“I just… I just feel a sense of duty towards her. I can’t explain it.” Brayden shook his head and looked out the window. He was ashamed for feeling this way but it still rubbed me wrong.

“That is because she is the true queen and people are going to feel the need to protect her. Everyone feels that way but that doesn’t mean you have some claim over her. She isn’t your to demand any type of information or anything from. Although it is your job to protect her as a warrior, she isn’t your mate and you need to back off.”

“I just want to see that she is treated correctly and gets the life she deserves.” Brayden kept some of his stubborn misplaced protectiveness.

“Do you honestly think that my team, who has been working night and day to figure out a way to clear her name is mistreating her? You believe as her mate that I am mistreating her?” My knuckles were turning white on the steering wheel.

“I don’t know you! The only time I have seen you, you both were running for your life.”
