As I was walking through the lobby of the hotel on my way to the dungeons to confront Julian, I ran into Fenris and Lila arguing.

“What do you mean he’s your ‘mate’?” Fenris practically shouted, followed by Lila shushing him and glancing around anxiously.

“Damn Fenris, keep your voice down, I haven’t told him yet.” Lila whispered back, though in a hotel full of werewolves, whispering was a bit redundant, we all had super hearing.

“He doesn’t know? How is that possible?”

“Because he’s a human, he may have a bit of Fae in him, but he’s still human, he doesn’t have the same signs we do.”

“You found your mate Lila? That’s great!” I exclaimed, surprising both of them as I walked up to join their little huddle. “I take it its Blake after the way you acted last night and the small bit of your conversation I overheard.”

“Eva! Oh my Goddess, I am so happy

Lilas feelings Are important, but I have to say she Is being a bit of whiner considering everything else that's happening. I'd hope she wouldn't be so vain as to throw him under the bus for being a norm.

“What do you plan to do with him?” Lila asked as the elevator doors slid open on the basement floor of the hotel. “I plan on asking questions, the punishment will depend on the answers I get.” I answered honestly. I could not get the incident with Julian out of my head all day. What he had done made no sense, and I had a theory that someone had told him to. But who? The elevator doors opened into a short hallway that dead ended at a large iron door with a security guard on either side. Both were watching us as we stepped off the elevator and made our way down the hall. The younger of the two stepped forward and help up a hand for us to halt. “That’s far enough, no one gets in or out with out Alpha Garrett’s permission.” He practically yelled, though we were only about eight feet away, his voice echoed off the walls irritating all our ears. Wolf hearing was not a joke. “I am Beta Evangeline, o

“I can’t believe the final two are Jackson and Lee.” Lila muttered before taking a bite out of the Hawaiian pizza in her hands. After our trip to see Julian in the dungeons and get his reasoning behind attempting to mark me without permission, we still had over an hour until the next fight took place, and thanks to werewolf stamina, we were all hungry. Deciding to get out of the hotel for a brief time we all headed out. There were dozens of restaurants close enough that we did not need to bring the cars around, and instead walked the short distance to a pizza place. Our pizzas only took twenty minutest to cook and we were sitting around a table in the coroner of the restaurant a pizza box in front of each of us while we discussed what had happened throughout the day. Lila admitted she had been hiding, too afraid to see Blake before she had decided what she was going to do and Fenris and I filled her in on the tournament, which lead to ou

  • Drowning in Her Darkness   The Finals

For the final leg of the tournament it would appear that I was going to have quite the entourage. Fenris and Lila sat on either side of me while Alaric, Gregory, Lucien, and Jerald were seated on the bench behind me. Jackson and Lee had entered the room a brief time ago, sitting on opposite sides of the makeshift arena with their respective pack members who had come to the summit with them. I was anxious to get this all over with and out of the way. Days had been wasted on this ridiculous tournament; time that would have been better spent signing a treaty that would bring the worlds packs together in a solitary fight against the greatest evil we had ever faced. Genesis. “All will be okay, Adora, we have your back.” Alaric’s voice drifted through my mind soothingly, though he was completely off as to what was bothering me. I was not worried about who would win this fight, I was not stressing about who I would face off with. I was

The power that flowed through me was unlike anything I had ever felt before, like lightening flashing through my veins, from my heart to my fingertips and flowing into Lee. I could feel the difference in him the moment it entered him, his pulse skipped a beat before beginning to hammer faster and faster. I focused on healing the carotid artery first, imagining my light encircling it and stitching it back together. The flow of blood leaking between my fingers slowed before finally stopping. I wanted to heal his neck completely, but I could feel my body tiring out as the use of my magic drained me. I focused instead on his leg, closing the bleeding vessels, trying to keep as much of his blood in his body as possible. Without blood he would be unable to heal, and all of this would be for nothing. I needed him alive until Blake could get here and give him a transfusion, and perhaps heal him a bit more himself. “What is she doing? Why is she

“Don’t let that asshat get under your skin, Eva.” Lila muttered, handing me a bottle of water as she glared at a grinning Jackson while he and his pack members entered the temporary arena. The room was filling up fast, as it seemed every single person who had come for the summit had decided to be here for the final fight. Though I guess it made sense, no matter who won, history would be made here tonight. “Don’t worry Lila, it would take more than a cocky grin to put me on edge.” I chuckled, sipping the water she had handed me slowly, keeping my gaze focused anywhere but on Jackson. Alaric, Fenris and Lila were all standing with me, waiting for Alpha Grayson to call Jackson and I to the center of the ring. We were still about ten minutes out from the official start and odd enough, the closer it got the calmer I felt, I knew this was Sapphire’s doing, sharing her confidence with me through the bond we shared. “He se

The attack was expected, but faster than I was prepared for. I danced out of his way, spinning back, and flipping backwards, springing off my hands and landing on my feet a distance away from a wide-eyed Jackson staring at me.“This is a fight, not a gymnastics competition.” Jackson growled, stalking forward to confront me once more.“Are you scared Jackson?” I probed him, smirking as I bend into stance again.“Of you? Never.” He lunged again, and I knew if I took the same route again, he’d see it coming, so instead I called on Sapphire’s strength and jumped up and over his head, twisting while in the air to land behind him, striking out to throw a punch into a kidney and the back of his head, then dancing away again before he could turn and deliver his own blows. When he turned to face me, I was a distance away and he looked officially pissed. “I can’t believe that didn’t leave a scar.” Yanking my shirt down to cover my exposed abdomen, I caught Lila’s eye in the mirror as she entered our hotel room. I had just been admiring the smooth skin myself, surprised as well at the lack of scaring from the mortal wound Jackson had managed to inflict before passing out. “She’s an Amethyst, they can heal from almost any wound.” Alaric’s pride filled voice filled the room as he stepped through the door behind Lila, Fenris following close. Surprisingly Blake was with them as well, bringing up the rear and closing the door softly behind him. The poor guy looked beyond nervous, pushing his black rimmed spectacles up his nose. “Hi Beta, I was just wanting to check on you and make sure you were healing well.” Blake stammered, attempting to step further in the room when Alaric turned to tower over him, and though I couldn’t see his expression, I kne

“May I be the first to welcome Alpha Evangeline Dark to the table for the first time with her new title.” Alpha Lee shouted over the murmurs of the room as I moved to slide into my seat at the large round table that had been reassembled for the summit to continue. At Lee’s words a soft round of applause filled the conference room, a few of the Alpha’s who had been on my side hooting and hollering a welcome. Laughing at their antics I waved my hands to quiet them down, laughing at the warm welcome I had not been expecting. “Thank you everyone, I am thrilled to join your ranks. Now, let’s get down to business, shall we?” “Yes, of course.” Lee agreed, flashing me another triumphant smile before turning to face the rest of the leaders, clearing his throat before continuing. “I know we got distracted the last few days with other matters, but now we need to buckle down and bring this back around to a worldwide treaty being signed.” &nb

  • Drowning in Her Darkness   Valen

Walking to the practice fields was awkward. I guess I was still a bit of a spectacle. The human in the werewolf world, mated to their fearless leader. I could see it in their eyes as I walked past, they didn’t think I was worthy of being here, much less of a higher rank. Keeping my head held high, I refused to show any weakness. As we neared a sign that signaled training field C, I looked among the warriors currently sparing, hoping for a glimpse of Eva. I saw her bright blonde hair flash in the sunlight before disappearing behind another body and made a line straight for her. Getting closer I realized the reason I hadn’t really seen her for more then a flash was because she was sparing. But her opponent was more than double her size. My heart stopped for a moment when he swung a large fist at her head, all I saw was a concussion and the considerable damage that would come from the man’s hammer of a fist ramming into her sku

After my talk with Blake, I wasn't feeling great about my original theory. I had to be careful with my questions, trying my best to make sure I didn't say anythingthatwould raise suspicions. In all, Blake didn't believethatwerewolves abilities could be replicated. Which meant I was back at square one.I needed to find Eva. My anger at her betrayal had not extinguished but I needed answer as to how my life was going to go now. When I'd be allowed to call and ask about Alexandria and find out how my patients were doing from Michele. There were to many uncertainties in my life right now. From Blakes clinic rooms, my guards and I made our way back down to the kitchens and dining hall, I didn't think I'd find Eva still there, but it wa

Slamming the door to my office I talked to my desk and grasped the edge trying to calm my anger, which was proving hard. "I had to do it." Sapphireargued through my mind, again. She had been apologizing since we'd been thrown from the room by our very angry mate. Our rightfully pissed the F-off mate. "Don't!" I yelled, digging my fingers into the desk until the wood gave way and crumbled in my hands. "Outof my head, now." I growled at my wolf, for the first time since Sapphire found me in that darkness, I wanted her gone. "Fine, but I did this for us, Eva. For us all. You, me, Valen, the pack. Our species."She whispered, disappearing from my consciousness immediately after. My wolf had destroyed the barest bit of trust I had managed to build with Valen. Set us back to the beginning, and I was not ready to forgive her at the moment. Tears of frustration pricked at the corners

Pain sliced through the pleasure pulsating through my body, though oddly the sensation melded into one, a pleasure sogreatit became painful. As I came down from my orgasm, I realized my shoulder painfully pulsating. When I pulled back something about Eva was different. Her eyes, they were glowing.I pushed away from her, shifting to my knees when I saw the small trickle of blood on her lip, sliding slowly down her chin. The set of her face was different as well, her brows drawn together, her lips pressed together, as if she were expecting an outburst and ready to take the heat without complaint. As if she knew she had done something wrong. The pain pulled my attention and raising a hand to shoulder I felt hot, sticky wetness pulling my fingers back I was surprised at the splash of color across them. I was bleeding, and if the blood

“Yes, I could use a little help I think.” Honestly, I was shocked the words came out so sure, I half expected to have to force my lips to move and form them.“I’m here with a little extra courage.” Sapphire piped in, almost causing me to chuckle.“Horny wolf.”“Always, especially for… all of that.” I knew by the way she purred she was referring to our very delicious looking mate.Valen stopped at the edge of the tub and grabbed a wash towel, before climbing in. When we were done questioning Genesis warrior, Alaric and I checked in on the big bad wolf himself, only to find him still knocked out from the silver and wolfsbane that was used to keep him sedated for the trip here. This worked for me though, I wanted to check on Valen. As I neared the door to my private rooms, I confronted the warriors standing guard at the door. “Did he give you any trouble?” I asked. The exchanged an odd look before shaking their head no in unison. “Not at all.” The one of the left said, followed closely by the one on the right. “He came with us to the safe room easily.” I felt that they were hiding something, but I wasn’t exceedingly worried about it at the moment and waved them away, telling them to get something to eat. My eyes scanned the room in panic when I found it empty, as I moved to call after he guards to come back and find him, I heard

  • Drowning in Her Darkness   The Prisoner

When we reached the pack house Alaric, and I followed the guards carrying Genesis to the dungeons. We’d decided we would check in with Genesis’s scout while waiting for the big bad wolf himself to wake up. Walking into the dungeons was almost like walking into another world. It was dark and the smell of mildew assaulted your senses the moment you opened the door. As I stepped into the blackness at the entry to the bellow ground hell hole, I felt my heart skip a beat and my breathing pick up. Everything about it reminded me of that hole. Of my own personal prison for the vast majority of my life. Alaric was holding the door open and glanced back at me in confusion when I didn’t automatically step through. Leaning closer he lowered his voice, watching me curiously. “Alpha, is everything okay?” After taking a deep breath to help steady my racing heart I nodded and stepped into the dark. Alaric moved to turn on the swi
