LENEVE

Once the bright brilliant light had died down, we found ourselves standing in the darkness of the tree’s cavity once more. My hand was still in Rhett’s, and he held it tightly. I didn’t want him to ever let go.

Unfortunately, he did. I felt the loss of contact, like icy wind the coldness of his absence swept up my arm sending a shiver down my spine. “The dagger?” I question wanting to make sure our efforts were not for nothing.

Rhett shifts Oliver's body and feels for the dagger that he stuffed in his belt, which amazingly was the only thing holding the shreds of his pants together.

Appreciatively my eyes wander over his semi-naked form, and I recall how he felt against me and inside me. Was it wrong that I wanted him to take me again if even he was for his own personal use?

He produces the mythical weapon and holds it up, the light provided from outside the tree faintly showed us the object, “Got it.” He says with resolve.

“Rhett!” Finn's yelling could be heard outside of

Well at least they got the dagger, but it looks like we are back to square one, and now it's Leneve who says she doesn't want Rhett to claim her. I don't blame her for being scared that Rhett will just dismiss her. She's been dealt that hand her whole life. Maybe now she is waking up to how Rhett basically used her. Happy Monday all. I hope you have a wonderful day xx

Rhett is rejecting Len over and over again which is worse than Jonda’s rejection as she was not of sound mind when she came back. She least had a good reason that she was in love with Mike, but Rhett is being a total ass and wuss for rejecting Leneve. Someone needs to slap him out of his idiocy.

It makes sense for Len to not want Rhett because he could be claiming her to get Lamia back and not because he wants her. Rhett is seriously being an idiot. At this point I don’t even feel sympathetic towards him. He needs to get over Jonda’s rejection and move on.

well for Rhett being "worthy" ugh he's being a total jackass! his ongoing self pity makes me wish I could literally slap him... I'd be getting shredded to pieces LoL

RHETT Silence followed when I shut the door to the small room, that joined with Leneve’s, behind me. While the changelings celebrated their victory and Oliver was being tended to, we shifters retired to our rooms. I hadn’t seen Leneve since Finn had carried her off. It was for the best. Finn had notified me that Leneve was in her room with the twin Lycans and that he had also contacted Mathias. After finding out Leneve, Oliver and I hadn’t actually moved from the position of entering the doorway into the tree, I began to wonder just how powerful that old woman, Yggdrasil really was. And if everything she put us through was just a ruse so she could be set free. Mason seemed to think that she had been trapped in there and by removing the dagger, it had allowed her to leave. *Hunji, I'm sure you know by now, but I have the dagger.* I open up a mind link to the Asiarian wolf and feel the connection right away. *I have been informed.* I hear the reply come through as I settle on the sm

LENEVE For a human, time moves quickly. This realm moves quickly. For Lycans, time is slow. Forever changing. When we connect with our beast, we become one. We do not share a mind like the other shifters. We have no spirit animal. We are the animal. The animal is us. We imprint like the bears. We mark like the wolf. And we fuck like cats. And a Lycan mates for life. I was angry and hurt. Jealous when I found the changeling naked in his room. He knew I was his mate and yet he was still going to take another to his bed. Did the kiss mean nothing? Did saying ‘mine,’ verbally claiming me, mean nothing to him? Or that it was because of me his beast finally emerged? I had tried. I truly did. I exposed my vulnerability to him and still, he coldly pushed me away like I was nothing. Like I meant nothing to him. He had even been aroused by the young female. The anger of the situation and his easy dismal of me spread throughout. It climbed up and over me until I felt my beast and magic twin

RHETT Grogginess hits me as my eyes slowly open, and immediately I feel the weight of Leneve’s body sprawled across mine. We hadn't even managed to make it to the small bed. We had crashed on the floor, wrapped around one another. I barely remember falling asleep and shifting her body to lay on mine. Visions of our night played through my head as I listened to her softly breathe. The things I said, the way I acted. What I drove her to do. I feel a pinch in my heart at the thought of Leneve trying to break our bond. How much would that have hurt her if she had completed her efforts? I didn’t want to think about the pain she would have caused herself. I had driven her to that. Me and my own selfishness. But it wasn’t without reason. In an attempt to protect my own heart from being shattered again, I had, without thought, broken hers. Strangely, I can't stand to see the little Lycan hurt, yet I am the one who has probably caused her the most pain. Emotions stir inside me, and I repla

RHETT Like all the rooms, this one was no different. Dark and musty. Only this room held a fireplace, the only thing that cast light around the room, shadows flickered on the walls from the flames that danced in the small opening. It wasn’t unusually cold, especially for a shifter. So, the need for a fire to be burning escaped me. A wing-backed chair sat in front of the mantel, and I could just make out a figure slumped in the leather seat shrouded by the shadows. My nose twitched as I scented the air, my senses had become acutely stronger these past few days. Picking up a smell that reminded me of the chamber in the tree. It was a smell of sickness that lingered in the air accompanied by death that hovered waiting to claim its victim. I looked at Finn and Mason, who both wore knitted brows and gave me a knowing luck. They too had picked up on the unhealthy stench in the air. “Olly,” Petra gently calls his name, placing a hand on his shoulder tenderly. The wolf in the chair adjus

  • Dawn of the Hunters   Chapter 42 – Beyond a Lycan

LENEVE It was pouring down rain. In the distance, I could see the chard remains of the Tree of Life. It burned all day and night, the flames only going out once the rain had come. Absently I lift my hand to my neck, feeling the mark that now rested there. Was I happy I had been fully claimed? Yes. It’s what I wanted. Except did Rhett only do it to save my life? If I hadn’t swallowed the poison that almost killed me, would he have claimed me? The little voice in my head said no. It was his beast that had given me his mark, not Rhett. At least now I knew why he hadn’t wanted to mark me. He had been wronged and it had left a nasty taste in his mouth. It made me feel slightly better knowing it wasn’t me but something else that had turned him off from the idea of marking a mate. Since I had recovered from healing Oliver, my mind had been in a fog. I was still a little pale and shaky. The dark magic I had siphoned was powerful, beyond what I could fathom and beyond my own powers. It was

RHETT I was acutely aware of everything Leneve. I could sense her presence. Where she was, what her current mood was, and how her scent had changed. It still oozed maple sweetness with that earthy undertone, but it was now mixed with something more masculine. A scent that was familiar to me because it was mine. I picked up on Leneve’s current disposition of uncertainty. She was just as unsure about me marking her as I was. I knew why I had my hesitations, but I was unsure of hers. I thought this was what she wanted. I thought she would be happy that I had claimed and mated her. Instead, she had sulked off and wandered down the road as changelings had begun to bring up trunks full of weapons Senko had fashioned when he was still alive. “Milo,” I call to the head changeling. “Follow Leneve. You say you are bound to her. Well, it’s now your duty to guard her. Make sure she is okay.” Milo opens his mouth, the changeling reluctant to say something but does anyway. “Isn’t she your mate,

  • Dawn of the Hunters   Chapter 44 – Yin and Yang

LENEVE Like a goddess, a vision of pureness and all that is good stood the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. Almost white, her hair fell in curls down her shoulders, and her violet eyes gleamed with powerful magic. Our eyes met and a connection formed. My dark magic reached out toward her, and I felt the pureness of hers seek me. Like kindred spirits, invisible threads wrapped around each other. Like long lost friends our magic twined and embraced one another. A puff of air left my mouth as I felt her mind probe mine. I saw the confusion in the light witch's eyes as if it had taken her by surprise too. The dark-skinned wolf with long black hair by her side growled. I could see him look between us as his eyes began to shine a beautiful golden color, then turning black. Just like Rhett’s the dark eyes held a flash of white in the center and I knew he was one of the Queens four knights. The tension in the room became thick, our magic stifling the air and the worry of her mate and

  • Dawn of the Hunters   Chapter 45 – Out of Place

LENEVE I made my excuses and left Morgan's suite, finding myself in the same room I had stayed in before. Across the hall from Nero and Nolt. For some time, I lay on the floor staring up at the blank white canvas of the ceiling. I had never had to think about so much so hard. The white witch, Morgan, needed me to help cast a stone from blood. One that would be placed in the dagger. Then Rhett had to stab a man, not just any man but his best friend and Alpha through the heart because it's what was foretold. All that to tear open a veil between realms. Something was missing from the plan. I just couldn’t put my finger on it at the moment. Maybe tomorrow when all parties are present, I will have a better idea of what is meant to happen and how. I was definitely a willing participant. I said I would help Rhett bring Queen Lamia home in any way I could. And I will. I hear the laughter of Nero and Nolt accompanied by the sound of female giggling. I smiled to myself, noting they had fou

Chapter 1 – Through New Eyes LAMIA The night of the blood moon Seneca finally quieted down only when there was quiet. She slept peacefully in my arms as I stood at the window looking out over the rolling landscape of MacTire. I felt indifferent staring at the dark mountains lit only by the glow of the moon and the sparkle of the stars. A night sky I had dreamed of seeing once more. Now I was gazing upon it, it felt strange. Different and new. It wasn’t how I remembered it. It was more beautiful than I remembered. The soft clicking of boots coming down the hall reached my ears. I didn’t bother to turn wh

  • Dawn of the Hunters   Chapter 53 – The Wolf Who Is Not

RHETT Two days after the Blood Moon News of the return of King Kellen and Queen Lamia spread quickly. The realm rejoiced and for two nights MacTire celebrated along with other kingdoms and packs. The realm was renewed with the hope that we would be saved from the underworld god's wrath. I wish I could share the excitement. Maybe I would if I didn’t know any better. Reports said Andora burned day and night as the dark army swept through the country. Tobias had relayed that Aodh’s armies had reached the borders of Bhakhil and they were preparing to fight on the front lines any day now. Sources told us another platoon of soldiers had reached the shores of Batsia the night Lamia and Kellen returned. I was in the midst of preparing the INE to move out as soon as possible to try and cut off the army before they crossed through Lewe or Mir and reached the kingdoms they bordered. It was time for the Changelings to shine. I wasn’t sure if they were ready or not, though I don’t think any o

  • Dawn of the Hunters   Chapter 52 – The Return of the Queen

LENEVE Alpha Travis lay on the ground. Oliver was barking orders at Beta Mike to help him, Who didn’t care to be talked to by the once rogue, but came to the Alpha’s side anyway. Rhett stood in horror as he watched Mike conjure sparks of magic and attempt to restart the Alpha’s heart. In the midst of everything happening two figures appeared on the otherised of the hole between realms. Tawny cried out upon seeing the lost queen and king. Morgan and Hunji didn’t know where to look. The rest, including myself, stood with mouths gaping opening as the most beautiful creature crossed the barrier. I fell to my knees as recognition came over me. The deep green eyes of the mortal goddess looked upon me. The queen of shifters had returned. The male next to her stood tall and intimidating. A scar marred his face but it did not detract from the incredible blue of his eyes. The child in the queen's arms began to cry. Her sobs became louder and turned into screams. Her little hands covered her

  • Dawn of the Hunters   Chapter 51 – Chasm Under the Blood Moon

RHETT I walk with Leneve, as slowly as we can, back downstairs and through to the back of the castle where a set of double doors leads to the gardens. My breath hitches, and my hands begin to shake when I see the gathering of all the major players including Travis who stands in the middle of the group with Mathias. I run one hand down my pants, wiping off the clamminess that gathers on my palm. I try to release Leneve's hand to wipe that one but her little fingers are wound tight around mine. I look down at the small Lycan witch who offers me a reassuring smile. She doesn’t need words, I can see in her eyes what she says. Telling me to do what feels right and that she is by my side no matter what. She stands with me, not behind or in front but by my side no matter what happens. It’s a comfort and reassurance that I didn’t know I needed. One that helped when I saw the watchful eyes of those who expected me to perform an act I was not keen on performing. “So how's this going to go

  • Dawn of the Hunters   Chapter 50 - Tension and Intent

RHETT Like a black cloud tension hung in the air. MacTire palace grounds and its people were eerily and unusually quiet than normal. The atmosphere was thick with a forlorn vibe that passed from one shifter to another. It was no longer a secret what was going to happen once the moon rose tonight. Whispers could be heard, the warriors gossiped, and the palace keepers mumbled protests under their breath. No one was happy about the deed I was meant to perform tonight. Least of all me. I thought I could keep my mind off the pending events by ignoring them. It had worked up until now. “Damn, I bet you are the most hated shifter in MacTire right now,” Mason says with a mocking tone. I shoot him an annoyed glance as we make our way to the training grounds. I thought maybe some light sparing would keep my mind focused on something other than stabbing my best friend. “He probably is.” My smile is weak as Tawny struts across the field in our direction. “I mean shit, Travis is loved by every

RHETT My hand gently splays across Leneve’s naked body, coming to rest on the flat of her stomach. The tips of my fingers flex where a child, my child, grows inside her. By any nature’s law, it would be too soon to know if she was indeed pregnant. However, I had learned not to question Morgan’s knowledge over the years, so I knew it was true. Leneve would bear our child and this child would grow up with both of its parents. They would know love unconditionally and they would have a sister who I had no doubt would spoil their sibling. In the exact way, I looked after Ria, this child would have an elder sister who would do the same. “Untie me, Rhett.” “Not yet,” I mumble to Leneve, my thoughts still on the life we created. I had made good on my promise. Leneve was still bound to my bed, a beautiful mess lying in a puddle of her own mess. I had made her shake and shudder, her body convulsing with orgasm after orgasm until it was me who couldn’t stand to hear her beg. Until I gave in a

  • Dawn of the Hunters   Chapter 48 – A New Stone

RHETT I spent the rest of the morning with Leneve and Angelica, watching as they played and laughed. So many new feelings were surfacing, and I hoped this would be a new normal I would be navigating in the near future. Two weeks ago, if someone had told me that I was Lycan, not half-wolf and there was a beast hidden inside me. I wouldn’t have believed them. If someone had told me I would meet a second chance mate, one I didn’t want, and one I would end up falling for more with each passing day; I would have laughed and told them to take a hike. Yet here I sat on the damp grass watching the two females who held my heart play chase. Leneve was genuine with her reactions; she wore her heart on her sleeve, and I’ve noticed she doesn’t hide her emotions well. So, the way her face lit up when Angelica smiled, made me smile. I caught myself as my lips curled up and my changing expression froze. I can’t remember the last time I smiled. The last time I enjoyed a moment in the day. Minus whe

  • Dawn of the Hunters   Chapter 47 – The Details

LENEVE The two young pups were taken from the room by an older female werebear, leaving the grownups to sit and talk. Platters of food were brought to the table along with juice and water. My surrounding company began to pile their plates high, mates making up plates for their females. In our Clan, it was every Lycan for themselves. I can’t remember once when my father fed my mother, never mind making up a plate for her. She would probably slap it out of his hand thinking it was poisoned if he did. “You need to eat,” Rhett whispers in my ear, grabbing my folded hands beneath the table. “I lost my appetite.” I lie. A low unhappy growl emanates from Rhett. I turn my head to look at him, only to see those green eyes staring at me intensely. The look sets off a tingling sensation throughout my body, remembering the way he looked at me last night as he made love to me. “Fine.” I concede when he doesn’t let up and reach for the tongues to grab some bacon. I thought it was going to be a

  • Dawn of the Hunters   Chapter 46 – A Circle of Magic

RHETT “The blood moon is in two days.” I give Travis a painful look and raise my sword, ready to spar again. “Don’t remind me,” I say, twisting to the side as he plunges his weapon towards me. I spin, knocking his back with my shoulder. “Rhett, it must be done.” Travis turns with a sweeping motion, his leg catching mine. I fall to the floor, dust licking the air from the heaviness of my body. “How are you okay with what I’m meant to do?” I stand back up dropping my guard because I don’t feel like sparring anymore. “Seriously, I can’t do it. There is no way I can stab you in the heart.” “I rather it be you than anyone else.” He tells me honestly, now dropping his sword to his side. “Well, that’s the catch. No one else can hold the dagger. So, if I don’t, no one will.” Well, no one but Travis, my thoughts take me back to the way he easily held the dagger, unlike Oliver. It sounds so good in my head. If I refused what was said to be my destiny, then there’s no way it could happen.
