***Sasha***

She was still going through emails when Bob knocked on her door. She had barely been able to stop thinking about Padens and do something useful.

"A minute please, I'm coming," she said and was happy her voice was heard.

Sasha dropped her laptop from on her bed and cursed under her breath. She prayed it was not Mathew because she had no explanation for not being able to attend his prayer sessions as she had promised.

She stood up, slid her legs into a bedroom slipper, and changed into a more decent dress. She was not going to embarrass herself again like she did last night with Padens so she hurriedly hung her nightie inside the wardrobe before heading to the door. She was still zipping the back of her dress as she raced for the door.

Wondering who it might be, she placed her hands on the doorknob and drew it back. It was Bob. He smiled at her. "Good morning, ma."

"Good morning," she replied, trying to figure out what he was doing at her place so early in the morning. She

***Sasha***"My parents and I used to have picnics on holidays. And I must confess I miss the feeling that comes with it," she said in a melancholic voice and bowed her head down a little before raising it to his face then began to nib on the cracker. She was regretful that she brought her personal life into this."I'm sorry," He studied her face, and general appearance for a moment. "Some things just tend to hold memories we can not seem to bury no matter how hard we try to forget them. It's like letting go means losing a part of what makes whole," he acknowledged that he also had memories that were triggered. It was wonderful that they both had a mutual feeling about the picnic and this made it more lovely. Suddenly, he sat up straight, raising his shoulders up, and stared into a tray with a spoon in his hand. "You know, Sasha, I used to have little picnics like this with my wife even before she gave birth to our son. We'd laugh and laugh. Eat and end up in the pool," his soft hus

Sasha's POV "Here are the divorce papers, I've signed them. I'm grateful that my marriage with you has finally come to an end," I flung the papers at Harvey as he emptied the bottle of whiskey he was holding into his mouth. "I never wish to ever have anything to do with you again."Tears pooled up in my eyes and began to find their way down my cheeks.I loved Harvey. I loved him with everything I had and this… this… this was how he paid me…I wonder how that mouth was once the sweetest thing I've ever tasted. I've done everything humanly possible to revive the spark between us. But, I've had enough. Today was the day I was going to leave Harvey. I've endured for too long, I cannot endure anymore. He killed the very hope that was holding us together. O! My poor Daniel. Harvey killed him. "Where do you think you'll go? You don't have anywhere to go, remember? I'm all you've got in your fucking miserable life," He paused and dropped the whiskey. "O- I've always known you were a prost

Sasha stretched her body on the bed as she woke up to the glint of light that had taken over the room. It was a new day. Last night, she had prayed to not be part of today; she had prayed for death. But then, "Does God even answer her prayers?" She was about to begin her pool of questions when she admitted to herself that it was too early for that. Sasha knew she had sinned in the past but did God not say to ask forgiveness and forgiveness shall be given? Why then was her case different? She smuggled out of the bed and walked barefoot into the bathroom. She brushed and washed her face. "Good morning world. It's another day to throw your worst at me," she mused. To be sincere, nothing would make her happy. If there was anything then it was to hear that Harvey had been crushed by a train. No, she doesn't want him to die, death would only be an easy escape route for him. She wants him to be in a situation in which he'd have to wish for death but he would not get it. She continued to imag

"I feel filthy, Lord. Cleanse my soul"Sasha and Mathew walked down the road that led to the south of the hotel. They were headed to a local bakery Mathew had suggested they checked out. He was so sure of the idea that Sasha had begun to think he knew who owned the bakery."There's a local bakery in the southern street from here. Let's go there. You'll bake the cake there. This was what he had said. Sasha was surprised at the certainty of the statement she went on to ask if he had been there for something like this before. She laughed when he answered in disagreement."The good Lord will sort everything for us. Have faith my dear." He had assured her that the Lord works in miraculous ways.Sasha wished she had his faith. To be content with everything. To believe in God. To stride into dark caves certain God will provide a light and pave a way for her. She lacked faith and she knew it. Perhaps, God had been testing her to see if she'll run back to him. She remembered some lines from Go

"You're married?" Mathew asked, his concern evident in his voice.Sasha took a deep breath and looked up at him, ignoring his question. "My baby...my baby died," she whispered, tears welling up in her eyes again.Mathew's heart sank. There was nothing he could say to take away Sasha's pain, but he tried his best to console her. " So sorry. That must be so hard for you. It's really a great loss for a parent to have to witness the death of their child. I share in your pains. May God console you and bless the young soul in his grave.""Sasha shook her head. ".t's just so unfair, you know? My baby was so young and innocent. Why did he have to die. None of it was his fault. He… he… he?" She stammered, her voice was breaking.Mathew looked at her with pity and understanding. "I know it's hard for you. But sometimes things happen for a reason. Maybe your baby's purpose was to bring love and joy into your life, even if it was just for a short time. And maybe now, your baby is in a better plac

Sasha yawned and stretched her body on the bed. She rubbed her eyes with her hands and wished the day had not yet broken. This was the first time she was going to have a very peaceful sleep in a very long time. Long before she had even given birth to Daniel, she had not woken up and wished the night was longer. She had for some reasons, but not because she enjoyed the night. She got out of the bed and sleepily walked to the bathroom, she brushed her teeth, washed her hair and added some facial cream to her face. If she was going to be at the wedding tonight she sure would not be the only one looking unkempt despite that she was nowhere close to anyone in the long list of invitees in terms of wealth, fame and fortune. When she was done, she looked at the mirror, satisfied with the reflection of herself in the mirror, a smile quivered her mouth. She had already mapped out her plans for the day. Food. Nap. Bathe. Wedding. She picked up her phone to send Mathew a message. To remind him he

Sasha stepped out of Mathew's car in her red Bardot shoulder-to-floor gown. The dry cleaner really gave life to the dress. She walked up through the grand entrance after showing her invitation card to the big-bodied security men at the entrance of the luxurious wedding venue. She had instantly felt her stomach run cold with nervousness, she was not used to large gatherings of this sort not to talk about a gathering of high-class citizens. As she forced herself through the stairs, her mind had suggested she turned around and leave, this would save her from unnecessary embarrassment. However, she pressed forward with the stairs until she was in the hall. Her eyes widened in awe as she took in the sight before her. The foyer was adorned with opulent chandeliers, extravagant floral arrangements, and a sweeping staircase that led to the upper levels. The air was filled with excitement and anticipation. The sound of laughter and animated conversations echoed throughout the foyer, drawing S

"However, in my opinion I do not find it necessary. It seems to me like nothing but a waste of resources when these resources could have been put to other more important use," she poured out her mind to him. Almost immediately she had said this, she wished she could withdraw her words or even, prayed that he had not heard her. That wasn't the case, the man sitting before her had his full undivided attention on her, he was paying attention to everything she had uttered. When she raised her head up, he was staring at her, his eyes moved around on her body and were traveling down her chest. She fixed her gaze on him so that he found it impossible to ket his eyes see anymore of her body than he had already feed himself with. His piercing eyes had made her feel like she wore less than she had. Perhaps a bikini or a lingerie. Sasha cleared her throat and he regained himself with a laugher that seemed more private and formal. "Exactly, my point. Out in the world somewhere right now, someone

***Sasha***Is he courting me? Sasha asked herself when she gazed back and saw the dancing stage. Even in her youthful years, she had not gotten anything close to this from Harvey. She was fighting back tears so hard because she'd be more than embarrassed if he saw her crying. When she turned to him, he was smiling brightly, his eyes catching hers. Her heart paused for a moment. She struggled to breathe but instead, she swallowed and wondered what he would think of her if he knew she was divorced and had lost a child. The way he looked at her was different from the way anyone has ever looked at her. She shoved down the intense urge to stand up, walk up to him, take his mouth into hers, and press their bodies together till his groin grinds against hers. It was becoming unbearable. Just as looking into his eyes.Suddenly her mind was fuelled with unexpected courage. She was going to enjoy this moment to its fullest. How much of him was she going to get tonight? She'll wait and see.In

***Padens***He made her laugh throughout. She stood to use the lady's room once. It was only to control herself from bursting into spontaneous laughter. "My God!" She muttered whimsically when she got into the lady's room. And she instantly began to laugh at how Padens had been munching on his chicken soup. However, instead of disgusting her it amused her, she liked him. She liked the way his mouth moved when he chewed while still keeping his lips pursed tightly. His eyes did their fair share of galavanting all over her face and her chest. They went all the way from her head to her shoulders. Sasha got the feeling his eyes were looking at the shape of her breasts beneath the gown she had worn.Standing in front of the mirror in the lady's room, she could see why he had been looking at her chest. Her nipples are showing against the gown and it would take not much of a squint to see the tiny bulge they made in the gown. Now, she regretted not wearing a bra underneath the gown. She fel

***Padens***"Sir, there's a man asking to see you outside. He said you promised him a pair of shoes," his secretary said when he picked up the call."A pair of shoes?" He asked. Suddenly he remembered and let out a burst of low laughter. Of course, he promised the coroner a pair of shoes. Why had he forgotten about that? He sighed."Get him a pair of those shoes you got me for the wedding, Okay?""Okay, sir. Is everything alright? You haven't had your breakfast yet, sir.""I haven't?" His sarcasm was top-notch. "I don't think I want to eat anything for now. Thank you.""Okay, sir."He dropped the dialer into its cradle and went back to reading the document he was reading before she had called.Moments passed and he was still unable to read through the first page, his brain was not taking in any of the words his eyes had been carefully squinting."What's gotten into me?" He dropped his pen and pressed backward into his golden-colored Home Office Executive Desk Chair. He stared into th

***Padens***They had taken the second turn and were fast approaching the hotel and she had not said anything in regards to what he had said."Sasha," he whispered, this time his husky voice didn't make her sweat. It was soft against her ears. "Say something, please."She sighed. He was trying his best to look into her eyes while she did her best to avoid him. Who wouldn't want to be his friend? But there were many other things he didn't know about her. The knowledge that his wife had died was like a piece of white cloth in the dark. But, did he know she was divorced and had just recently lost her child?Hell! No! He didn't. Nobody did except for Mathew whom she had told. However, she perceived, at this moment the least of what she needed is friendship. Though his friendship would go a long way in putting her together. She needed his influence, his fame. Wouldn't it be a great way to get back at Harvey? She thought."No problem, Mr. Padens, you can be my friend." She said dryly like a

***Sasha***"... You've also sent Malcolm Galileo a mail?" The surprise in her question was still evident in her voice. She waited anxiously to hear him begin to speak. He sighed. Raised his brows up and raked his hands through his hair a couple of times. "Yes, I've sent Malcolm Galileo a couple of emails. I've always wondered why I got no replies from him. A couple of angry mails criticizing his disrespectful attitude towards his reader's feedback." It was still hard for him to believe Sasha was Malcolm Galileo. He just couldn't admit it. If he were to list three of his favorite poets Malcolm Galileo would either be the second or the third. The first position was undoubtedly Kahlil Gibran's.Yes, he had sent Malcolm Galileo his first mail after he read a poem written by the poet about losing what one loved the most in life. It had been a few months after Zoe's death, he had heard someone quote a line from the poem and had instantly fallen in love with it and decided to give the whol

***Sasha***Why's he here? She asked herself as she pushed the door forward to create enough space to pass through. She had worn a black sweatshirt hoodie and an ash-colored tracksuit. In her hand was her laptop, some pieces of draft she had written that needed to be thoroughly edited. She threw a glance at him once again and trotted to a free table. Was it a coincidence that he was here also or he was stalking her…Shit! She was not supposed to think like this. Last night he had barely even looked up at her face when he dropped her off for her to think he was stalking her. Of course, it was a great coincidence that he was here. Perhaps he had stopped by earlier for a cup of coffee or so.Luckily for her, the same place she had sat yesterday was still vacant so she sat on it. She sighed. Thinking about what had happened yesterday made her stomach churn in embarrassment. She didn't like that he was here. Padens' POV I never wanted to go to any wedding, especially not this one.I don't even know what made me choose to go there in my Bugatti Chiron. I found myself twirling whimsically, throwing my head from one car to the other until I pointed toward it, "Take that one?" Bob's face widened in awe. This was the first time I'll be asking him to take me out in the Bugatti Chiron ever since it was purchased. Bob was my driver. Not specifically mine, he was Zoe's most trusted driver. I couldn't let him go after she passed away.Bob was a young man of perhaps twenty-eight years old, I'm not sure, I've never cared to ask. He was doing his job and in return was paid handsomely, better than a high percentage of office working-class men. Sometimes, I had initially thought he was way too young to be a driver. I still do. However, looking at the margin between his salary and other workers… I guess it was worth his youthful energy. Bob loves his work. He had constantly pressurized me into accepti
