He's The Murderer!

“Heidi, dear. Are you quite alright?” Magen’s voice is soft and laced with concern as she approaches the younger woman, following her gaze to the forest.

Yet, all she sees are the starved trees with their stretched branches shaped as skeletons of emptiness and woe.

Heidi, however, remains still while staring into the woods.

“Is something there, dearest?”

Heidi whimpers, her eyes filled with a dread that seems far too deep to touch.

“Hunter,” she says in a whisper. “He’s standing right there, looking at me.”

Magen frowns.

In her eyes, there is no one in the landscape except for her, Heidi, and the animals. But in Heidi’s, Hunter stands there, dark orbs fixed on her with a wolfish grin stretching his lips.

“Come on, let’s go inside.”

She holds the girl's shoulders in an attempt to lead her toward the house before Heidi jerks away from her grip, finally snapping from her trance-like state.

“No! I have to go!” She spins around and grabs Magen’s forearm, eyes wide and desperate. “Liste
