Madison’s POV. Cole had locked himself in the bathroom since we got back home. On our way home, he kept his face at the taxi’s window. I fell back to bed and thought of all that had happened at dinner. I expected Irene’s reaction and I didn’t expect her to be insensitive to the fact that Cole had never hurt her in any way. I took my car at 11am and drove to the company. I got to the company at 11:26am. It was such a good time for me to arrive. I decided to see some of my colleagues before my meeting with Irene. I had missed working and seeing their faces. I got to my office and the sweet smell of books and dust satisfied my heart. It felt good to be back to work. I sorted out some files before 12pm. As I walked through the hallway to Irene’s office, my stomach tightened and my throat went dry as I knocked. I already prepared myself for the worst. “Come in” her voice echoed behind the door. I opened the door and stood in front of her without a word. I looked above her head and kept my eyes keen at the portrait of Mr Dave on the wall. “Please sit, “ her cracked voice said. I sat down obediently like a robot and still didn’t say a word to her. I could feel the tension between us as my heart almost jumped out from my chest. “Maddie, how are you?” She managed to say. “Fine!” I replied sharply.

Cole could barely take his eyes off me the whole time. He was chopping and staring at me like a hungry lion. Cole turned down the volume of the television and I saw pure frustration in his eyes. He paused, looked at me and was at a loss for words. I sat down quietly because she has indirectly started a war. I felt stupid for thinking she was advocating for Cole, she is more intrested in ruining everything. Damien looked at with a soft smile and walked to the closet. He brought out a gift bag and handed it over to me. “What’s this?” I asked, curiously. He said nothing and waited for me to open it. I brought out a box that was wrapped beautifully. I looked at my husband with a smile and continued unboxing the rectangular box in front of me. I sweated nervously as I finally opened the box. I looked at the box and saw two keys. For a few seconds, my brain went blank. I couldn’t figure out why and what the two keys meant. I hissed slightly almost grumpy as I walked to bed. I picked up my phone and met so many notifications. Most were from my recent posts and others were from last night. I eagerly opened the notification and it completely made sense. I totally understood what my husband met. The first comment on my post was, “Show off!! It’s all fake”.
