AMELIA'S POV

CHAPTER 33.

When we arrived at the hotel, I couldn’t help but be impressed. The place was luxurious, with polished marble floors, gleaming chandeliers, and a sleek, modern design that gave it an air of sophistication. I wasn't that surprised to know that he was a major investor in the hotel.

Mr Alessandro led the way to the reception desk. "One suite, please," he said smoothly, his face stern like it was whenever he was facing I watched as the receptionist handed him a key card.

"Mr. Alessandro, your suite is ready. We hope you have a pleasant stay," the receptionist said, her voice a little too sweet as she handed him the key.

Alessandro nodded, his smile was professional but distant. He turned toward me. "Come with me."

As we walked toward the elevators, I felt a little out of place in the opulence of the surroundings. I wasn’t used to staying in places like this, and the grandeur made me feel like an outsider. But working with Mr Alessandro meant that I was going

CHAPTER 34.THIRD PERSON'S POV.The ride back to the hotel was calm yet Amelia felt like it was so unsettling. Alessandro had this look on his face that scared boredom but at the same time, it didn't look like he was bored. Anger perhaps? Amelia was tense regardless. She would catch herself stealing a glance at this man once in a while to see if he had that same fixated expression, and yes, he did. Alessandro would quickly change his head direction whenever he was about to steal a glance at her but from the corner of his eyes, he could see her turning his way. He was struggling so hard not laying his eyes on her. They arrived at the hotel with Alessandro leading the way in huge strides while Amelia followed him timidly. Alessandro ordered room service when they got inside the bedroom—a bottle of wine and dinner. "Let's eat," Alessandro spoke out for the first time since they left the venue. He took off his shirt and rolled up the sleeves of his white shirt. "Hmm," Amelia

CHAPTER 35AMELIA'S POVBy the time I woke up the next morning, Mr... Alessandro was nowhere to be found. The curtains were still closed making the room a bit darker even though it was already past seven in the morning. I picked up my phone and decided to reply to the messages that I could not since I arrived. Alessandro's message dropped in after turning on my wifi. "I had to leave this morning with Mike. It was urgent. It might take a while for me to get back so you might as well have fun today. I have surprises for you."Really? I muttered. Just then, the doorbell rang and I stood up to answer it. "Good morning, Miss Amelia. Mr Alessandro requested that we have this sent to you." "Oh, thank you." "You're welcome."I stood at the door to my hotel room, staring down at the envelope in my hands. It was simple, unassuming—cream-colored paper with my name written in neat, elegant handwriting. No sender, no company logo. Just my name.Sliding my finger under the s

CHAPTER 36THIRD PERSON'S POVAlessandro leaned back in his chair. He tapped the edge of his phone against the wood, his mind briefly wandering to Amelia. He hated that he had to leave her in the hotel earlier that morning because of a sudden emergency that he needed to take care of. Her smile had been etched in his thoughts all day, a distraction he couldn't afford, especially now. It'd been a few days and he was dying to see her. The emergency call had been inconvenient but necessary. He glanced at his watch, the ticking second hand reminding him that time was always against him.A sharp knock echoed through the room. "Enter," Alessandro said, his voice cold and commanding. One of his men stepped in, dragging a trembling figure behind him. The man—a middle-tier associate in Alessandro's network—was shoved forward and landed on his knees. Mike stood beside him with a gun pointed at the man's head. Just a simple pull of the trigger would send his brain flying out of his head. Seein

CHAPTER 37AMELIA'S POVThe city lights sparkled like a thousand tiny stars, casting a dreamy glow on the streets as I walked back toward the hotel. The night air was cool against my skin, carrying a faint scent of rain that hadn’t yet fallen. It was quiet and peaceful even until I heard a familiar voice calling my name. "Amelia?”I turned, startled, and found myself staring at Luca. He was leaning casually against his car, a small, knowing smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "What the hell?" I was at a loss for words as I eyed him from head to toe, unable to believe that he was standing right in front of me. "Luca? What are you doing here?” I asked, genuinely surprised. "I could ask you the same thing. What are you doing here? Moreover, you look like you’ve been wandering around aimlessly.”I chuckled nervously. “I guess I lost track of time. Just needed some air.” "Perfect. How about I buy you dinner then we can talk?” he offered, gesturing toward the pas

CHAPTER 38 AMELIA'S POVReturning to work after the trip was supposed to be a regular day, or so I thought. I pushed through the office doors, laptop bag in hand, and immediately felt the shift in the air. The glances. Intense, lingering, almost accusatory. It was as though everyone suddenly found me fascinating.I ignored it at first, heading towards the elevator with my confidence shaking like a bird inside the cold Pacific Ocean. Even the receptionist side at the top floor wasn't excluded from this weird behavior. Yet, the looks persisted. Whispers flitted just out of earshot. I finally settled down at my desk and dived into the morning’s tasks. My fingers hovered over my keyboard as I racked my brain for any clue as to what I might have done. Nothing came to mind.A little before ten, a receptionist from downstairs called. “Miss Amelia, there’s a delivery for you.”A delivery? Again? A mysterious delivery probably? Maybe this would be different. Confused but curious, I took the

I felt Alessandro's eyes on me, his brows furrowed in confusion. “Amelia, are you okay?” he asked, his voice calm but laced with concern.I forced myself to move, muttering a string of apologies. “I’m so sorry, sir. I— I didn’t mean to—” My words fumbled as I arranged the files once more, my fingers trembling as I gathered them. "Amelia.” His tone softened as he stood. “What’s wrong? Did something happen?” “Nothing!” I blurted, too quickly. I straightened up, clutching the files that he wanted me to have to my chest as if they could shield me from the truth that was unraveling in my mind. “I just... I wasn’t paying attention and I was being clumsy. I’m sorry.”I thought he had dropped the investigative questions earlier. His piercing gaze lingered on me, but he didn’t press further. “Alright,” he said after a beat. “The shipment you’ve been coordinating arrived this morning. I need you to finalize the meeting details with the team. You’ll be represen

A man, disheveled and breathless, sprinted through the darkened streets, a gun clutched tightly in his left hand. His heart hammered in his chest as the faint glow of streetlights blurred past him. He was running from something—or someone—and he knew he couldn’t afford to stop.Behind him, a group of men closed the distance, their shadows stretching across the pavement. CHAPTER 41THIRD PERSON'S POV Amelia sat up in bed, her eyes wide as she heard a knock at her door. It was late—too late for any visitors. Hesitantly, she stood and padded to the door, wondering who it could be. "Who is it?" "Luca."When she opened it, her breath caught in her throat.Luca stood in the doorway, blood dripping from his nose and mouth, his clothes torn and disheveled. His expression was one of exhaustion and fury, but there was something else there, too—a vulnerability that caught her off guard. “Luca?” Amelia asked, her voice laced with concern and surprise. “What happened? Are you okay?” “I’m fine,” he lied, though the blood smeared across his face contradicted him. He winced, his body swaying slightly as he stepped into her apartment. “I just need a place to crash for the night. I can't go home looking like this.”Amelia stepped aside, letting him enter. “Come on, sit down. I’ll clean you up,” she said gently.Luca sank onto her couch, his head dropping f

It was a rare moment—one filled with peace, love, and celebration.Mia had arrived that evening, dressed in a simple but elegant green dress that complimented her eyes. She hugged Amelia tightly, her heart full as she whispered, “You’re glowing.”Amelia smiled. “Thank you for coming.” "I somehow thought that I wasn't going to get invited though. I almost wrote your offense down." The two of them laughed and hugged each other again. "Alright ladies, listen up. Delivery is here." Tracy whistled as she walked in with Alessandro and Mike with drinks already in hand. Are you telling me that the man you’re with—Alessandro—is part of the mafia? Like the actual mafia?”Amelia sighed, nodding slowly. “Yes. He is. But it’s not like that of the wicked Mafia. He’s different now, Tracy. You have to understand.”Tracy just blinked at her, her lips parted, but no words came out. When she finally found her voice, it came out in a bitter, breathless whisper. “Amelia... why didn’t you tell me this earlier? What if something had happened to you? What if you had died? CHAPTER 114A full month had gone by.The storm had finally passed. The chaos, the close calls, the sleepless nights filled with fear and uncertainty… all of it now felt like a distant nightmare. The house was peaceful again. The sun poured into the kitchen like warm honey, slipping through the wide windows and stretching across the marble counters. But peace didn’t mean Alessandro’s mind was quiet. He stood before the stove, brows furrowed, eyes glued to the frying pan like it had personally offended him. A spatula in one hand, an open cookbook in the other, and a look of complete helplessness smeared across his gorgeous face.Amelia descended the stairs, rubbing the sleep from her eyes, her silk robe brushing lightly against her bare legs.“Good morning,” she said with a yawn. "Good morning, Princess." He replied. She froze halfway through the last step when she saw him. "What… are you doing?” she asked him. He ordered the arrest after the incident with the fire and—" "What about my father?" "He...we can't find him yet because we don't know...""What do you mean by you can't find him? There was too much noise in the ballroom—guards restraining Luca, Isabelle sobbing, Vincent pacing with his hands clenched so tightly his knuckles were bloodless. The guests were herded out by confused ushers, their whispered speculations louder than their footsteps. But above them all, a scent had begun to creep in.Smoke.By the time Vincent realized it, it was already too late."What—what's that smell?"A scream came from the corridor. Then another.Someone burst into the ballroom, shouting, "Fire! The west wing is on fire!"Panic ignited faster than the flames.Chairs screeched back, people stampeded toward the exits, and guards scrambled to maintain control. The chandelier shook from the vibrations of chaos, the floor slick from spilled wine and shattered glasses."Get everyone out," Vincent roared. "NOW!"But his voice drowned beneath the cacophony. He turned to look at Luca, only to find his son had vanis

CHAPTER 111The room was a cathedral of tension. The priest took his place between the two couples, slightly confused but too afraid to ask questions. In his decades of officiating weddings, this was his first time facing two grooms, two brides, and one room full of unspoken rage.He was, after all, in the middle of dignitaries who weren't just ordinary dignitaries but Mafias — people who weren't by what the law says,s, so he had to be very careful. Alessandro stood beside Isabelle.Luca stood beside Amelia.Their stances mirrored one another—two powerful men claiming love in the same moment, but only one held truth in his chest. The guests sat in hushed awe, some whispering, some pretending to sip from their champagne glasses while watching everything unfold with bated breath.Vincent stood at the far end of the room, arms folded, jaw tight. He had kept control for so long, but even he could feel the edges slipping. Why had Alessandro agreed so easily? Why had Amelia gone so quiet?

CHAPTER 110The estate had never seen a morning like this.Cars glided in one after the other—sleek, tinted, silent. High-ranking families, underworld tycoons, influential business moguls… all arriving in curated elegance, stepping out in tailored suits and shimmering gowns. It wasn’t just a wedding anymore—it was a political stage dressed in white silk and threat-laced promises.Guards lined the hallways. Their radios whispered and clicked with coded words. No one said it aloud, but everyone felt it: this wasn’t going to be a normal wedding. It wasn’t about love. It never was.It was about control. And somewhere inside the very heart of the estate, Amelia sat in a velvet chair with her hands folded tightly in her lap, the corset of her dress digging into her ribs like a warning. Her hair had been swept into soft waves, her makeup flawless—but her eyes… her eyes were hollow. Watching. Waiting. Two guards stood by her door. She watched the clock tick, minute by minute. In a few minutes

CHAPTER 109The morning sun streamed in through the heavily draped windows of Vincent’s estate, casting a dull, golden glow on the silent halls. But inside the grand ballroom, chaos was beginning to take shape—underneath the surface. It was such a wonderful day, after all, the moment that Vincent had been waiting for. Staff bustled in and out. Florists arranged bouquets of rare roses imported overnight. The chandeliers were polished to a blinding sparkle. Musicians tested strings and keys. Everything was being staged for what Vincent had boasted would be the “most powerful alliance in the city’s history”—the double wedding of his daughter and his heir. This was exactly what he had dreamed about. "We would not need to have stressed this much if only he had consented to it earlier." Vincent had said to himself while watching the activities happen below him. "Hopefully, he won't pull a string that would ruin everything, or else I will ruin his life." He added with a cold fac

Amelia suspected that her conversations might be tracked but she didn't mind. It was better than not trying at all. The house was unusually quiet, the silence feeding her anxiety as she dialed Mia’s number. It rang once. Twice.“Hello?” came Mia’s voice, sharp and worried.“It’s me,” Amelia whispered quickly, constantly glancing over her shoulder. “It’s Amelia.”“Amelia! What’s happening? I tried coming back but for some weird reason, I wasn't allowed in. I gave all the explanation that I could but they were not having it and rather insisted that I should go back.” Mia’s voice rose, panic dripping with every word.
