Chapter 52

Jessica was toeing a very difficult line. Enough so, that I made sure I was standing behind her as Ky and Kent looked at each other and back at us. It was Kent that broke the silence first.

“Well, boy. Leave it to you to have a forward thinking mate.” Standing up, he walked over to Jessica. “I think you are just what this pack needs.” He smiled at her.

“The pack or Ky?” I asked, giving him a smirk.

“Maybe both.” Kent walked back to his chair but stayed standing.

“We will hear you out and then go from there.” Ky gave Jessica a look that said, happy?

“With an open mind.” It was a statement, not a question from Jessica.

“With an open mind. We promise.” Ky padded the chair next to him, motioning for Jessica to take a seat. One she ignored.

“Waylon? Please?”

“If this backfires, it’s on you.” I said directly to her. Her eyes showed the hopefulness she was feeling and the nervousness.

“Let’s hear it.” Kent interrupt my stare down.

“Well. I need to show you the proof as we talk.
