The Hunter Staring From The Woods

‘Unlock the Kalviyre.’

These words rang in her head, drowning out every other sound. Heidi watched the woman’s mouth moving without hearing the words; she didn’t care to read her lips either.

Everything started to blur until the woman’s face faded to that of the old, wrinkled lady, who seemed genuinely concerned for the younger one.

“Are you okay?” she asked softly, and Heidi jerked back to reality, looking around with eyes wide open.

She barely registered the old woman’s presence and nearly stumbled on the latter if she didn’t hold tight onto the sink.

She leaned over the sink to splash her face once more—this time with force, as if trying to shake off the lingering fog in her mind.

The old lady stood patiently and let the girl have her moment. Then when Heidi rose to her full height, ready to speak up, she listened carefully.

“I started having these weird dreams after I met Hunter…” Heidi began while looking into the mirror, noting how the bandage on her forehead had disfigured from
