CHAPTER 56 : Luke's job

Lawrence POV :

Driving at a speed that pushed the limits of control, the driver navigated the car with a precision born of desperation. He didn't dare take any chances. His eyes were glued to the road, overtaking cars with ruthless efficiency as we barreled into the city center. Our car was a blur amidst the sluggish traffic, the other vehicles crawling along as if on a leisurely Sunday drive or an adventurous drive, oblivious to our frantic pace.

I glanced back, my heart pounding, scanning for any sign of the pursuing police car.

“We seem to have lost them,” I muttered, both of us straining to see any flicker of red and blue lights. The chase appeared to be winding down, the wail of sirens growing fainter as we heard it only from a far distance away.

"They must be chasing someone else," I thought, a wave of relief washing over me. Yet, I couldn't shake the nagging worry. Those other drivers didn't need my help; they could fend for the
