Lucas taps his fingers on the table while humming, both of his eyes are busy with the book he’s been reading. It’s a sunny day at Hayes, his newly found spot to spend time doing his hobby.
Catch a tiger by the toe. If he hollers, DON’T let him go..
He looked up and saw the person he’ll be playing with for today. A tall lean man wearing a cap and a set of clothes that seemed like they have never been washed for a couple of days already, his eyes are shaking with fear as he gets out a small packet of drugs from his pocket and stick it under the table, the other guy in front of him immediately picked it from under, stood up, and left. Lucas watches them from across the room when a staff blocked his view. Lucas was surprised but when she stepped back, the man he’s been eyeing was already nowhere to be found.
Lucas sighed and went back to reading. He is pissed already, that man could have been punished already. He looked back to find the girl who spoiled his fun and saw her at the counter, half of her short chocolate hair is tied up emphasizing her small almond face. She seems irritated beside her co-worker.
She’ll be fun too, I guess, Lucas thought.
He stared at her until she glances on his way and without a beat, her blue bambi eyes landed on him. Lucas knew his charms were working the moment she reached out for her notepad and started walking her way towards him.
“Do you need anything?” she asked with a soft small voice.
I need you.
“Sir?” She leaned forward for a bit.
“I’m sorry, I was just thinking if you would love to join me here,” Lucas finally answered. Of course you would, Lucas thought while trying to mesmerize the girl in front of him. You interfered with my work now you have to pay for it.
Her co-worker suddenly popped up beside her and whispered something, the girl turned her back and started walking away.
What? What the hell happened?!
He was about to confront her but she stopped walking and fell on her co-worker’s back down to the floor. Her co-worker called her “Selene” and the customers started to gather around her.
Lucas just remained on his seat, watching the commotion in front of him.
Should I help her?
He saw Selene hold her head and groans from the pain. Her co-worker was trying to get her up.
I bet she’s going to regret ignoring me earlier. I want to see you beg, now.
Lucas stood up and walked straight to Selene who seems like she’s going to pass out anytime soon. Lucas held her on her shoulders and got her up on her feet.
“Sanare dolorem,” he chanted, and using his power he took her pain away. He scoffed when a man came rushing towards them, not minding everyone’s presence and carried her on his back going to the kitchen.
When he saw the man who carried her left the kitchen, he took his chance to sneak at where Selene is. When he saw her sitting on the chair, her eyes are closed and seemed really weak.
“How are you feeling?” Lucas asked while leaning against the door, expecting Selene to be kind to him. Selene looked up and when she saw him, she immediately looked away.
“I’m sorry Sir, this place is off limits,” she said firmly. Playing innocent, eh?
“I just saved you back there, you know,” he said, bending down on her. He knows she is affected by his presence because she is looking at the floor instead at him.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. Please leave,”
“A little gratitude would suffice.” Lucas cannot understand why this girl keeps on rejecting him, he is starting to get impatient.
“I didn’t asked for your help,” she replied with her eyes closed. Lucas was surprised by what she said. Maybe she does not believe that I helped her? Or is she just trying to play with me? He thought, confused. He does not help humans for nothing, it always comes with a price.
He stood straight. “Well then, if you need my help, you’ll find me here. You are so much welcome.” Lucas disappeared from the kitchen after placing the card on the table.
He got to Domus Malum and went straight to his office, slamming the door. He is furious because he was not able to catch the drug dealer and wasted his time trying to help a sick, insane woman for nothing.
He chugged a bottle of vodka while he unbuttons his top all the way down, exposing his god-like body.
A knock on the door was heard and Zera entered after, she was holding a phone and walked straight to Lucas’ table.
“We got a problem,” she announced, and gave the phone to Lucas.
Still not in his best mood, Lucas picked the phone and put it on his ear.
“Lucas,” he said introducing himself.
A static raucous voice of a man answered, “Finally, Lucas the devil.” The caller laughed. “How did you come up with such petty name? It sounds like an ancient voodoo.”
Lucas scoffed as he spoke, “Forgive me, but I don’t have time for mongrels like you.” He was about to hung up when the caller said a familiar name. He put the phone back on his ears, angry.
“I believe you have a client named Cleo,” he said with a serious tone. “That bastard just goes around sleeping with all the ladies he like, including my wife!”
Lucas sighed, massaging his temples. “And? I don’t see which any of that concerns me.”
“He said that you’re the only one who can bring him back to his old self. I can never forgive that scumbag for trying to steal my wife, I could kill him and you if I want!”
“Sure, call me back when you’re ready.” Lucas dropped the call and gave the phone back to Zera.
“Burn that phone or else, I will be sending an unexpected soul to my Father.”
Zera placed the phone on the table and sat on the chair in front of Lucas.
“We have to be careful from now on,” she stated, but Lucas just closed his eyes. “There will be consequences if we continue to act rashly, Lucas. You know that.”
“I know.” Lucas is trying to stop the urge to kill Cleo, his client who wished to have all the ladies drooling over him. But he knows he can’t just harm a human whenever he wants to nor send them to hell by surprise.
“We have to do something. You know you can’t let humans interfere with our work.”
Lucas stood up and without a word, he left Zera on his office. He is furious enough with his failed plan awhile ago and now even more furious on the problem with his stupid client.
He found the bar that Cleo manages, it’s been ages since he granted his wish and ever since that day, he never saw this client again. It actually surprised him that he’s still alive.
Cheap disco lights danced along the music of the bar when Lucas entered, several old and podgy men with balding head are seated on the couches surrounded by women just wearing flashy underwear. The smoke hurt Lucas’ eyes, and the smell of the place almost made him gag. His eyes roamed around the place, trying to find Cleo.
“Hello handsome,” a woman wearing black see-through lingerie with a devil headband on her head approached Lucas, handing him a glass of alcohol. Her red lips curled into a seductive smile while her lustful eyes wandered on Lucas’ body. Lucas accepted the alcohol that made the woman smirk. She began to caress his chest as Lucas stepped forward to get closer to her ears.
“Do you know where’s Cleo?” he whispered.
“Oh, so you want the three of us? I’m so in!” the woman giggled and grabbed Lucas’ hand. She dragged him out of the smelly dance floor and went to one of the doors behind the bar counter.
When they entered the room, the lights were off and Lucas heard several moans in different pitches. The lights flickered as the woman he was with turned them on, and there Lucas saw Cleo on the couch with three different women on his lap, savoring every bit of his sinful desire given by the devil.
When Cleo saw Lucas, he immediately pushed the women off of him and stood up.
“Woah! I did not expect for you to personally visit me, my majesty,” Cleo clapped as he approach Lucas and fixed his hair and clothes, he did not bother to button his shirt letting his hairy and flabby chest exposed. He offered his hand for a handshake but Lucas just stared at him, emotionless.
“Oh, right. You don’t wanna get the dirty STDs from this hand, of course.” He took his hand back and laughed.
Lucas just stood there with his hands inserted on his pockets watching the poor human spend his last good laugh.
Cleo stopped laughing when he felt a tingling sensation between his thighs.
“Oh…AHH!” The women gasped when Cleo fell to the ground, curled like a ball and both hands clutching his crotch.
“What the-! W-what’s happe..AWW! Oh my God!” Cleo’s face turned red as he feels the excruciating pain on his manhood. He was screaming so loud it scared the women in the room and ran outside. Lucas and the poor Cleo remained.
Lucas bent over him, smiling. “Already changing sides, eh? How’s that feels like?”
“D-dude! What’s your effin’ problem?! Stop please!” Cleo begged, the veins on his head are so visible like they will pop anytime now.
“A man called on me today, apparently he said that you mentioned my name on him. You broke our contract,” Lucas greeted his teeth in anger.
“I-I’m sorry man, I didn’t want that! I needed a reason!”
“Oh! And you used me?!” Lucas snarled and added more pain to Cleo. He screamed at the top of his lungs.
“I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry,” Cleo cried like a baby and begged for Lucas to stop. Lucas stood straight up. He looked down on Cleo who’s crying non-stop.
“Too bad, I am not that guy who accepts apology and help humans to find the light, maybe you could team up with Him so you could beat me, but then, He would not help someone who already has a ticket to hell, is He?” Lucas gave a devilish smile and turn around, leaving Cleo with a shrunken manhood, now unable to continue his race.
Have you ever felt like the clock ticking in every second feels like it is counting down on your last moments in life? The irritating sound coming from it feels like a drum roll on your way to death, mimicking your steps towards to an unknown end. Selene sipped her hot chocolate milk, the rain is pouring hard outside. The roads have been blocked by humongous trees that fell down due to the storm. Hayes decided to suspend work as most office works were canceled as well so there’s not much customers that would go out with this kind of weather. Selene hates the rain. Aside from being stuck in home doing nothing, Faye has been a little freaky about her condition. She wants her to just stay indoors, but when she told her she would not live long, she started to plan trips and set dates for vacations abroad. Fayewants Selene to achieve her dreams of traveling the world, but she also does not want her to get t
“Well? Care to explain what am I missing here or am I just going to take this as my signal to fly away?” Faye said, looking at Lucas and Selene, still staring at each other.“You actually found my place, why are you already leaving without meeting me?” Lucas can’t hide his smile. He thinks that his charms already worked on Selene.“Because I did not go here in my own will,” Selene looked at Faye, glaring. Faye just shrugged at her.“I did not think that your infamous business needs an appointment to get your service, it’s actually a shame because my friend over here needs to wish something big,” Faye put her arms around Selene, “and as soon as possible.”“I can arrange that for you, I just need something in exchange,” Lucas’s smile grew bigger making Selene uneasy. Selene took Faye&rs
CHAPTER 6“You’re kidding.”“I actually get that a lot,” Lucas stood up from his seat and walked towards Selene. The contract says that the wish she made is indeed in exchange for her soul, it shall be irrevocable and must take into effect after the wish has been granted.“What are you?? Are you really a genie? But don’t genies want nothing in return?!”Lucas stopped walking, he is now standing behind her.“Well that’s new, I often get ‘freak’, ‘psycho’, ‘conman’ but don’t worry they are not even close, even with yours, actually.”Lucas was enjoying Selene being confused. He was very thrilled because she is the first human to wish upon him that is not for her own gain, but nevertheless, the same rules shall apply to he
Selene stared at him for a good long minute. Trying to process what he just said.“Look, I am in a situation, and you should actually be glad I did not asked for your soul,” Lucas said, annoyed at her stare.“Are you..offering me a job?”“Yes?”“While I already have a job?”Lucas frowned at her.“Yes? Is there a problem with that? You earn money on one side and earn your forgiveness on the other,” Lucas said, as a matter of fact.Selene scoffed, “You’re unbelievable.”“I don’t know what context of ‘unbelievable’ you are imploring, but thank you.”Lucas turned his gaze to the construction site. This man he was talking about sent an application to them. After browsi
Selene sat on the vacant table at Hayes. The scorching heat made her sweat so much making her feel easily tired. There are not much customers that were dining in despite the clock nearing to tick on 12:00 lunchtime, the sun outside feels like it is just 10 feet away from the land, keeping the people from going out.It has been a week. She woke up at her own bedroom, with Faye frantically rushed on lecturing her about sleeping at their doorstep. She knew she was not sleeping at their doorstep, she came from somewhere else. But that somewhere else was currently out of reach. She did not see Lucas for a week now, when she went to Domus Malum, no one was answering her knocks, she knows he’s just there because his car was parked outside the parish.“Hey, paycheck’s in.” Lora sat in front of her. She handed her an ice-cold juice. Selene mouthed ‘thank you’
“Selene,” Calix called Selene to get her attention.Selene quickly snapped back from zoning out. She mindlessly grabbed her spoon and fork, her eyes dropped on the empty table.Calix stared at her, waiting for her to realize that the food has not arrived yet.“Oh,” Selene dropped the utensils and gave an awkward smile. “I’m sorry,” she muttered.“It’s fine. But are you alright? Do you want to go home?” Calix was sincerely worried of her. Ever since they left the house, she was quiet in the whole ride. She did not even noticed that they went to a floating restaurant with romantic candles leading the way to their table.Calix even arrange a whole bunch of musicians that are now playing their second song. But Selene could not hear anything, nor see anything. Her mind was out of
Lucas unbuttoned his shirt. He cannot see any end on what he’s doing. The number of clients he accepts remain the same, but the amount of his work from scanning the applications and going through each background just to make sure that the their wish will be of personal use for their sinful desires took a heavy toll on him. He rested his back on the chair and closed his eyes, he cannot believe that his Father made him do such awful job but refuses to give him four arms and omnipotence. A knock on his door was heard, and Zera entered, carrying a pile of papers. Lucas grimaced. She carefully placed the papers above his table, and sat on the chair. Lucas started scanning the newly-printed-still-warm applications. “We cannot let humans interfere with our work,” Zera spoke, looking intently at Lucas. “I believe I heard that for the
Lucas went back to the mansion. He took big strides, walking hastily, like someone is catching him. He did not bother to knock or to give a sign of his presence and went straight to the living room. The old man was still sitting and drinking his tea, he was surprised to see Lucas again. “Did you forget something?” he asked, but Lucas just launched and grabbed him by the collar. The man got scared to see Lucas’s face, it looked so angry, yet his lips formed a smile- a devilish smile. His eyes are burning with rage, like a predator ready to eat his prey. “I am afraid that I need to take back a pinch of your happiness,” Lucas said and lifted him up in the air with his one hand. “You dirty humans think they can get away with anything!” he yelled. “Look into my eyes!” Lucas spread fear on the whole room. His gold eyes beamed with anger and his lips twitched. He was r
I pushed the record button, and the little red circle started to blink. The timer on the top-left corner of the screen flashed the time elapsing inthe video. Ten seconds… Fifteen… I took a deep sigh and smiled. “Faye…” I muttered with a hoarse voice. “Are you watching this? I hope you do. I hope you somehow checked for your clothes’ pockets before throwing them out in the laundry, or else, I’m doing this for nothing.” I chuckled, finding myself silly. “And I hope your brain cells work to realize that what I’ve written was the new password of your computer. I’m sorry for changing it.” I cleared my dry throat as I began to feel the tears already filling up.I looked at the clock, and ten minutes from now Faye would be back at my hospital room. My hands started to fidget. “His name is Lucas. He is from somewhere that is beyo
Chapter 49“Hey.” Calix nudged Selene on her shoulder. She jumped by his touch and her gaze quickly flew at his worried face. “Are you okay? You seemed tired.”Selene forced a smile. “Yeah, yes I’m sorry what were you saying?”Calix sighed, worry still not leaving his eyes. “I said Rebecca’s here.” Calix turned to his side and pointed at a fine and elegantly looking lady talking with some guests. “I want you to meet her. Will that be fine?”“Goodness Calix, of course I want to meet your fiance! Come on.” Selene pulled Calix on his arm and dragged him closer to Rebecca.“Baby,” Calix called her, Rebecca’s eyes landed on Selene and she immediately excused herself from the guests. “This is Selene.”“Oh my goodness finally!&rd
CHAPTER 48 “Good morning Madam, welcome to Nyhavn Hotel. A room for?” Selene snapped from roaming her eyes and diverted her attention at the receptionist. “One,” she answered and smiled. The receptionist typed on his computer with such noisy keyboard. “Room for single bed overlooking at the canals, am I right?” “Yes. And do you serve breakfast?” she asked, after a long second the receptionist turned to her with a key on his hand. He faked a smile, Selene could tell. “Yes, an exquisite breakfast will be delivered right at your doorstep Madam. This way, please.” The receptionist went out of the bar and guided her to the elevator. Selene was not really expecting anything particular in the hotel, just something that she could stay comfortably, somewhere she could picture herself just like in her dreams. “Thank you,” she muttered, dragging her luggage inside the elevator. “I’ll be waiting for the
A knock came at the door, with excited steps and giddy smile, Selene ran towards it. She stopped for awhile to catch her breath and brush her long brown hair with her fingers. She heaved a deep sigh and twisted the doorknob, pulling the door open.“Do you know where’s the police station? Paparazzi’s been harassing me way too often.” A deafening silence took over after the question. Selene stared at her for a long time.“Pfft.” Selene cannot hold it anymore and burst into laughter. “Oh I’m going to throw you out and feed you to those baffoons!” Selene threw a big hug to Faye. She missed the warmth of her hug that was partially caused by her thick emerald coat and scarf tied neatly around her neck under the heat of May.“You look ridiculous,” Selene commented on her outfit. “You really came here wearing that? C
A sudden loud thunder shook Santuario del Santo Cristo. The detective’s eyes roamed around the parish, meeting familiar gazes among the people. He realized that all of those people that Lucas want to put protection are all here. He gathered them all using a way he doesn’t want to know.“He invited all the potential victims here, while expecting the killer to visit him at the bunker?” the detective asked Sister Bella. They were sitting at one of the benches, patiently waiting for Lucas to follow them inside the church.“He knows what he’s doing. He put everyone here, because the devil knows he cannot enter in God’s home,” Sister Bella answered. “Is he going to be okay?”The detective cannot bear the anguish anymore, he suddenly stood up but the nun was quick to grab his arm. “Where are you going?” she asked.“I’m going
The smell of antiseptic combined with the metallic smell of the equipment made Selene dizzy. She was staring at the ceiling as the nurses push her bed along the hallways to the laboratory. Faye’s head popped to her sight, smiling slightly, she smiled back. They entered a cold room and she was transferred to a flat surface, a huge bright container waiting above her head. She tilted to the side and saw the doctors and nurses along with Faye and Calix, staring at him through the monitoring room. So much people watching her and giving her their full attention as her body started to move towards inside the MRI scanner.Faye lets out an anxious sigh. She looked at Calix who was beside her, also looking all uneasy. “Lucas better be here after her surgery or else I’ll be throwing hands.”Calix snickered. “Throwing hands won’t do anything. And you better let Selene d
“Good morning Ms. Madden, how are you feeling?” Selene’s doctor entered her room with a few nurses behind him. Faye and Calix stood beside her bed as they both helped Selene to sit up.“I’m feeling better, fortunately,” Selene answered with a smile. Her eyes were droopy as she just woke up from her daily needed nap. “Is there anything wrong?”The doctor smiled at her. “Good to hear that, and no. We are actually here to announce that I have received your request.”“What request?” Faye asked, frowning on Selene then on the doctor. The doctor took a deep sigh. “We are going to operate her brain. She made a personal request after I discussed the terms of her current state.”Selene lowered down her gaze. After she decided to be admitted in the hospital, she onl
CHAPTER 43Sister Bella run her way down the bunker, her loud beating heart overshadowed her faint footsteps as she sauntered down the stairs, her eyes roaming around, wary. She stepped inside dragging her heavy bagon her shoulder, carrying crucifixes and countless bottles of holy water. She heaved a deep sigh and felt her lips tremble a bit.She made careful and calculatedmoves on her way to the lounge, slowly pulling the zipper of her bag open. Her eyes darted to the door of Lucas’ office but she quickly diverted her attention, fighting the urge to go inside. When she finally saw the Tree of Death, rotten and lifeless, she closed her eyes and did her ritual. This is where she begins. The detective was catching his breath as he rushed down the station, his keys dangling on his fingers.“I need more b
Lucas felt a sudden jolt on his chest and flew himself right up. He gasped for air but his lungs felt shallow, nothing on his body was pulsating with life. His eyes widened with agitation as his pupils constrict trying to see from the darkness. He pulled himself up after letting the dizziness subside. A familiar cold pierced his skin but it no longer hurt him, he can only feel the scentless fog around, brushing against his pale skin. He exhaled slowly as he took his first step. His hands winging in the air, trying to find something concrete that could guide him. Finally as he took big strides to what seems like a place empty in all matter, his hand touched a rough barrier, he let his hands wander on it until he felta knob. Lucas closed his eyes, readying himself to enter his home. He twisted the doorknob and pulled the door open.A room, with a fire inside a furnace on the side, countless bottle of alcohol o
