Vivian

“Hello Vivian, are you alright?” Richard's concerned voice resounded in the car, shunning me into silence. I was hyperventilating. I just cussed loudly at my boss. Did he hear everything? Oh my goodness!

“God dammit!” I mouthed silently, bringing the phone away from my ear.

“Hello, are you there?” His voice came through the phone again, “Is everything okay?”

I groaned inwardly, my face burning. “Uhm yeah, everything is perfect, sir.” I said, stumbling on my words. I could feel my cheeks heating up from how embarrassed I felt.

“Such colorful words coming from your mouth Viv, I never imagined.” His voice took on a teasing note as he joked, chuckling.

“I'm so sorry. I thought it was someone else.” I apologized, regretting that I said anything when I picked up the call. I should have waited to hear who it was.

Richard laughed softly, “No worries, Vivian. It was just a mistake.”

I laughed in return, feeling a bit relieved that he didn't take offense to what happened.
