"I think only the people closest to me would know about a birthmark on such a private part of my body." Warren narrowed his dark eyes.

He continued, "In my family, the only people who would know this are my grandmother and my parents. I can't think of a reason why they would do this to me since this concerns the entire Larkin Corporation."

Evelyn's eyelashes fluttered. She looked up at Warren and asked, "What if someone did this to help Laine marry into your family?"

"Why do you say so?"

"Laine gave me a choice earlier. She said she would drop the case if I convinced you to marry her."

"Then why didn't you tell me? Is it because you still have feelings for me and don't want me to get involved with another woman?" Warren stared hard at Evelyn, trying to find a hint of reluctance on her face.

But Evelyn merely smiled faintly. "Mr. Yarrow instructed me to win the case, not to come to a settlement. It has nothing to do with whether I care or not."
