Chapter 2 - A Friend In Need

A week later

Lyron's POV

“ What??? You mean, he found out that you're an Omega on the first day?” Ryan exclaimed after I narrated everything that's happened to me in the past one week now.

“ Unfortunately, yes,” I sighed and banged my head against the steering wheel.

“ Did you get fired?”

“ No, my job's safe for the time being at least. He says he wants to keep me around because I'm somewhat interesting. I don't know if I should be worried or happy that he at least didn't fire me,” I expressed how anxious I felt about this.

“ It's a good thing you still have the job but I sure as hell know I wouldn't be relaxed if this happened to me,” Ryan sighed over the phone.

“ Don't make this worse,” I pleaded with him. I could cry any moment thinking of what dastardly ways he wants to use to frustrate me. I heard a knock on window of the SUV I was in.

“ Eisshh! You scared me,” I was genuinely startled seeing Amil by the window. I unlocked the doors and the back door slid open. I quickly hung up on Ryan as he got in.

“ For someone who gets paid as my agent, you seem to work better as my driver,” he looked at me through the rearview mirror waiting for my reaction.

“ I didn't think you'd want me entering into your house, Sir,” I was tempted to roll my eyes. I knew he'd throw a fit or pick on me if I entered his house so I chose to wait in the car and now he complains. “ We're headed to the photoshoot set first,” I informed him of his schedule before starting the engine. He didn't reply, not that I was expecting him to.

Getting to the set, it was as busy as it could get. The workers ran around trying to arrange everything for Amil’s photoshoot. I waited in his dressing room with him as they applied his makeup.

“ Hey, newbie,” Amil snapped his fingers. Was he referring to me?

“ Are you talking to me by any chance, sir?” I forced a smile because I knew how badly I wanted to ignore him.

“ Do I have any other agent aside from you?” He glared at me.

“ No, sir,”

“ I want an iced Americano, hurry up and get me one,” he handed over his card to me. It was black and gold. Holding something I only got to see in the movies felt like a crime.

“ Yes, sir,” I left the dressing room and rushed out to get it. I went to the nearest cafe and bought one like he had asked and brought it to him.

“ It tastes terrible. Get me another one,” he said the moment he sipped from it.

“ But…”

“ Your job isn't to question me but to work for me so don't make me repeat myself,” he interrupted me coldly. I bowed my head and went to get another one. I bumped into someone on my way out.

“ I'm sorry,” I apologized and continued moving. I didn't have time to exchange words right now.

In about four minutes, I brought him another cup of iced Americano. Hopefully he'd like it.

“ What the hell do you keep bringing me?” He looked up from his phone and glanced over at me.

“ You said you wanted an iced Americano and that's what I got you,” I answered not knowing what else to say.

“ Oh, did I say that? I meant to say caffe Americano con leche instead,” he said. “ Now run along and get that,” he dismissed me but I had completely no idea what he just said. The makeup artists realized that I was confused but not wanting to get in between something so tense, they chose to remain quiet.

I knew I couldn't bring myself to ask him what that was given his temper so I got another cup of iced Americano with a little more ice in it. I hope that's what he meant though.

“ What the bloody hell! Is this some kinda joke or something?” He yelled.

“ Wasn't that what you asked me to get?” I mumbled not wanting to get on his nerves more.

“ Everyone get out except for him,” he ordered and the makeup crew scrammed. I was definitely toast.

“ I really didn't know I got you the wrong order,” I apologized not wanting this to escalate further.

“ Who the fuck asks for more ice in an iced coffee???” He poured the drink on the floor. “ Are you kidding me?” I don't my apology was working. He let off his pheromones knowing fully well the effects it had on me. I tugged at my shirt as my knees became weak, just then the door swung open.

“ That's enough, Amil,” a female voice came from the door. “ Even if you're pissed keep your pheromones in check,” she warned.

“ I nearly forgot we were actually doing this shoot together,” Amil responded. He suppressed his pheromones.

“ That's so like you. I'm not surprised at all,” she walked into the room and reached out to me. I took her hand and she pulled me up. “ Aren't you passed the stage of bullying your workers?” She confronted.

“ And aren't you passed the stage of meddling in people's businesses?” He retorted. They shot lightning beams at each other. They were obviously well acquainted.

“ You could have explained what you meant but you chose to use a different name for it,” she pointed out. “ Caffe Americano con leche is just iced Americano with milk in it,” she turned to me and smiled. That was really it?

“ How is it my fault that he doesn't know something so basic?” Amil snapped.

“ What's your name?” She totally ignored Amil. Was is alright to do so because he seemed angrier now.

“ I-I'm Lyron,” I stuttered. She was really pretty so I didn't know when I got lost in her looks, her face seemed familiar as well. She had natural tan skin with red hair and golden eyes.

“ You seemed stunned, haha,” she laughed. “ I'm Zara, nice to meet you,” she introduced herself. She was a rising star in the entertainment industry and as much as she was a really good singer with a stable and growing fan base, she was better known for her acting and modelling gigs.

“ Why are you introducing yourself to him?” I had nearly forgotten about Amil. “ Shouldn't you get going?” He glared at her.

“ Didn't you tell Lyron to get you a caffe Americano con leche? We'll go and get it together, isn't that right?” She rested her arm on my shoulder with a broad smile. With Amil’s looks alone, it was obvious how he didn't want her here but she didn't seem like she cared.

“ Erm… it's alright, I think I can…”

“ Let's go!” She pulled me excitedly out of his dressing room and we wound up in the cafe. She made the order.

“ You're seriously gorgeous, Lyron. When you bumped into me on your way out, I thought you were a girl. I only realized that you weren't when I walked into Amil's dressing room,” she complimented. “ I thought I was pretty till I met you, are your eyes really turquoise?” She gasped taking a closer look.

“ I appreciate the compliment and yes, they really are turquoise,” I looked away. She was too close.

“ Everything about you is so unique. I honestly thought you were a female dominant Omega like myself. Your hair wasn't exactly helping,” she pointed at my long hair which I had used a rubber band to hold down.

“ Maybe I should cut it,” I considered.

“ What? No! Why would you?” She was way too proactive for someone I just met. “ I think it suits you so just leave it as it is,” she dismissed my thoughts.

“ Thank you for today but you didn't have to go that far for a someone you don't even know,” I appreciated her as we walked back to the set.

“ No, it was necessary. You're definitely new and maybe you don't know but once Amil doesn't like someone, he doesn't like someone,” she answered seriously without smiling. “ You're a recessive Omega right?” She went straight to the point.

“ What gave you that idea?” I laughed awkwardly.

“ I have inhumane intuition so you can't lie to me,” she stopped and looked at me. “ Amil wouldn't shower his pheromones like that if you were a Beta because he knows it would have no effect on you so that means Amil is aware that you're an Omega. You lied to him right?” She asked. She was really on point.

“ Y-yes,” I mumbled. There wasn't any point lying.

“ Initially I thought you were a dominant Omega when you bumped into me but I couldn't pick up any pheromone from you so I ruled out that you were just an unusually pretty Beta but seeing how Amil reacted and how you reacted to his pheromones, I knew you had to be an Omega - a recessive Omega,” her analysis was on point. “ Don't worry, I'm good at keeping secrets,” she smiled as she assured me.

“ Why are you being nice to me?” It was rare to see people who genuinely cared about you especially when it came to the rich and wealthy.

“ Isn't it obvious? I want to be friends with you,” she beamed. “ Let's be friends, Lyron,” she proposed and I stood there in disbelief.
