Once again, I could not find her, even if I did follow her scent here. Her scent was the strongest near the edge of the neighborhood closest to the pond where many of us fished at. However, I could never find her exact location. I knew she had to live somewhere around there, but she was hiding from me. Why I was not sure, but I knew there was a reason. Her scent was a mix of cedarwood, amber, lilies and an ocean breeze. It confused and excited my wolf, Locke, and I. It was a strange but alluring mix of light and dark. Locke had finally been able to track the scent to a house. We had sniffed around the front of the house, but we had to be extremely careful. We had noticed that every fucking plant there was poisonous to us and every other supernatural species. The other strange thing about her scent was that we could not distinguish the species of supernatural she was. I had even spoken with my father and described what her scent smelled like to me to him, but he was stumped as I was.
“Why are we here again?” Peadar asked.
“Because we need shit for my mother's upcoming birthday. Dad thought it would look less suspicious if we came instead of him. Now come on. Let’s get the shit we need and get home.” I replied.
My mother’s birthday was coming up. Father was throwing her a party which I am sure she already knew about, and I do not think she wanted. She, however, would not say anything about knowing. She was aware how important this party was to him, so she played along. We had just stepped out of a store when her scent hit me. Locke came forward enough to look through my eyes as I began looking around for the source of that intoxicating scent. I was coming from a small cafe across the street. As fast as I was able, I crossed the street. I tracked the scent to a table outside the cafe. However, by the time I got there she was gone. I let out a growl of frustration that had the guys looking at me. I walked away following the scent to a nearby parking lot.
“Fuck!” I growled.
“Was it her again?” Niven asked.
“Yes, I swear she is playing with me. She must have just left because her scent is still strong.” I said.
“What does her scent smell like? I would also like to know how she snuck by use. I did not see anyone hurrying away from here as we walked here.” Uilleam asked.
I was not able to explain what her special scent that I can only smell was like. I did however try to explain what her scent, which I was guessing was related to her species, smelt like. I saw a look of recognition filter across Niven's face as I described the scent.
“Hold the fuck on! Does it smell like the fresh air and spicy dark rum?” Niven asked.
“No, but there are traces of both light and dark in it. It is confusing the shit out of Locke and me. I have never smelt anything like it before.” I admit.
“Fuck, I think I know who she might be.” Niven replied.
He stuck his hand in his pocket pulling out his phone. He told me about the new head chef at one of our restaurants. I vaguely remember him telling me about hiring her. I do remember seeing her resume and I was fucking impressed. I, however, did not pay attention to the name on the resume. The restaurants are his thing, so I let him run them. He unlocks his phone and starts scrolling through his pictures. He turns his phone around and there on the screen is the most stunning woman I have ever seen. Her long wavy black hair with purple strands within and light mocha complexion make her uniquely mesmerizing deep purple eyes pop. Looking closer I can see flecks of lavender floating within the deep purple. She appears to be tall, but it is hard to tell in the picture.
“I have never seen her there when I have stopped by.” I said.
“Her name is Aerian, and she only works the weekend at the restaurant. I know she has her own business, but I am not sure what it is. I do know that she has a small store that she runs her business out of but again I have no idea where in the city it is. I can tell you that she does have some sort of magic. Gideon was in the other day, and he could sense a type of magic from her, but not like what a witch/warlock or fey would have. He was not able to figure out what species she is. The few of the pack members that have been around her have never smelt a supernatural species like her before.” Niven explained.
Shit, that means I would not have a chance to run into her until this weekend. Fuck, I am not sure I can wait that long. Well at least now I know where she works, and I am sure I know where she lives. Aerian, such a unique and beautiful name. Now I need her to stop hiding from me. Mother and father sat there listening to everything we told them about Aerian. They were thrilled that I had found my mate, but they were as confused as I was as to why she was hiding from me. I do not think it was specifically me she was hiding from, but I could be wrong.
“I will ask a few of the other alphas about that scent. I have never smelt any supernatural with that scent.” father admitted.
“If I had to take a guess, I would have to say she could be an angel or demon. I guess it could be an elf. I have a cousin I could call and see if he can come. I know he works with fey and demons. I am not sure about angels.” mother added.
“Yes, please call him.” I told her.
“Son, will it make that much difference what she is? I mean unless you are thinking of rejecting because she not a wolf.” dad asked.
“Rejection is completely off the table. She is mine. I am more curious than anything. Locke and I want her and only her.” I growled.
Father nodded at me as I stood up. I was pissed that he even thought that I would reject her because she was not a wolf. They had raised me to believe in the mate bond and our family had never been one of those purists' families.
[How dare he even think shit like that. Locke]
[I know, but I do see his point. The way I made it sound did make even me question myself after I said it. Me]
[Fine, but rejection is not an option. Locke]
[I know. She is ours. Now we must figure out how to find her. Me]
[We will go to the restaurant this weekend. Locke]
[That we will. Me]
I headed to my office to discuss the recent disappearances of people within our state. They were not just taking women; they were kidnapping everyone.
This has been the longest fucking week of my life. I had been itching to walk into the restaurant and find her, but I had waited until the weekend. Niven was supposed to call me when Aerian showed up for work, but he had not called me yet. We had a few leads on the missing people, but we had not been able to find them. I was starting to get pissed when my phone rang. It was not Niven. Peadar walked into my office at that moment. Uilleam was on the other end of the line, but the call had dropped.
“What the fuck is going on?” I asked.
“We found where they are keeping the missing people. Uilleam and a few others went ahead to do some recon since the area is very remote. I was coming to get you. I am guessing that the call that dropped was him.” Peadar said.
“It was. Let's go and find these missing ones. Do we know if they are human or supernatural?” I asked.
“It is mostly humans. I think they took the supernatural's by accident. Most of the missing have been humans.” he replied.
As we walked out the front door Niven jumped out of his car. He looked frantic and it looked like all the color had drained from his face. I could tell he was pissed and concerned about something. This was not like him. I knew right away that something was very wrong, and I had a bad feeling that it had to do with Aerian.
“Aerian never showed up for work. I tried calling her several times, but it goes straight to voicemail each time. I asked a few people at work if they had seen or talked with her. The last time anyone saw her was Thursday. No one has seen her or talked to her since. Sofyia is also missing and has been missing for two days. Dad went to check on her and her roommate at college had not seen her.” Niven told me.
“Shit you think they took Sofyia and your mate?” Peadar asked.
“If they have touched her then they are dead. They had better hope that she is not hurt.” I growled.
We climbed into my car. As I linked father to let him know what was going on. He told us he would send someone to the restaurant to see if that is where she disappeared from. I told him about the house I suspected was hers and said he would check there as well. My guess is she was at this store she ran and disappeared from there. As we headed for the remote house that Peadar had told us about Niven’s phone went off. Our IT guys had sent him the security footage for the last four days from the restaurant. I let out a growl as it showed Aerian stopping by there for who knows what reason and then as she went to leave someone grabbing her and covering her face with something. These assholes have no idea who they just pissed off. They touched what is mine and they will find out the hard way that when you touch what is mine that it means death. Peadar was not fucking around when he said that this place was remote.
“Do we know how many they are holding?” I asked.
“No, there are only about a dozen guys guarding the place. This should be an easy and fast in and out.” Uilleam told me.
I told him what we suspected, and I saw anger cross his face. We shifted and then began to make our way closer to the house. If I find one bruise or worse on Aerian I will burn this damn place to the ground.
Fuck, my head hurt! I opened my eyes to find that I was in a dark room. I could hear other people, but I could not make out who or where they were. I sat up trying to get my barring's. My head did not agree with my quick movement nor did my stomach. “Fuck.!” I growled. When I tried to stand up. Yeah, that was a fucking mistake as I banged my head on an extremely firm surface. I sat back down as I rubbed my head. It was already screaming at me and hitting it did not help matters. I looked around again and that is when I saw that I was in some sort of cage. What the fuck is going on? The room we were in was not completely dark, but unless you had vision like us supernatural's have you would not be able to see. There was one small light bulb hanging from the ceiling in the far corner of the room. I could see several other cages all of which held women. I could also tell that all the women here, except me, were human. I am not sure how I got mixed up in this trafficking shit, but here I
I lost my fucking shit when I saw her locked in that tiny ass cage. I was already pissed knowing they had the women locked in cages like fucking animals but seeing her made me and Locke snap. I ripped the lock off her damn cage. I was too big to squeeze through the doorway to get her. One of the warriors was able to contort his body enough to reach her. I let out a growl when he put his hands on, but I took a breath and reminded myself that he was helping to get her out of that damn cage. Her cage was close to the wall, Sofyia’s was behind hers against the wall. My dark princess had curled herself up in the corner furthest from us. Thankfully, Freddie was able to squeeze into the cage. Once he had pulled her close, I bent down sliding my arms under her pulling her against my chest. She was unconscious and freezing. I saw Niven grab Sofyia carrying her out. The others had already helped the other women get out and they were being checked out and transported to the nearest hospital. Sofy
“God my head hurts.” I groan. “Do not move to fast honey.” a woman says. I opened my eyes to see an incredibly beautiful woman sitting beside the bed that I am in. She looked vaguely familiar, but right now my brain was not working well enough for me to remember why she looked familiar. I look around as I push myself up to sit against the headboard. The room that I am in is nice. The bed is comfortable. It is clear she is a wolf, but I am not sure where I am. She hands me a glass of water and what must be some aspirin. I gladly take it. Anything to get rid of this raging headache. The water feels wonderful as it slides down my throat which was extremely dry. I pushed myself up so I could lean against the headboard as she refilled the glass of water. “Where am I?” I asked. “My son brought you back to the Blue Lunar Eclipse pack. Him and the others rescued Sofyia and you from that horrible place.” the woman explained. I had a feeling that was where I was. Damn it, that means that m
We were all sitting in my office. We had gotten back a half hour ago. Mother made all of us go shower since according to her we were dirty and smelly. I was afraid that Aerian would be out for a while, but she woke up quick. Mother also made her eat as soon as she woke up, which seemed to help. That made Aerian giggle as mother dragged her to my office. I sat down in my chair as everyone else got comfortable. My dark princess was sitting by my mother. She was clearly on edge and twisting her hands in her lap. I could feel her anxiety as she sat there. I could not figure out why she would be so nervous. I knew she was not afraid of us, so this did not make sense. “My dark princess please calm down. We would like you to explain what happened out there and how you know Delphynia. You mentioned her when you were unconscious after we brought you back here. I would also like to know how you ended up there.” I said. “I stopped by the restaurant to see how things were going. I was thinking o
I have been here at the pack for two days. I was skeptical about this idea at first, but so far everyone has been genuinely nice to me. There are a few women here that are not thrilled with me being here. I think that has more to do with the fact they want Ruari and want to be his Luna and they see me around him all the time. I am sure they see me as competition which is ridiculous. There is no competition even if I am still having a challenging time with this whole mate and Luna thing. I do not believe that I am going to be a good mate for their alpha or Luna for this pack. I let the back door close as I stepped outside. I needed some sunlight, even if it was cold as fuck outside. I needed some alone time. I have been surrounded by people these last two days. I will admit that I am not the most sociable person, but all these people have made me feel very boxed in. I am used to being by myself since that is how it has been since I was 16. I headed for the forest. I have always loved na
I sat beside my dark princess as she talked with my mother. I admit when I got home it was eerily quiet. When I did find a couple of omegas I asked if they had seen Aerian. When they said they had not I was not too worried, but after asking a few more people I began to worry. As I asked a few more people and they all said they had not seen her since breakfast I began to freak out. Peadar and I began looking around the pack house but the only person I could find was mother. Sofyia was not even around which is not unusual. I figured maybe they were together. I had gone to my room to shower and change. I had just stepped into the room when Sofyia and her mother came walking through the door without my dark princess. I officially lost my shit when I asked Sofyia if she has seen Aerian. When she told me she had not seen her since they left that morning that was when Locke went crazy in my head. I sent out a pack link asking about her. I am not sure why dad did not respond by telling me they
No one bothered to turn and look at me as I slammed the door. I was beyond pissed. Six fucking years, that is how long I have been looking for Aerian, that little whore. At first, I was impressed that a sixteen-year-old could evade me as well as she did. Now I was just pissed off that she had evaded me this fucking long. I still do not know how she has kept under my radar for these many years. She had not been seen in either angel kingdom since we killed that fucking witch she was living with. I stomped my way through the house. No one dared say anything to me. I was headed for my office. I had linked Syrreon and Tillamuk to meet me there. I shoved my door open to find Syrreon and Tillamuk already sitting there waiting for me. I slammed the door shut as I strode to my chair. I dropped down into it letting out a growl. I let my head fall onto my desk banging it against it a few times before I sat up. I was beyond frustrated. I had no idea where to look for her. None of my men had seen h
This last week has been interesting. It took a couple of days, but I feel back to normal. Ruari has been the best. I was hesitant about staying here in the pack at first, but everyone welcomed me with open arms. Sofyia has become a good friend, and she has introduced me to a few of the others that she hangs around with. A couple of the girls spit out snide remarks or they ignore me, but I know it is because they are jealous. I have more or less moved into Ruari’s room. I still have a few items in the room across the hall from him, but I am sure they will end up in his room soon. “Fuck, that was brutal.” Tarryn huffed. “Yes, it was. Damn, I cannot imagine another three plus months of this.” I groan. “Hell, it is more like four or five months of this before the season starts slowing down. Thank God I am not back until Thursday.” Laveena said. She let out a groan as she sat down. I felt bad for her. She had slipped her shoes off and was rubbing her feet. She and Tarryn had to be on th
