Hello my lovelies,
Sorry for the late and incosistent updates. I had a problem with the laptop I am using and kept running into problems updating using my phone. That being said, I will have quite a few chapters coming soon since I was still writing by hand this whole time. A few things to note before the next chapters come out. The book will be ending soon. I understand that I still have a whole bunch of unanswered questions and plot points to go through but remember this is a series. They will be answered in due time. I know some of you will not be satisfied with the ending but there is whole lot to go over and this is a story line I have been working on for years.
Bridgette sighed and leaned back in her seat. She rubbed at her tired eyes and frowned. Her back ached and her fingers were cramped. She had spent most of her time going through files and working on getting the final bugs out of the program. Now that she had gotten most of the bugs out she wanted to do another trial run. She moved the files she had gone through to separate file folders. She set the program to run and then stood up from her seat."Do you want anything?" She asked Dex."Can you start another pot of coffee?" He asked frowning into his coffee cup."Yeah. I need to run upstairs and make a phone call. It will be ready soon." She said, getting the coffee ready to brew."Okay." Dex said, turning back towards his screen. "I'll see you in a bit.""Okay." Bridgette said, pressing the brew button.Bridgette stretched her back and climbed up the ladder. She emerged from the bunker and squinted against the br
Ginny wrung her hands together as she stood outside of Bernard’s office. She had done as she was told and went to meet with Ricky. She had swung by his office but he was there. She had even gone to his house but no one was there and the house was empty.Ginny was terrified of standing before him and telling him that she had failed. She knew him well enough to know that her failure would not be well received and could mean her death. With a trembling hand she reached up and knocked on the door.“Come in.” Came his gruff response.Ginny took a deep breath and sighed. Her shaking hand gripped the door knob. She turned the knob and poked her head inside. Her knees knocked together as he sat behind his desk and gave her a stoney look.
“You did great today, Marco.” Bridgette said, smiling down at the young boy.“Really?” Marco asked with a wide grin spreading across his face.Marco’s face was red showing the effort he had put into his training. His red curls were plastered to the top of his head. He looked exhausted to Bridgette which made her feel a little bad for pushing him so hard.“Yeah,” she said, ruffling his sweaty hair. “I’m really proud of you.”“Thank you.” He whispered as his cheeks seemed to grow even redder.“I mean it! You’ve gotten faster and stronger. You’ve done very well.” She said, wrapping up her hands.
Bridgette’s stomach churned again when she thought about what the undesirables were supposed to be. The whole situation was disgusting! She couldn’t help but wonder if Bernard had the same intentions for her.“What happened?” Kane asked, frowning as he came to stand next to her.“Come with me.” She whispered, turning to go inside.Kane quietly followed her back inside. Neither of them spoke a word as they descended into the bunker and sat in front of the lit up screens. Bridgette handed him some headphones and started the audio over. She didn’t know if she could bear to listen to it again.Bridgette stood in the back of the room, her arms crossed over her chest. She couldn’t think of an
“Do I know you?” He asked, frowning.“Let’s go inside and talk. I’ll explain everything then.” She said, turning to lead them inside.“You guys did well keeping my secret.” She said, pouring herself a cup of coffee.“What the hell is going on?” Machine demanded looking at the three of them.“I can see why you would have a hard time grasping what is going on since we haven’t seen each other in over eight years.” She said, taking a sip of her coffee. “After all, I look a lot different now.”“Machine, this is… it’s Margo.” Dex whispered, looking at the ground.
“Margo!” Kane protested.“Stop calling me by that name! Margo died eight years ago!” She yelled.“So you’re saying you’re not Margo?” Machine asked, frowning as he looked between them.“Using that name will just get people killed! Why do you two insist on it?” She demanded, sheathing her knife.“Because that is who you are!” Kane shouted.“Kane, leave it for now.” Dex sighed.“She’s safe here so why shouldn’t I?” He asked.“Did you forget how easy it was for us to bug Bernard’s comp
“Have you seen a seven year old little girl stand bravely in the face of evil? I have. Her eyes stayed on me even as they went down the line slitting their throats one by one, starting with my father. Down the line they went. Her head was held high even as they held a large serrated hunting knife to her throat. She didn’t shiver in fear even as they slowly dragged that damn knife back and forth across her neck like a goddamn saw. Do you know what I did? I could only sit there, crying as I tried to shield Anna from their brutality.” She said, whispering that last part.“Even then I failed.... I had been quiet the whole time, not saying a single word, clutching on to Anna for dear life. Do you think that they stopped there and just let us go?” She asked, eyeing them with fury."No! They didn’t because as soon as the
“It’s all been taken care of.” Horatio said on the other end of the phone.“Good. You’ve done exceptionally well. Are you interested in doing that other job I mentioned?” Bernard asked.“Would this have to do with the ad that you placed?” He asked.“Yes. It seems that even the best haven’t been able to locate my missing songbird.” Bernard hummed.Horatio chuckled. He knew who he was referring to. They were indeed very good, but it would seem that their prey was even better. She had to be if Fabian had failed.“It would seem that your songbird is incredibly resourceful if she was about to elude Fabian. That alone is proof that
Thank you for reading. I know a lot happened and there will be more to come. I promise that plot points and questions will be answered over time. Just hang in there with me as I am working on the next book in the series. The next book will be up soon with more romance, mystery, and intriegue. Bernard will be back with his villianous ways and Margo will be making some appearances here and there as the story follows new characters but helps you understand Bernard and the motives behind what is taking place. This book will be more villian centered than the first one. So look for book 2 of The Devil's Knight's MC Series: The Devil's Prey.
After a few more rounds they fell asleep wrapped up in each other’s arms. Kane rolled over in his sleep reaching for Bridgette but frowned when he found her side cold and empty. He sat up and rubbed the sleep from his eyes. He looked around the room and sighed at the quiet. Kane climbed out of the bed and slipped on his underwear. He padded down the stairs in search of Bridgette.Kane went to the kitchen and noticed that the coffee maker was off. He frowned and went to the office thinking that she could be there or in the bunker. When he saw that the desk was in place he began to worry. On top of the desk was a note written in Bridgette’s messy handwriting. Tears stained some of the paper causing the ink to run and smudge a little.Kane,
“I have for a long time.” Kane whispered, crossing over to her.Bridgette stood there in shock staring up at him. A deep blush spread across her face as she swallowed the nervous lump in her throat. She blinked a few times before realizing that he stood directly in front of her. She sighed as his hands threaded into her hair, holding her still as he pressed his lips to her’s.Bridgette moaned into the kiss as she wound her arms around his neck. She stood on the tips of her toes and pressed into him as he nipped and sucked her bottom lip. Her heart pounded into her chest as she lost her senses to him. He was constantly invading her mind and even though there were more important matters to deal with her mind thought only of him.In her foggy haze she barely registered him picking he
Kane returned two hours later with an annoyed Mary in tow. Her jaw was hanging open as she took in the large house on the familiar property. She turned wide accusing eyes on him a moment later as her mouth began to turn down into a frown.“Are you fucking kidding me?” She growled angrily. “This is where you’ve been?”“Just shut it and come inside. We have a lot to do and not much time to do it.” He said, climbing out of his truck.“Don’t order me around, you ass!” She huffed as she followed him to the front door.To her surprise he entered the house without knocking. She scurried in behind him with wide eyes. She couldn’t believe how massive the house was or how warm and

“Hey,” Dex said, coming to stand next to him.“Hey. Did you guys get everything sorted out?” Kane asked.“She’s dragging her feet and I can’t say that I blame her. She doesn’t trust anyone except Bridgette.” Dex sighed, running a hand through his hair. “I don’t know what to do…. We can’t expect Jess and Machine to take her in. They have the kids so their hands are full.”“I might have an idea….” Bridgette whispered, stepping outside to join them.“What are you thinking?” Dex asked, raising a brow.“Can you call your sister?” She asked, turning her eyes towards Kane.
“Jess, I need you and Machine to take the kids and keep them safe.” Bridgette sighed.“I thought that they were safe here.” Machine frowned.“They were.” Kane said, still mad that she had put herself in danger again.“What happened?” Jess asked.“That bastard managed to get to an informant and his family. Long story short, their dead and they were under federal guard.” Bridgette sighed.“But what does that have to do with the kids?” Machine asked.“It means that if he can get to them while they’re under federal protection then he can get to me and it won't
“Bridgette, you need to stop and think about this!” Kane yelled, following her through the house.“There’s nothing to think about.” She said with a stoney face as she made her way down to the bunker.“Why won’t you stop and listen to me?” He argued.“Because you’re just going to try and talk me out of this and there’s nothing you can say to change my mind.” She said, starting up the computers.“Goddammit! I don’t want to lose you! I can’t go through that again!” He yelled.“You’re not going to lose me, but you are going to have to trust me!” She said, turning to face him teary eyes. &
Bridgette sighed and leaned against the railing as she thought about how crowded her place had suddenly become. The cold air blew across her skin reminding her that she hadn’t worn a jacket or shoes. She closed her eyes, savoring the quiet as the wind whipped her hair around. She didn’t mind the chill or the numbness in her appendages. Her mind was elsewhere as she stared out at the early morning sky.“Bridgette….” Kane sighed, opening the door with a fresh cup of steaming coffee in his hands. “What are you doing out here in the cold?”Bridgette didn’t turn to look at him as he watched her worriedly. She took a deep breath of air and sighed, watching the warm air float out on the early morning breeze. She tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear and nibbled on her bottom lip.
