"Miss, are you getting out of the car or not?" asked the cab driver.

Heather snapped back to reality. She took a deep breath and paid the driver. Then, she pushed the car door open before running toward the prison gate in the pouring rain.

The rain was heavy. By the time she reached the gate, she was drenched to the bone.

Heather explained the purpose of her visit to the prison guard, but he dismissed her. "Go away! Do you think you can see anyone you want to see here? Do you think the prison is your home?"

Heather had faced the same situation when she had come to visit Whitney before. Back then, the prison guard had kept blocking her path as well.

She started to get anxious. "I just want to see him and talk to him for a few minutes! I have an important thing to ask him!"

She paused, then continued, "Please do me a favor. I didn't bring my wallet with me. When I go back, I'll send you some money!"
