A new job

Adele's POV

"Brother Rob, tell me how did you manage?" I asked him over phone.

"I didn't do anything. You were efficient. " A deep voice replied. 

"I am damn sure I got the job just because of your recommendation letter. How are you connected with Knight Enterprises ?" I was being suspicious. Bother Rob was the one who helped me a lot in LA both in personal and professional life. He was the one I can rely on without any question. But why he helped me that much was still not clear to me...

"Nothing like that. You are not even permanent. They just gave you a trial. Don't forget that." He tried to convince me. But getting a trial job in Knight Enterprises was not a matter of seconds.

"Let's see who takes the trial." I asked him playfully.

"Damn you girl! You just made me write a recommendation letter just because of your irregular job!! Kill me. You just ruined someone's career." 

Fire alert! He was getting angry. 

"Heyy!! Calm down. You knew it before." Of course he knew I was not interested in getting permanent. I am just here to finish a game started long ago. I will leave after completing it. How could I give a damn about a permanent job where I didn't even care about my own company? He must be joking.

"Hmmm. I did what I could but now you need to be careful. Tell me if you need any help." His voice became soft just within a second. 

"It's not something you can help. I need to do it by myself. My stoppage came. By for now." I ended the call and sighed deeply. I chose to be alone in the game. Now I need to finish it alone.

After getting down from the subway,I walked for 10 minutes and reached in front of a skyscraper building. The name of the company was eye catching. It is written in big letters Knight Enterprises. Knight Enterprises, here I am for my work. It is my first day of office. Here I am working in HR department. 

I know it's funny to leave a life of luxury and run after a decent job ignoring so much facilities but I can't help. My life won't allow me to stay here for long. After all I left my home. That sweet home and the sweetest people are waiting for me. 

I went to the elevator unaware of CEO's private one.  Everyone was looking at me. Actually I dared! Suddenly a guard stopped me yelling," How dare you use this one. Don't you know it's only for CEO?" I was like whattt!!!! What's wrong with the CEOs? Why can they not just live a usual life? Every CEO I knew was really really spoilt. 

Owwo.... Ain't I a CEO too?

OK, nevermind. 

I took another elevator and straight went to the HR department. I reported to the manager and again I was scolded for that elevator issue. I don't know why just that elevator became a big issue. I am a cruel and bossy person who never like to be scolded by others except family and friends. It is such a bad day. That neat freak CEO is seriously a bad influence. Hope he will not ask me to meet personally for this minor issue. But luck never favors me. I was called by one of his assistants to his office. He lectured me for half an hour and gave me a list of to do's and not to do's. He also added because of my first day, I was saved.

Returning to my office, I stared to work. These accounts and finance were never a problem for me. I love to do maths and these are really easy.Five of the newcomers joined today. Me, Noah, Blake, Rose and Eva. We got our cabins together. They seemed to dislike me. Actually I know the reason. They think I used influence to get the job, which is partly true.

Blake came to talk to me. But I was not interested in anything except my own work. Sensing my reluctance, no one came to me for a talk. Actually I am not a workaholic when I am in my own city or when with friends or family. But now I hardly care about new friends because they will be just for one months or two. Maybe I will not meet them after my departure. 

The whole day passed by working. On my way back, I got a call from an unknown number.

"Alede speaking. " I said in a serious tone.

"Madam, master wants to meet you tonight. " 

That voice! Urghh! That voice was somewhat familiar.  master? Who the hell is that? 

Fuck! 

I muttered under the breath. 

It's the butler of that villa where I was for one day or two. I even forgot I had any marital home. I left it when I lost the hope to see my husband's precious shadow. The master must be my so called husband. 

I raised an eyebrow. Why does the mystery man need to meet me? How come the mighty cares about a little helpless poor soul?! Is something cooking up? 

Whatever!

I can't meet him tonight. I still have some works to do.

"Madam. Master said he will be...." He tried to inform me. But I care less about that man. My mission is my first priority. 

"I can't meet him tonight. I have other plans. I am free tomorrow. So tell him to change the plan." I cut him off and disconnected the call. Sighing deeply, I started walking.

A car stopped in front of me. I got into it and started for a remote warehouse. The day is very important for me. Because I will meet that man who killed my parents in front of my eyes, who made me and my two younger siblings orphan just in a blink of eyes. How could I take another appointment? I can't afford to miss the chance to meet him.

After all, for the last two years, I was finding him.
