JEREMY'S POV

I land on Tuscany soil the next day and it's almost sunset. I need to get into Guerrero's compound before sundown to get a feel of the layout so I call Malakai and he answers on the fourth ring with a yawn.

“Who's this?” He says groggily.

“Who do you think, Kai?” I pinch the bridge of my nose, masking my annoyance.

“Oh shit!” Something crashes, I hear a deep curse and he clears his throat, “When did you land?”

“About an hour ago.”

Another yawn, “What kept you so long? It's like seven in the morning back here.”

“Customs and something wrong with my passport. Why don't you ask me about the weather?” I ask with a calm I don't feel and he falls for it.

“Oh yeah, how's the weathe—”

“I don't care about the fucking weather Kai.” I snap, my voice high and depicting waves of rage, and the people moving around me turn and stare with wide eyes.
