Chapter 41 Daughter-in-Law

Serena's POV

I sniffed and wiped the tears on my cheeks. Uncle Charlie's always been afraid of mentioning my parents because he thinks it would break my heart again. He saw how devastated I was when my parents died and bringing up my parent's names could trigger my emotions. He knows that but I’m thankful to Chris Walter for telling me this.

“Your father saved me that day, Serena. If not because of him, I wouldn't be able to marry and have a son. Have a granddaughter…”

“I’m no longer your daughter-in-law…” I said because I feel like I need to say it.

He shook his head, “That won’t stop me from taking care and protecting you and my granddaughter.”
