Chapter 103 : The Trap is Set

Lena's POV

The cold in the air made the hair on my body stand on its end as I sat rigidly on the unyielding chair, wrists secured behind me. My arms pounded from the coarse rope chafing against my skin, yet I didn't allow myself to focus on that. I had greater concerns on my mind.

Bianca had been in and out of the room for hours, taunting me, making sure I knew how much she enjoyed seeing me like this. But I was not going to give her the satisfaction of seeing me break down.

I was not going to cry. I was not going to beg.

Because I knew one thing with absolute certainty. Damian was coming for me.

But was it a trap?

I repeated all the things Bianca had told me. She wasn't keeping me here to torment me—she wanted something larger. Something to do with Ricci. And that scared the hell out of me.

The door groaned open once again, and I straightened automatically, concealing any trace of vulnerability.

Bianca walked in, her heels clicking against the floor, a s

Chapter 104 : The MoveLena's POVThe air reeked of gunpowder and blood. My hands shook still from the events that had transpired. Bianca was dead. But the sweetness of triumph was short-lived. I felt it—the storm that had yet to pass.Damian stood beside me, his gun still raised, his muscles taut as he listened. Footsteps echoed outside the warehouse in the distance. We weren't alone.I turned to Damian, my voice barely above a whisper. "They're coming, aren't they?"His jaw was clenched, his eyes black with something unreadable. "Ricci had expected this," he said. "He knew Bianca might fail. He had men hidden."A chill ran down my spine. "So what do we do?"Damian pulled me against him, his voice low and authoritative. "We fight our way out."My heart pounded. I had never fought before—not like this. But there was no time to be scared. We had to leave. The TrapThe instant we stepped into the corridor, we heard it. A car engine revved outside. Chapter 101: The CalmLena's POVThe warehouse was quiet now. Too quiet. The shooting had stopped. The screams had died down. The only thing left was the scent of blood and gunpowder in the air. My whole body ached, but I wasn't certain if it was due to my wounds or due to the weight of what had just transpired.Ricci was dead. Bianca was dead.It was done.Yet as I stood there, gazing out at the corpses on the ground, a deep, unsettling feeling crawled up my spine. Was it truly over? Or had we just started a war we were not ready for?Damian shifted with me, his own weapon still clutched in his fist. His breath came in strained, controlled gasps, but I could feel the rigidity in his posture. His jaw was clenched, his eyes narrowed and calculating. His mind was already on the next move."Lena." His tone was rough, little more than a command. "We need to move. Now."I swallowed and nodded. I lacked the energy to object. The adrenaline was beginning to wear off, and my body was

Chapter One Hundred and Six: The Enemy Show Their FacesLena's POVThe air in the room was charged. I sat on the couch, gripping the fabric of my dress in my hands, trying to take a deep breath. Damian hadn't said much since he'd told me that Ricci had been involved. He stood in front of the window, his silhouette against the subdued city lights, his shoulders hunched up, his jaw set.Something was wrong.I could feel it.It wasn't about Bianca anymore. Something—or someone—else was at play. Someone powerful enough to make Ricci listen. And that frightened me.Damian whirled around, his black eyes fastened on mine. "Get up. We're leaving.""What?" I frowned. "Where are we going?"He didn't answer. He grabbed his gun from the table and inspected it before holstering it. Logan walked into the room, his face serious. "We found someone. He might have answers."I stood up slowly, my heart pounding.Damian came to stand beside me, his presence smothering. "Stay at my side. Whatever you hear

Damian had been missing for hours now, and I sat at the window still staring into the dark. Sleep couldn't be fathomed. My head whirled in terror and outrage.I was smart. I realized what was happening—I was kept in the dark. Once more.Damian thought he was doing it for my safety, but what he was really doing was making me feel powerless. And I hated feeling powerless. The whispers, the creepy stares from his men, the sudden change in the way people acted around me—it all meant something. Something that I wasn't supposed to know.Bianca was plotting something. Antonio Ricci was involved. And Damian was going to war for it.Without me.I clenched my fists and breathed heavily. I could not stay here and wait for things to happen. If I stayed on the sidelines, then I would be an easy target. I needed to be in control of my own fate. The door opened and Loga

I was frozen in place, fists clenched at my sides. My heart pounded so hard it hurt, but I forced myself to keep breathing normally.I was not weak. I would not break.Damian stood behind his desk, his back to me. His shoulders were stiff, his hands on the edge of the table as if he was trying to hold himself together. He had just killed someone who was in his inner circle. Someone whom he trusted. And yet, he showed no remorse in his position. But rather, cold calculation. The room was quiet, thick with it. Logan and the others had already left, Marco's body with them, leaving us. I knew I needed to do something, but I had no idea what.Would it even matter?I swallowed and took one step forward. Chapter One Hundred and Nine: A Dangerous BargainDamian's POVThe scent of gasoline and salt hung in the air as I stepped out of the black SUV, my boots crunching into the gravel of the empty dock. The waters were still, too quiet, as though the ocean itself was holding its breath in anticipation. A single warehouse stood in the distance, its rusted front blending it into the darkness. This was where Antonio Ricci had chosen to meet me.I adjusted the gun in my holster, the comforting weight digging into my side. Two of my best men and Logan stood behind me, their faces cold, their hands on their guns. I wouldn't have been surprised if this meeting had turned into a shootout within seconds."Stay sharp," I muttered. Logan nodded curtly, his eyes scanning the area.A moment later, the large metal doors of the warehouse creaked open, and a man stepped out. Antonio Ricci. His suit was a sharp gray, the fabric barely ruffling in the soft breeze. His dark eyes locked onto mine, and the co

Chapter One Hundred and Ten: The Shadow Closing InLena's POVThere had been this odd sense creeping over me for days. It was low-key at first—merely a feeling of discomfort, a voice in my head telling me that something wasn't quite right. But the longer it went on, the more difficult it was to shake. It was the way Damian's men looked at me when they believed I didn't see them. The hushed words that ended the moment I walked into a room. The way Damian himself had been acting—tense, reserved, as though he bore a weight too heavy for any single individual. And then the small but undeniable things. The first was the black car that constantly appeared.I had caught a glimpse of it two days prior while darting about on errands. I did not think anything of it at first, then noticed it again. And again. A black sedan with tinted windows, cruising a fancy foreign vehicle. Parked just far enough away not to raise suspicions, always coming different times but never once coming near. The secon

Chapter One Hundred and Eleven: The Hunt BeginsDamian's POVI sat in the dimly lit office, my fingers clasped tightly around a glass of whiskey I hadn't even taken a drink from. The room was silent, with only the sound of the clock on the wall marking the time, each second ticking by longer than the last. My mind was reeling, taking all of the information I had on Bianca and Ricci. She'd made her final card, and I wasn't going to sit there and wait for the next move to be taken on her behalf. It was time to take the initiative.Logan came in with a groan of the door, his expression serious. "We have a lead," he said, slamming a file down onto my desk.I opened it immediately, reading the information. Photos, timestamps, where. Ricci's men had been entering and exiting the old warehouse off the docks—a place Bianca had been seen near recently."She's hiding there," I snarled, my jaw tightening.Logan nodded. "It's likely. Watching me.I felt sick.My heart pounded in my chest. My hands trembled as I slowly placed the photo on the table. Damian stood across from me, arms crossed, his jaw tight with anger. But he wasn’t just angry. He was scared. I could see it in his eyes. And that scared me even more.“She was close enough to take this,” I whispered. “That means… she could have hurt me anytime.”“She didn’t,” Damian said quickly, walking to me. “She didn’t, and she won’t. I won’t let her.”I nodded, but fear crawled up my spine like cold fingers. I turned my head toward the window. The garden looked peaceful. The sun was shining. But now it felt like a trap. Like eyes were hiding behind every tree.I looked at Damian. “What if she’s still watching?”“She’s not,” he said firmly. “We swept the grounds. She’s gone.”“Bu

The city outside my window was quiet, but inside my head, it was chaos. Bianca’s face kept flashing in my mind—smiling, cold, dangerous. I knew her well enough to understand one thing. She wasn’t done yet.Lena was still sleeping when I left. I didn’t want to wake her. Not because I didn’t trust her strength—but because I didn’t want her to see the war I was about to step into. I had promised to protect her. And now, I had to keep that promise with everything I had.Logan was already waiting downstairs.“She moved again,” he said, holding a file. “But we have something. A man named Nico—he used to work for Ricci. He wants to talk.”“Why?” I asked.“He says he has information. Chapter 125Lena’s POV – Preparing for the StormThe soft hum of the safe house’s lights was the only sound that accompanied me as I paced back and forth across the room. The floor was cold beneath my bare feet, but I barely felt it. My mind was racing, a storm of thoughts that I couldn’t seem to quiet.Damian had gone into another room hours ago, speaking in hushed tones to Logan. The urgency in their voices had been undeniable, but I hadn’t been able to get close enough to hear the details. I hated being left out of the plan, hated feeling like a liability. I wasn’t the same vulnerable person I had been when I first walked into this world. But still, no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t shake the sense of helplessness that seemed to cling to me, suffocating me with every passing minute.I walked to the window, peering out into the darkness. Chapter: Lena’s POV - The AftermathThe silence in the room was deafening. The kind of silence that fills your ears and makes every tiny sound seem amplified. It was the quiet after chaos. After the explosion, the gunfire, the running. After the moment when my life, and Damian’s, nearly slipped away in the blink of an eye.I sat on the edge of the bed, staring at my hands, which were still shaking. The memory of the bomb—its deafening roar—was fresh in my mind, every detail still vivid. Damian’s urgent hands on my arm, pulling me into his protection, the heat of the blast, the smell of smoke and dust that had choked the air. The sound of the glass shattering, the metallic scent of blood in the air. I had never been so close to death, yet here I was, alive. But was I really living? I felt numb, detached from everything around me.Damian had ordered me to stay here, in this safe house, a place where I had never felt more like a prisoner. There were no windows, no doors to the outside wo

The evil red numerals on the device pulsed, a grim reminder that every second ticked us closer to disaster.Bianca leaned against the cold ground, her body shaking in weakness due to the wounds I had inflicted upon her before. Nonetheless, despite the pain, she smirked. Her deep, bloodshot eyes gleamed with twisted satisfaction. She thrived in such chaos. "You'll never be able to prevent it in time," she whispered, licking blood from her cut lip.I clenched my fists, my patience wearing perilously thin. My heart pounded in my ears, the rage within me kept barely under control by the fear of what was at risk."Shut up," Logan snarled, bent over the bomb. His hands flew across the wires, but even he couldn't hide the sweat at his temples. "This is not an ordinary bomb—it's encoded. If I cut the wro

Chapter 11”: The Trap Lena’s POV The silence in the room was suffocating. I stood frozen, my heart hammering against my ribs as I stared at Damian. His face was stone-cold, but his eyes burned with barely contained fury. Logan had just delivered the news—Bianca had taken someone. Someone close to me. I swallowed hard, my throat dry. My fingers curled into fists as I struggled to process it. “Who?” My voice came out hoarse. Logan hesitated, glancing at Damian before answering. “Mia.” A sharp pain shot through my chest. Mia. The only person who had ever been like a sister to me. The girl who had stayed by my side when no one else did. The thought of her in Bianca’s hands made my stomach churn. I took a shaky breath and turned to Damian. “We have to go. Now.” He didn’t answer immediately. His jaw was tight, his muscles tense as if he were barely restraining himself. “It’s not that simple,” he finally said. My eyes flashed with anger. “What do you mean? She has Mia! Are you ser

Chapter One Hundred and Twenty a one: A Perilous MissionLena's POVThe night was abnormally still as I crouched next to Logan behind a row of abandoned boxes outside the warehouse. The cold wind nipped my skin, but the surging adrenaline coursing through my veins prevented me from feeling it. This was it. Bianca's operation. One of her most important warehouses, where she had stored weapons, money, and intel that could be used against her. Blowing it up would eliminate a good chunk of her might. It wasn't just a matter of incinerating her resources, though. It was a matter of finding out what she had in store. Why she had allied herself with Antonio Ricci.Logan handed me an earpiece, his expression serious. "Stay close. No unnecessary risks. If something does go wrong, we leave right away."I grinned wryly. Damian was always standing, always directing everything. But now, he was hanging by a thread barely. And this is all Bianca's doing.I swallowed the lump in my throat, and fought to keep my cool. I didn't have time to lose it. I didn't have time to let fear get the best of me. Bianca wasn't finished yet. She had already demonstrated how far she would go. Logan was beside me, firing at Bianca's men while I held onto Damian, trying to keep him awake. He was too white. Too quiet. His chest rose and fell shallowly, and blood trickled through the bandages I'd slapped across his wound."Stay with me," I breathed, jostling him lightly.
