Chapter 103 : The Trap is Set

Lena's POV

The cold in the air made the hair on my body stand on its end as I sat rigidly on the unyielding chair, wrists secured behind me. My arms pounded from the coarse rope chafing against my skin, yet I didn't allow myself to focus on that. I had greater concerns on my mind.

Bianca had been in and out of the room for hours, taunting me, making sure I knew how much she enjoyed seeing me like this. But I was not going to give her the satisfaction of seeing me break down.

I was not going to cry. I was not going to beg.

Because I knew one thing with absolute certainty. Damian was coming for me.

But was it a trap?

I repeated all the things Bianca had told me. She wasn't keeping me here to torment me—she wanted something larger. Something to do with Ricci. And that scared the hell out of me.

The door groaned open once again, and I straightened automatically, concealing any trace of vulnerability.

Bianca walked in, her heels clicking against the floor, a s

I felt it—the storm that had yet to pass.Damian stood beside me, his gun still raised, his muscles taut as he listened. Footsteps echoed outside the warehouse in the distance. We weren't alone.I turned to Damian, my voice barely above a whisper. "They're coming, aren't they?"His jaw was clenched, his eyes black with something unreadable. "Ricci had expected this," he said. "He knew Bianca might fail. He had men hidden."A chill ran down my spine. "So what do we do?"Damian pulled me against him, his voice low and authoritative. "We fight our way out."My heart pounded. I had never fought before—not like this. But there was no time to be scared. We had to leave. The TrapThe instant we stepped into the corridor, we heard it. A car engine revved outside. Chapter One : The Price Of DesperationLena's PovThe inky night air hung thick and heavy upon me as I headed toward that dimly lit building, the crumpled address fisted in my hand. Every step felt like a jump into something far darker than I'd ever known, but this was my last hope.Damian Russo. His name could freeze blood in this city just from a mention in alleys and bars, served up with nothing more than a whispered warning. I had nothing but one hope-a desperate, foolish hope-and that was that he would help me, despite the stories, about what happened when one fell into his debt. But my mother was fading fast, her medical bills piling up, and this was the last door on which to knock. My legs trembled as I made my way down the corridor. Men of rough countenance watched from the shadows, their eyes cold and steady. One of them muttered something, and there was a ripple of laughter. I hurried my pace, hastening to drown my fear in thoughts of why I was here. But that did little good

Chapter Two : First CommandLenaThe morning was barely breaking, and the elements of light barely filtered through the sides of the thick curtains, but the house was quiet, dark, and foreboding. I had hardly slept, my mind plagued by the reality of what I'd agreed to, and the man I was indebted to.A knock came to my door, loud and heavy, impatient. Opening it with a racing heart, I found one of Damian's men waiting for me on the other side-a stone-faced giant of a man who didn't say a word. He merely cocked his head toward the hall, clearly meaning for me to follow.I followed him down the long, circling corridors, my feet growing heavier with each step. It was as if I were being taken into the mouth of something dark and monstrous. The quiet, the heavy silence, seemed to pulse around me and fill me with dread. We finally stopped in front of a broad, double-door entrance. Without making any noise, the guard opened it, gesturing for me to go inside alone. I pushed my legs forward, al

Chapter ThreeI sat in my small cold room, my fists clenched into my lap. The air felt thick and stifling, weighing upon me, as I tried to steady my breathing. I had promised myself that I was not going to cry, but here I was on the brink of it, rummaging through my mind for how I had gotten so deeply entrenched in this world. I didn't want to be here; I didn't belong here.A soft knock on the door startled me, and I hurriedly rubbed my eyes, steeled myself. The door creaked open, and a tall figure stepped inside. He was young, his face expressionless, yet his eyes held a faint glimmer of kindness I hadn't seen in anyone here. His name was Alex, one of Damian's men-or at least, that was my assumption. He cleared his throat; his eyes, upon meeting mine, were inscrutable. "He wants to see you," he said, softer than I had expected.I nodded, my stomach lurching at the idea of going into Damian's presence again. I shifted to stand, but my legs were like lead. I tried to conceal the trembl

Chapter Four"Tomorrow is the day I will be free from this place. It will be ten years that I have served him, and yet sometimes it feels I shouldn't go because of you. I just do not want to see you cry." Alex's voice was soft, full of compassion I hadn't expected from someone I barely knew. In the quiet sincerity, a voice that sounded as though it could break through the thick wall I had built. But his words cut through me in ways I wasn't prepared for.His eyes softened, and I noticed the slight tension in his jaw. I could feel the weight of the moment, and I wasn't sure how to respond. "I'm not asking you to do anything," Alex continued, almost as though reading my thoughts. "I just want you to get a chance to leave this place, a chance to breathe again without him controlling every step of the way. Tomorrow, when I am free, I will look for the money. I'll find it and you can use it to pay him off. You'll be free. You won't owe him anything. You won't have to stay here anymore."Hi

Chapter Five: Unspoken TensionsI stood quietly beside Damian, my heart pounding in my chest as I watched Alex move toward the door. With every step he took, it was like an echo through the silence separating us. I wanted to say something, anything that would make him stay, but words wouldn't come.Alex halted, his eyes catching mine behind him. Regret swirled in their depths, something deeper I couldn't quite place. I saw the twitch in his hand, as if he might reach out, as if he wanted to hold onto something before it was too late. But before I could take even one step toward him, Damian's voice cut through the air, commanding and cold."Just leave quietly, Alex.I froze; the chill of his tone seemed to settle deep into my bones. Alex hesitated, then nodded stiffly, turning away from me, his footsteps heavy with finality.I couldn't stop him. I didn't even try. Instead, I stayed rooted to the spot, my heart aching, watching him disappear through the door. For a long moment, Damian d

Chapter Six : The Maid in Her TerritoryIt was thick with tension in the air-suffocating, to say the least. It wasn't just the quietness of the space, the way everything seemed to pause in anticipation, with all of us waiting for something but what, I had no idea.I stood there, my pulse racing with each second that ticked. My gaze flickered to Damian; his posture was stiff, his jaw clenched as he looked toward the door. I could feel the unease radiating off him. But what really made my gut clench was Bianca. She'd been quietly sitting in the corner of the room, her sharp eyes watching me and waiting for something, anything, to go down.Damian seemed to sense the shift in the air, too. He turned to his girlfriend, Bianca, the words that were about to leave his mouth already forming on his lips, but Bianca beat him to it."You know," she began, her voice laced with a kind of sweet venom, "I think I need a maid in my territory and I am sure Lena is the person fit for the position"I fro

Chapter Seven : Under Bianca's RuleThe ride to Bianca's mansion was punishment. I sat in the back seat, quietly, my hands clasped tightly together, my stomach twisting in knots. Bianca sat up front, her laughter cutting through the air as she chatted on the phone. Every now and then, she'd glance at me through the rear view, her eyes full of disdain. When we finally arrived, the mansion loomed before me through the windows of my carriage, a predator ready to pounce. Immense in size, so cold, inhospitable. The towering gates grudgingly creaked open; I was shown inside without any complimentary formalities.Bianca didn't waste any time. "Follow me," she snarled, the heels clattering loud on marble floor as she took me down a long hall. There were expensive paintings decorating the walls, the floors gleamed, and every corner just seemed to scream wealth. Yet there was no warmth here, only this suffocating atmosphere of dominance. She halted before a small door and pushed it open. "This

Chapter 102Lena's POVPain. That was the initial sensation that hit me when I opened my eyes. Hurting in my shoulders and wrists, my muscles stiff from having been locked up for much too long. My head was throbbing, my eyes spinning as I blinked through the dim light blazing overhead.Where am I?I tried to move, but I was held back. Rope. Taut, rough, cutting into the skin of my wrists as they were bound behind the chair. My ankles were bound too, pinning me in place to the cold, unforgiving floor beneath me.Panic seared in my chest, but I forced myself to breathe slowly, steadily. I had to stay calm. I had to think. The last thing I remember was being in my room, talking to Damian. And then. nothing.I must have been kidnapped while sleeping.I lifted my head and took a look around the room. It was small, more of a storage room. The walls were made of shattered concrete, and the air smelled of dampness and dust. There was only one door, thick and metal, with no windows.I was a ca

Chapter 101Chapter 101: Unfolds, The Betrayal Damian's POVI didn't waste any time. I instructed Lena to stay back, then sped off with Logan, my mind racing a mile a minute. Bianca had sided with Antonio Ricci, and now nothing was the same.Ricci was no ordinary criminal. He was a tactician, a man who existed for dominance. If Bianca had gone to him, it meant she was desperate—or she was planning something much greater than I'd imagined. We drove in silence, the weight of the moment resting heavily on us. Logan sat next to me in the front seat, his jaw set as he read over the contents of the folder he'd given me before."We have one lead," he finally broke the silence. "There's a guy named Marco. He works for Ricci, but he's been feeding information to us for months.".I clenched my fists around the steering wheel. "Does he know Bianca's going to turn him in?""He says he does."That was enough to hear.We arrived at a deserted warehouse on the outskirts of the city fifteen minutes

Chapter Hundred : Uncovering the TruthDamian's POVI sat at my desk in my office, staring at the papers scattered around. My mind was a mess of thoughts, each one more dangerous than the last. Bianca had been playing a game, one that I hadn't seen coming until it was almost too late. Now I needed to figure out her final move before she could utilize it.I tapped my fingers against the wooden desk, my patience running out. All of my leads so far had pointed to the same thing—Bianca was planning something bigger, something worse than she'd ever tried before. There was a knock at the door, and I was pulled from my thoughts."Enter," I snapped. The door opened and Logan, my most trusted right-hand man, entered. His face was tense, his jaw tight. That was never a good sign."We found something," he said, placing a folder before me.I opened it without hesitation, my eyes scanning the contents. There were photographs, timestamps, and detailed reports. Bianca had been meeting with someone—s

Chapter Ninety Nine: The Final GambitDamian's POVThe room was still except for the metronomic tick of the ancient clock on the wall. My shoulder ached from the gunshot wound, the ache a dull reminder Lucas had fired the shot.He had shot me.Not Bianca. Not one of her brainless mercenaries. Lucas. My own brother.Rafael sat across from me, arms crossed over his chest, annoyance etched into his posture. He had not said a word since we returned to the safe house, but now his temper was flared."We have to talk about this," he stated.I didn't say anything."You hesitated," he pressed on, his voice a little harsher this time. "You had a chance to take him down, and you didn't do it."My jaw was set hard. "He's not the enemy."Rafael laughed. "He shot you, Damian."I knew that. I felt that. But something in Lucas' eyes that moment—right as he took the shot—gave me the assurance that there was still something left of him. Something of himself that wasn't taken away entirely by Bianca's

I stood in the window, gripping the hem of the curtain as I leaned into the darkness. Each shadow, each waver of motion seemed a possible threat.Bianca had crossed the line this time.Lucas… I did not know if he had survived the explosion. And if he did, I was certain of one thing—he would not stop until he had my head. Bianca had done her work to him, poisoned his mind, and now he was just another enemy I had to get rid of.A forceful rap on the door broke my train of thought."It's me."I recognized the voice immediately—Rafael, my most trusted right-hand man. I opened the door wide enough to let him in before closing it behind him. He was dressed in black, his expression grim."We discovered something," he said, handing me the folder. "He's been lurking in the shadows for years, Damian. He's been pulling strings as we've been distracted with Bianca. We underestimated him."I clenched my teeth, focusing.
