Chapter Sixty-four

Athena was gone. She had made it safely away without anyone tailing her. She had done everything that she had been instructed to the letter. Bridgette sighed as a mopey Marco made his way down the stairs. It was early yet and Bridgette was getting breakfast ready for her two rambunctious wards. She smiled tenderly at him as he climbed on the chair and rubbed his eyes sleepily. 

“You okay?” She asked, coming to sit next to him with a cup of coffee.

“I don’t know… It’s not like she  was my best friend…” He answered with a shrug. 

“I get it.” Bridgette said not needing to ask further questions. “Everything that was familiar in your life is now gone. That’s always hard to take, especially when you’re not ready for it to disappear.”
