CHAPTER 53 Betrayal

Lawrence POV

The situation was spiraling out of control. One of the vehicles in our convoy had already been destroyed by an explosive, and their intentions were clear—they wanted us to stop, and it would be easy for them to capture us. As we moved, I realized I had to act quickly.

“Open fire on them!” I commanded, knowing this was risky. My men would have to expose themselves to the enemy's explosives to shoot back, but we couldn't just speed off and risk getting struck again.

“Open fire! Open fire! Open fire!” my bodyguard shouted through his walkie-talkie, his voice steady despite the chaos. He was preparing to lean out of the car window and aim at our attackers. Fear gripped me. How could it not? I wasn't immortal, and anyone in this situation would be terrified. Gunshots erupted from the cars in our convoy as my men engaged the enemy.

“Contact our soldiers at the training center! We need reinforcements!” I yelled to my security director, who was already firing through the window.
