Celeste

It was the night of the Autumn Equinox. The Harvest Moon was starting to rise in the clear dark sky. Everyone in the territory was preparing for tomorrow's Autumn Equinox celebration known as Mabon.

I, myself, was supposed to be preparing for the Harvest Moon dinner but I was having contractions. I had thought it was Braxton Hicks contractions, but these contractions were bearing down on me within regular periods.

"It's too soon, Emma. She can't be coming yet. It's too soon." I started doing my breathing exercises so I could keep calm. I was two weeks shy of being seven months pregnant, so my shock when I began going into labor.

Emma, my handmaiden helped me into my favorite rocking chair. She brought the matching foot stool and placed my feet on top of it. It was bliss.

"Luna Celeste, I have asked Beta Daniel to call on the pack doctor. She will be here any minute now. For now, just breathe like we practiced, ok? Tell me when another contraction comes so I can see how far apart you are. I have the chambermaids preparing hot water and clean towels for the birth of your pup." Emma was always positive and cheerful which was why I really liked her and she was a huge help when I couldn't get my wits together.

"Don't you think it's just a bit too soon?" I glanced at Emma who was preparing the bed for the birthing.

"Luna, when it is time, it is time. Your pup may be coming out a bit early, but that only means she's ready to meet the world. Don't worry, Luna Celeste. The pack doctor will make sure you and your baby are healthy. Now, sit back and relax. The rocking from the chair will help soothe you."

I leaned back on my rocking chair while it swayed back and forth. Emma was right. The movement was helping soothe my body.

I felt another contraction and I winced while squeezing the arms of the rocking chair to brace myself. The contractions were now only minutes apart. I started doing my breathing exercises again wondering what was taking the pack doctor so long to get here.

Suddenly, we heard a scream coming from someone inside the territory. Emma rushed towards the window and peeked outside to see what the commotion was all about. I also stood up from the rocking chair, holding my stomach as I tried to see what was happening outside.

"The Alpha of the Rogues with his harem of dark witches are entering the territory, Luna," a member of the pack screamed at us. Just my luck. I was in the middle of labor. He must not know I am weak. I felt a contraction again and I squeezed Emma's shoulder. The pain would shoot down my stomach then it would radiate up my spine. It's always the first birth that's the most painful the women would say. Now that I'm experiencing it, I know the truth in their words.

"Emma, help me downstairs. The Rogue Alpha can not know I am about to give birth. I have kept myself hidden and unreachable from others because I wanted to keep my pregnancy a secret. If he finds out he has caught me at my weakest, my baby and I will be killed. Remember the prophecy." Emma nodded her head, put an arm around my waist and took my hand to escort me downstairs when my mate Alpha Blake of the Autumn Moon Pack came rushing into my room.

"Celeste, you need to leave. He is here for you and the baby. Someone has betrayed us, Celeste. Not many know you are pregnant. Just a select few." Blake started to gather some of my things to place them in my bag. Emma quickly released my hand so she could stop him and do the packing herself. She took the bag and calmly began to pack my essentials.

"I can not leave, Blake. The baby is coming soon. My contractions are not that far apart. If I had just gone to the hospital..." I paused, feeling like a fool. "I'm so sorry, Blake. This is all my fault." Tears began to fall from my eyes. I was in unbearable pain, someone has come to try to kill me and my child, and I was too weak to fight back. This is what you call bad luck.

I felt a trickle of liquid flow between my legs. "My water just broke," I announced, looking down at the pool of water between my feet.

"My Goddess! You can't be! It's too soon. There must be a way to get you out safely." Blake paused, trying to think of a way for me to escape. Another contraction radiated throughout my body. My knees went weak from the pain ang they buckled from underneath me that I almost fell. Blake broke my fall, holding me tightly in his arms and carried me to my bed. He caressed my face and gave me a kiss. I glanced up at his eyes and I saw them filled with such anguish. "I love you, Celeste. Give birth to our pup. I need to go outside and defend our territory. No matter what happens to me, Celeste, promise me you will go on living." I couldn't answer him, pain was searing through my body, so I simply nodded my head, promising him I would do what he asked of me. He let go of my hand and ran out of my room. I heard him tell his men to shift and attack.

Emma stacked a pile of pillows to help me in a sitting position to aid in the birthing process. She also placed pillows beneath my thighs and knees and proceeded to spread my legs to check.

"You're crowning, Luna. We can no longer wait for the pack doctor. I will assist you in your birth." She pushed her sleeves up and cleansed her hands with alcohol. "When you feel another contraction, I need you to push with all your might, Luna." We heard growling sounds coming from the outside and more screams from the people in the territory. "Don't be distracted, Luna. Just think of your baby." Emma lifted my skirt up to my knees and started cleaning the insides of my thighs.

"Emma, I feel another contraction coming. I'm going to push!" I propped myself up on my elbows and inhaled deeply. Here we go.

"Alright Luna. Push!" I pushed down with all my might and screamed as I felt my baby come out into the open. "It's a beautiful baby girl," I heard Emma announce. I fell back on the pillows, spent. All I wanted to do was go to sleep, but unfortunately I couldn't. Smoke started to billow into the window of my room. The rogues were burning down the homes in the territory.

"Emma, listen to me. There is not much time." Emma had cut the umbilical cord and had handed my baby to the chambermaids in the room. She started to clean me up, taking out my placenta. The chambermaids hurriedly cleaned my daughter, who, surprisingly, wasn't crying.

"Emma, I need you to take my daughter and escape. Promise me you will keep her alive. Please?" Emma looked at me, confused. "I can't leave. I need to stay here and help Blake."

"No, we are all going to escape, Luna. I have packed a few of our essentials. I know someone who can help us. Come on, Luna. I know it's painful to walk, but I can't carry you and the baby at the same time." She gestured to the chambermaids who were wrapping my daughter up in blanket. "Give me the baby. Come on. Give me the baby." The chambermaids looked at us then down at the baby and shook their heads. My jaw dropped. They were willing to betray me!

"We will be rewarded handsomely if we were to give the daughter of Celeste to the Rogue Alpha," one of the chambermaids said.

"Are you imbeciles? The Rogue Alpha will only reward you with death. It is much better if you give me the baby and for you to escape. Be content you will leave with the shirts on your back. Now give me the baby!" Emma snarled at all of them and the chambermaid carrying my daughter reluctantly gave the baby to Emma. "Now go! Before the Rogue Alpha finds us and kills us all." The chambermaids ran out of the room and Emma motioned for me to follow them. I wobbled out of my room with Emma following. She picked up the small bag she had packed earlier while carrying my daughter.

"I SMELL THE BLOOD OF A PUP!" The Rogue Alpha yelled through the main entrance of our mansion. There was no escape for me. Weak or not, I would have to face him.

"Your mate is dead! Show yourself to me now, High Priestess or I will show you no mercy." His harem of dark witches laughed, knowing it was all a joke. The Rogue Alpha would never show me mercy. He was here to kill me and my daughter and exterminate my pack.

"Go, Emma." I pointed to the east wing of the mansion. There was a hidden entrance that only a few of us, including Emma, knew. "Go to the barn just outside of the territory. Inside is a car with provisions. Money and clothes I have kept hidden inside the trunk. Keep my Moira safe. Here..." I took off my necklace and placed it on my daughter. I kissed her on the cheek and caressed her head. "Mama, loves you little one. Remember that." I took one last look at my precious daughter then I pushed Emma towards the corridor. "Now go Emma! I will distract the Rogue Alpha so you may escape." Emma nodded her head and ran hrough the east wing corridor to the secret entrance of the mansion. I waited until she had entered the room which would lead her to the stairs of the secret door of the mansion.

I inhaled deeply and started my painful descent down the stairs to face the Rogue Alpha. I silently uttered a prayer as I went down each step.

Moon Goddess, please help my daughter. Help her survive the Alpha of the Rogues and send her to a family who will love her and take care of her.

Moon Goddess, I beg you, please. Take pity on my child.

Magnus"Stop destroying the contents of this house. I am planning to loot all their valuables and bring it to my estate." These witches have no idea how priceless most of the things are inside this house. High Priestess Celeste and her mate Alpha Blake have amassed a great deal of wealth over the years, profiting from Celeste's magic. She had asked for jewels, gold and rare gems from pack's who required her of her services. Many items in this mansion were antiques, precious heirlooms, given to her as payment for her protection charm. I wanted everything in this house, especially the contents of their vault."Magnus, you must be joking. You said we could destroy anything we wanted. And I for one, would love to destroy everything in this house as well as the mansion itself." Lilith picked up a ceramic vase and dropped it on the floor. The vase shattered into many small pieces. I shook my head. What a waste."My dear, Lilith, all these things I can sell so I can buy you all those trinkets

CelesteI descended the grand staircase slowly, taking each step one at a time. I grabbed the banister for support as I placed one foot in front of the other, wincing in pain. I could hear voices coming from the parlor on the ground floor as well as the sound of ceramics breaking as they hit the floor. These dark witches didn't know how valuable those things were to other wolves. Clearly, they had no respect for other people's things."Where is she? If she isn't here, she must have escaped!" I heard Lilith speak. She was once my bestfriend until her jealousy tore us apart. Blake and I were fated mates, a mating blessed by the Moon Goddess herself. Lilith unfortunately believed she was Blake's fated mate and not I. So, she did the despicable. She disguised herself as me and paraded herself naked in front of Blake who was drunk after celebrating our alliances. They say your life flashes before your eyes just before you die and it is true...all the good memories and all the people you lov

Magnus"Painful for us to watch, painful for you to feel." I laughed at Celeste, who was writhing in pain, the mate bond broken from Blake's death. She blew him a kiss, how touching. Why didn't she save him so she could heal him? Honestly, she looked sick. Maybe pregnancy was taking a toll on her."Magnus, we agreed I would have Blake!" Lilith whispered to me in a deep voice. " You gave me your word." I grabbed her by her arm and twisted it. She yelped in pain. I pulled her towards me so she could smell my horrid breath."Blake doesn't love you and he will never love you even if Celeste is gone from this Earth. Why would he settle for someone ugly and used? He will find someone prettier and fresh. I am doing you a favor."I saw her eyes glaze over for a second, a clear sign someone was communicating with her. It must be the girls telling her to walk away. "How would you know? You have never experienced love. Not all wolves are like you, Magnus." Lilith pulled away from me so I let he

SakuraIt was raining like a tropical storm outside. Lightning sizzled, loud thunder roared and the torrents of rain hitting the roof of the house was so loud, I couldn't hear the television. I wiped my hands on my apron and switched the channel to the news and waited for the weather forecaster to go on. Strange. She didn't mention anything about the rain tonight. Lightning flickered again like a light of a camera and thunder followed it, making the whole house vibrate. A moment ago, the full moon was shining, glistening so beautifully. Then, all of sudden, dark clouds appeared, covering the moon and releasing an angry burst of rain. Oh, well, the weather was always unpredictable.I was washing the dishes while Winston, my husband, went around the house making sure the windows were all shut tight. The wind was howling outside. He didn't want the rain water to stain our hardwood floors.Winston and I have been married for quite some time. I'm a first generation Japanese-Filipino while m

MagnusI was pacing up and down in my study thinking of what I could do so the Council of Wolves would retract the bounty they had so generously offered in exchange for me.Now that Celeste is dead, I could do whatever I want without any obstacles in my way. Although, I'm still ticked off I wasn't able to find that damn ring of hers. The Moon Goddess never plays fair especially for a big bad wolf like me.The Council of Wolves were starting to be a real pain in the neck. They had announced they were offering a bounty for my head, whether I be dead or alive. I mean, why would they care if I sell drugs or smuggle stuff? It's not like I'm doing it to the wolves."Magnus, kidnapping Omegas and making them sex slaves isn't something the Council of Elders would willfully condone. Why don't we just focus on humans? The Omegas are still our brethren," Lilith said, after she read the sheet of paper the Council Elders had put up at the gates of territories of all the wolf packs in the country. S

High Elder I had my chauffeur drive me near the estate of the Rogue Legion where I got out to walk the rest of the way. It was a far walk to the gates of the territory, but I did not want my driver to be accosted by the rogues while I conducted business.I patiently waited at the gate for Magnus where a number of rogues were snarling at me, but because I was the High Elder, they could not attack knowing it would mean their deaths. It was a good fifteen minutes before Magnus himself came out of his mansion to greet me, his harem of dark witches not far behind him."High Elder Alfred Evans, what a nice surprise! I would invite you in, but I know you will decline so we can just talk out here in the open instead. I do commend you for your bravery. Coming here unaccompanied." Magnus shook his head. "I could kill you right where you stand." Magnus chuckled, obviously delighted in the fact I had stooped down to the level of a messenger."Enough of the threats, Magnus. We all know you can not

(Present Day)Later tonight when the Harvest Moon starts to rise will be my 18th birthday. Currently I am a freshman at a university here in Montana near home, although I had wanted to enroll elsewhere. My mother didn't allow me to go to school outside the state saying she preferred family close by. As always, she would say it was the Filipino in her. I tried to argue the fact that she actually left her family in California, but she went technical and justified her decision to keep me home by asserting the fact that she lived at home when she was in college. Then, she threw in "technology" into the debate and pointed out I have a grandmother who is on standby through video call 24/7. So, now when my mother asks me where my grandmother is, I tell her she's in my pocket which usually earns me a dirty look from her. It's true anyway. My smartphone is always in my pocket. It was chaos in our house. My mother was going to throw a Harvest Moon Thanksgiving party for my dad tonight. Actually

The High Elder would have said something to me," I answered. "But it is possible that he might be here. It could be the reason why the High Elder is flying out here tonight," my father said, his distress obvious in his voice. Even Kiaria began to look concerned."Father, let's calm down. We will know when the High Elder arrives," I said, looking at the wall clock. "He will be here soon.""Who is Magnus? I think I have the right to know if I'm right in assuming he was the one who killed my biological parents," Kiaria said with so much conviction, I decided it was time to tell her what I knew.I took her hand in mine, hoping to give her some comfort. KiaraAfter the police took our statements, they allowed us to go home. They praised my father for his quick thinking and calm resolve while I was asked to join therapy sessions for post-traumatic stress disorder after being held hostage. Since I was bothered by that one rogue's untimely death, I toyed with the idea that I should go see a therapist. However, Selene argued I shouldn't feel guilty... that it was either him or my father. While I was waiting for my father to sign some documents for the police, I took a moment to imagine a different scenario, one where my dad was dead and the rogue wolf was alive. I wouldn't be here at the police station. Instead, I would be at a funeral home making arrangements while my mother would be seated in the car waiting for me, catatonic, broken and distraught. After burying my father, my mother would struggle to move on while I would live a life full of regret, constantly blaming myself for not doing what had to be done. My wolf was right. There

I just needed to focus and focus I did. I wanted the cameras to go Poltergeist on the police.I searched the utility room for something to hit them in the head with. These were wolves... and the stick at the end of a mop wasn't going to do any damage. There was some sort of locker type closet at the end of the room. If there were tools, that's probably where the cleaning staff would stash them. I was in luck. It was unlocked and stored inside were wrenches. I took the biggest heavy duty pipe wrench, hoping it would serve as a weapon.I had to think of a way to separate the two rogues. I decided to make the door creak. It worked. "Check that out, will yah," said one. I decided to name him Rogue Two. "It's probably the police. Remember kill them all."Alert the others if I don't come back," said the other which I named Rogue On

KiariaIt was fun shopping, but we had to get moving, if not, we'd be stuck here forever. I bought a cute mauve pink sleeveless tie neck sheath dress that went down just above the knee. It was pink, but not too bright which I loved. I had some neutral pumps and a clutch that would match the outfit so I didn't need to buy accessories. I also got a long sleeve white chiffon blouse and a pair of beige slacks for a business yet casual look for fall. Now, I had to go buy some pajamas for my mom and dad."Thank you so much.
