Chapter 4

Author's POV 

Duke was laying on a couch in his penthouse. He was looking at the ceiling aimlessly. He was feeling tired. So tired like he was bearing a heavy burden on his shoulder and his heart. 

He was recalling the all sweet memories which he shared with his family. With his parents. When he heard someone knocking at the door. Duke looked at the door then looked at the ceiling again. He knew it was Ace. It wasn't like Duke didn't want to let him in. Ace had a spare key of his penthouse. Duke wanted for him to enter using the key. 

And as expected, Duke heard the door opening sound. 

Ace closed the door and looked at his friend who was laying on a couch. Ace removed his suit and put it on a couch. 

He went inside the kitchen and took out a bottle of water. He went back to the living room and sat down. 

"Explain," Ace said after drinking water. 

Duke sat down. 

"There is nothing to explain"  

"Don't give me this tone, Duke unless you want me to dig into this matter by myself. I promise you will not like it when I put my nose in it" Ace said more like threatened him. 

"Grandfather wants an heir" Duke said 

"That's why you sent your sample to the hospital." Ace said 

"I didn't expect them try to mess with it. Luckily Max destroyed it before it fall in their hands" Duke said.  

"Duke don't take this risk. Why don't you have a girlfriend?" Ace asked Duke who smiled hearing this

"The person who said girlfriend and marriage is waste of time" Duke smirked at Ace. "Don't worry about me."

Ace was about to say something when Duke's phone started ringing. 

Duke saw it was her grandfather. Duke picked up the call..

"Yes, grandpa" 

"Tomorrow you will attend a event on my behalf. My friend will come there with his granddaughter. You have done few business with them. They known as Lockwood. I think she is a good girl. The rest is up to you" Mr. Rodgers said and disconnected the call before Duke refused. 

Duke sighed and put down the phone. 

The next day

Anna opened her eyes when she heard a thud sound. 

She looked around and found Jenny was sleeping on the ground soundlessly. Her both legs and hands were in different positions like she was fighting in her sleep. 

"How can someone keep sleeping after falling from bed? And is she sleeping or taking the position for the third world war??"

Anna looked at the clock and saw it was only 4 in the morning. She sighed then laid down again. 

But sleep was far away from her. Anna looked at the ceiling while some negative thoughts started coming to her mind. She tried to avoid the negative thoughts but they didn't stop which made her worried. Anna sensed something was going to happen. Something bad was going to happen to her. 

Anna become worried. She got up and looked at the bedside table. She wanted to drink water but the water jug was empty. Ana picked up the empty jug and then left from there.

Anna entered the kitchen and then filled up the jug. She poured a glass of water and then gulped it down. 

"Nothing will happen. I will attend the party like a guest. All I need to stay quiet and then get my mother's belongings" Anna muttered. 

"Nothing is going to happen Anna. And what is left to happen anyway?" Anna smiled sadly and picked up the jug. 

She entered her room and saw Jenny was still sleeping on the ground. Anna put the jug on the table. 

"I wish I can be like you Jenny, carefree and strong. You can say openly that you have no parents unlike me. I am an abandoned shit. A burden which they kicked out of their life without a second thought" Anna muttered and picked up her quilt. She put it on, Jenny. Jenny snuggled in it for warmth like a baby snuggled in its mother's arms. 

Anna smiled at her childish act. 

She picked up a book and then come to the balcony. She closed the door carefully then sat down on a chair then started reading the book.

After some time, the sun peaked under the clouds. The birds spread their wings and started singing like they welcoming the sun. 

The sun smiled happily. 

Anna closed her eyes when fresh cold morning air touched her face. 

She closed the book and entered the room. She got ready for jogging. She wanted to call Jenny but seeing her sleeping peacefully she did not disturb her. 

Anna took her phone and headphone and then left for jogging. 

After jogging when she returned home, Jenny was making breakfast. 

"Good morning, Anna" Jenny greeted her 

"Good morning" Anna greeted back

"Go, get fresh. Breakfast is ready" Jenny said 

Anna nodded then left from there. 

"Anna, today I have the night shift. So, don't wait for me tonight" Jenny said. After whatever happened, Jenny forced Anna to live with her. 

"I am going to attend the party tonight," Anna said and Jenny stopped eating. 

"Why?" Jenny frowned hearing it

"It is the only way to get mom's belongings" Anna said 

"Don't hope too much. Do you really think she will give them to you? She said this many times but at the end she denied. She will ruin your day. Don't go" Jenny said and put down the spoon. 

"I know, Jenny. But I have to go" Anna said 

"I am done," Jenny said and left from there angrily.  

Anna sighed and picked up the plates to wash them. 

At Evening 

Duke was standing with his PA Max when the Lockwood family entered. 

"They are here" Max muttered

Duke nodded without looking at them then signal at him Max nodded and went forward to greet them. Katrina Mr. Lockwwod's granddaughter was smiling at Duke but he didn't look at her for once which made her angry. 

Duke was silent all the time. 

"Excuse me, I need to attend an important call," Duke said and left from there...

Katrina looked at Duke. 

"Grandfather, I am going to talk to him" Katrina whispered to her Grandfather, who nodded at her 

Duke disconnected the call when he felt a presence behind him. 

"Hi," Katrina said 

Duke just nodded at her. 

"Duke, I heard you are looking for a suitable partner. I know you are not ready for this marriage and I am not also. Because we don't know each other well. Don't worry, I am also like you. Let's be friends for now. We will take the next step when you will ready. What's say?" Katrina asked which made Duke angry 

He frowned at her. 

He didn't expect this his grandfather told something like this. 

Katrina smiled and picked up two juice glasses from the tray then forward a glass to him. Duke tried to refuse but she insisted. 

Duke took the glass. 

"What if I say I have no plan of being your friend or whatever you say?" Duke asked coldly 

"Who knows about the future? Maybe you will change your mind later. Now let's forget about it. Drink. I didn't mix anything in it" Katrina smiled at him. 

Duke felt annoyed. He took one sip of the juice and then left from there. Katrina smiled evilly when her friend's words rang in her mind...

"Careful while using this drug Katrina. One drop of this drug can turn the most gentle man into an aggressive animal. It will raise the heat of the body and thirst for physical needs. The person will behave like a wild creature. The drug will start working after an hour. 

If someone comes in front of this drug victim he will ruin her completely like an animal. And most importantly he will forget everything he did because of this drug effect after he woke up from sleep."

"Tonight, I am going to have Rodgers family's heir. When one drop was enough I have given you the whole bottle" Katrina whispered then left from there

Outside of the hotel, Anna paid the taxi driver and then took out a card from her bag. She showed the card to the security team and then entered the hotel quickly. She was late because of jam. The engagement party is held at down floor. 

Anna entered the party hall and her face went pale seeing her family taking family photos. Anna went to her stepmom. 

"What do you want me to do now? I know you did not invite here to play the older sister's role" Anna asked looking at Katrina. 

Katrina looked down at Anna from head to toe. 

"Why you are wearing such as old fashion dress?" Katrina asked her

"Because I wanted to wear this" Anna said. 

"Follow me" Katrina ordered her then started walking towards the elevator

Anna started following her like a lost puppy

When they got in the elevator, Katrina pressed the rooftop. Soon the elevator started going. 

When the elevator reached the top floor Katrina come out and stopped middle of the roof. Anna stopped behind her. Katrina turned at her. 

"I will give everything related things to your mother if you sign this paper" Katrina said. 

"What is it?" Anna asked her

"Your dad wants to cut down your name from your family. Sign the paper and accept it" Katrina said 

Hearing this Anna's face was red too but in pain and shock. 

"Listen, I call you here because we want to break every relationship with you. You can not take your dad's name. For us you are dead and we will be too for you. If you are dribbling for love then go to your dead mom. Don't die here for it because no one here will not give a damm about it. We don't care if you live or die. And don't think those are my words only. Those are your dad's words too" Katrina said

Fresh tears rolled down on Anna's cheeks. 

"Now wipe your fake tears and go from here," Katrina said and left from there. 

Anna fell to her knees 

If you are dribbling for love then go to your dead mom. Don't die here for it because I will not give a damm about it. I don't care if you live or die..

Anna felt someone stabbed in her heart. Not it was not someone but her own father.  

Katrina entered into the elevator and called her man. 

"She is at the roof. Follow her. I want you to ruin her completely so that she will commit suicide and not be able to show her face to anyone. Behave like an animal to her. She is very kind-hearted. Act if you are in pain or in danger. She will definitely try to help you. Take this chance and take her away from here then do the work. You will get your payment as soon as you finished the work" Katrina said and disconnected the call. 

"You don't need anyone Anna. You are strong enough to live in this cruel world" Anna muttered then wiped her tears then left from there. 

Anna entered into the elevator and then pressed the ground floor. When the elevator opened she come out. 

She was passing through the guest rooms when she heard someone roaming in pain inside a room. Like someone is sick and needs help.  

Anna stopped at once and then looked at the door from where the sound was coming

"Is someone hurt?" Anna muttered to herself then she put her ear on the door to listen to the sound carefully when she saw the door was open and indeed a painful sound was coming from the room. 

Anna pushed the door and gets inside. She saw a man sitting on the ground. His back was facing her. The room was messy. 

"Ex-cause me, Are you hurt?" Anna asked the person but he still roaming in pain. Anna step closer and sat down beside him. But she did not notice someone locked the door from outside and put the do not disturb sign on the door. 

"Are you okay?" Anna asked and put her hand on his arm. The person didn't notice her presence till now because he opened his red eyes and grabbed her hand. 

Anna shouted in fear. 

The man looked at her like a hungry lion looking at his prey 

He pushed her to the ground and grabbed her both hands. 

"What are you doing? Leave me right now" Anna shouted in fear but the man smiled at evilly and tore his own shirt. 

Anna's eyes went widened in fear. 

"No. Leave me. Help. Someone help me, please. Please leave me" Anna cried out in fear but that beast didn't listen to her. No one can listen to her begging for help because the room was soundproof. 

He tore her dress and started biting her neck. Her soft delicate skin made him more hungry. 

"Please stop. Please don't do this?" Anna begged but the man slapped her in return and keep ruining her. 

Anna cried, and begged, for mercy but that beast keep destroying her. A wave of pain went through her lower part..

Katrina smiled outside of the door and then left from there. 

"Pl..please l..leave me" Anna kept begging to the beast...
