Chapter 145

Warren watched Bonnie call Chester. He didn't care how she would explain it, so he dragged his fatigued body out the door and left.

The night sky grew darker, and silence fell over the land. Only dim street lamps lit up the sides of the roads, casting long, lonely shadows along the ground.

He didn't drive. He simply walked alone in the dark night. The cool night breeze entered through his collar and tickled his chest. He felt a biting cold chill in his bones.

Before he knew it, he arrived at the alley where he first met Evelyn. The alley was very run-down; even the paint on the surrounding buildings was peeling. Several stray cats saw him coming and hid in a corner in fear. Staring at him with round eyes, they meowed non-stop.

It reminded him of Evelyn back then. She had been surrounded by bad people and had been trying to run for her life. However, when she reached the end, she realized that it was a dead end. Just when she had lost all hope, she had seen him.
