Chapter 2

Author's POV 

"And the student of the year goes to Anna William. I would like to request you to come to the stage and take the Hippocratic oath" The principal spoke up looking at the audience...

Jenny shouted in excitement and hugged Anna who was still in shock. 

"You did it. After all of your hard work, you have succeeded. I am so proud of you" 

Anna who was in shock came to reality after hearing Jenny's cheerful words. She looked at her with teary eyes. 

"I did it, Jenny" Anna whispered. Her heart was beating restlessly. 

"Yes. You have done it. Now time to claim the award you were dreaming of getting" Jenny said. 

Anna smiled and stood up. Everyone clapped. 

Getting on the stage, Anna took the award from the chief guest and looked at the audience and as usual felt sad. 

Her family didn't come like always. 

Anna took the oath book and looked at the audience, everyone clapped for her. 

Taking a deep breath, she started.

"I shall do by my patients as I would be done by; shall obtain consultation whenever I or they desire; shall include them to the extent they wish in all important decisions; and shall minimize suffering whenever a cure cannot be obtained, understanding that a dignified death is an important goal in everyone's life........."

"Congratulations again, baby. Now you can rest. I hate the times when you used to spend countless nights in hospital" Jenny said making a irritating face. 

Anna chuckled at expression. She thanked God for giving her a friend like her. 

"So, what is your next plan?" Jenny said sipping the coffee. 

"I want to surprise Liam" Anna said. 

"Anna, that piece of shit did not even bother to attend the ceremony. He did not care for you. He is nothing but a useless person." Jenny said with hateful face. 

"Jenny, Liam is not a bad person. I don't know why you both don't like each other but I really want you both to sort the issue out because you both are really important to me" Anna said. 

Jenny fisted her hand to control her anger. She just didn’t get why Anna couldn't see the true face of that bastard who was after her for money. Only for money. She was scared that Anna would get hurt some day. 

"Alright. Are you going to his company wearing your doctor coat?" Jenny asked her. 

"Of course not. I am going to my apartment first to get changed then I will visit his company" Anna said. 

"Then visit my shop when you are done. I need to go now" Jenny said. 

"Thanks for coming, Jenny. I knew you were busy but still you came for me" Anna said. She became emotional. 

Jenny held her hands and smiled. 

"Because you are also important to me" 

After saying bye, Anna hopped on a taxi and looked at the sky out of the window. 

'Mama. See I have fulfilled my dream. Now your daughter is a doctor. Now I will never let anyone die without treatment like you.'

Whispering this, Anna's eyes turned watery. She blinked her eyes a few times to control her tears but they betrayed her and rolled down on her chubby cheeks. 

Anna wiped her cheeks quickly because she promised her mom that she would never cry alone. 

"Mom, I will bring Liam to meet you today. He is a good person and my childhood friend. I know you will like him" Anna said and closed her eyes when the taxi stopped. 

"Child, we have reached" The driver said.

Anna got down and paid the driver and then entered the building. 

When she reached the lift area, she saw it was under maintenance. Anna went towards the stairs and saw Mrs. Robert, her neighbor having problems with a heavy bag. 

"Granny, given that to me" Anna said and took the bag from her.

Mrs. Robert smiled at her brightly. 

"How are you, my child? Last night, did you fall asleep quickly. I called you so many times but you didn't open the door?" Mrs. Robert asked her

"I wasn't in home last night Granny" Anna said. 

Hearing this, Mrs. Robert frowned. 

"I am sure I heard noise from your apartment" Mrs. Robert said. 

"Oh, maybe Liam stayed here last night" Anna said. 

"But I heard a girl's voice" Mrs. Robert whispered.

"Maybe I heard wrong. Oh, look at the award. I see my child reached her goal. Congratulations" Mrs. Robert patted her head warmly. 

Anna smiled and thanked her. 

"Visit my apartment some times dear" Mrs. Robert said when they reached her floor. 

Anna nodded and left from there. Taking out the keys she opened her apartment door and her eyes went on the shoe. Anna's eyes lit up like the brightest star. 

Is Liam here? Did he come to surprise me? I knew he will never forget this day.

Anna smiled in excitement and entered into the house. But in her excitement she failed to notice the familiar high heel besides the shoe. 

When Anna entered the living room, the color of her face got drowning when she heard the noise. 

Anna's body started trembling. 

"It is not true" Whispering this Anna peaked in the bedroom and that moment her whole world changed. The land under her feet started going away. 

Anna could not believe that her boyfriend Liam was with her stepsister Stella. 

Anna wanted to shout at Liam but she felt something stuck in her throat. She could not take breath.

Biting her lips to bleed Anna looked at them and saw Stella was smiling at her evilly while Liam was still unaware of her presence. 

"Baby, are you really going to marry Anna?" Stella asked Liam eyeing Anna. 

"Don't take that ugly girl's name in front of me. Because of your family, I am still with her otherwise who have appetite to look at the fat ugly girl. I feel ashamed whenever I go out with her. There is no way I am going to marry that fat ugly person" Liam said while kissing Stella's neck. 

"What if she finds out about us?" Stella asked again. 

"It will be good for her as well as for me. I feel sick whenever she brings out the marriage topic" Liam said and Stella smirked at Anna. 

Anna felt broken. She thought Liam did not get intimate with her because he respected her decision but it turned out he hated her. 

The award fall on the floor making a noise. Liam turned back and became shocked. 

"Oh, no. Anna. It is not what you are thinking. We really love each other. Liam did not want to cheat on you. Please do not get mad at her" Stella pleaded with fake tears. 

Liam wore his clothes and stood in front of Anna. 

"Why?" Anna asked looking at his eyes. Her voice was trembling. 

"I have no feelings for you. I was only with you because of my family. According to the family deal I have to marry into William family. And you are not the only daughter of this family. Stella is a William too. I want to marry her" Liam said without any guilt. 

"You said you loved me" Anna shouted at him. 

"It was a lie. It is not my fault. You are a fool to believe a guy like me could have feelings for someone ugly like you. You are so dreadful that I doubt even a male prostitute want to sleep with you" Liam said looking at her. 

Being able to control her anger, Anna slapped him hardly. 

"Liam" Stella shouted and held Liam. 

"Get out from here" Anna shouted. 

"You bitch. You will regret it" Liam howled at her. 

"Don't bark at my house. Dog should bark at street" Anna said. 

Liam was about to say something but Stella held him and dragged him away. 

When they left the apartment Anna broke down on her knees....
