ALPHA PEREZ
Shifting halfway, I let my wolf, Patrick, feel the touch of his dying mate as I rushed to the pack hospital and was appalled at the news of her health. I watched as they patched up her wounds and left her with machines connected to her. As an omega, her wolf was very weak to heal her and the arrow had been dipped in wolfsbane which meant the assassin was bent on killing me.
I hissed in anger at the thought of a monster roaming free in my pack. Wrapping a glove on my hand, I lifted the arrow and sniffed it but all I got was my own scent. The whacker must have used a hypochlorite or something to wipe his scent.
“When will she be awake?” I demand of the doctor who was trying to exit the room.
“It’s hard to say my Alpha, her wolf is equally weak but I have tried all my best on her” he replied opening the door to exit the ward.
“Well your best is not enough, do more for her!” I commanded. I know the doctor has tried his best but I can’t help the feelings of being indebted to someone. It will surely sound crazy that the strongest Alpha was saved by his rejected mate.
“Please try to understand me your highness” he pleaded closing the door and moving back to the room.
“she seemed to have been abused a lot as we found lots of scars on her, her system was already weak making it easier for the venom to work fast in her bloodstream. If only she had not been rejected, then it would have been faster” he explained before leaving the ward.
Looking down at her, she looked very beautiful even in her unconscious form. Apart from looking extremely beautiful, I realized she is very thin and must not have been fed well. She also looked tired as dark circles under her eyes stood out in defiance of her pale skin and tiny frail body.
The door opened again and I see Mark and Jacob, part of the elders, walk in.
“How is madam Pearl doing?” Mark asked, making me frown at him. “I have told you severely today that she is not Pearl, when will that stick to your brain?” I grunt out. He was being a pain in my ass these past days, firstly with finding my mate and now claiming my mate is Pearl.
“You rejected her, she’s our ex mate not mate, you have the gut to think of her as mate after inflicting pain on her, huh?” My wolf snickered. He had been throwing side remarks to hurt me and so far, it’s working.
I felt my orbs change color as my wolf tried to take control but I forced him back, he acted drastically when angry and in the case of his mate, there’s a possibility he is going to go on a killing spree.
“How is that possible though? I mean the arrow and all, who has so much guts to shoot at the Alpha!” Jacob asked, changing the topic earning a silent thanks from Mark
“That is what I would like to know too” I gazed at her fragile form, my heart aching with a mix of emotions. Guilt, anger, and a deep-seated longing swirled within me. How could I have rejected her, my true mate? The scars on her body told a story of suffering, and now, I knew I had contributed more to her pain.
Patrick, my wolf, growled softly, sensing my turmoil. I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself.
As I stood vigil, memories flooded my mind. Our initial meeting, the spark between us, the admiration I felt for her and the cruel rejection. I had thought it was for the good of the pack, but now I realized my mistake, I had done it as a revenge to her for trying to reject me in the first place.
The machines beeping around us seemed to echo my own racing heartbeat as i gently brushed a strand of hair from her forehead, my fingertips grazing her skin.
"Who did this to you?" I whispered, my voice barely audible.
The door creaked open, and the doctor returned with a somber expression. "Alpha, we've found something."
I turned, my eyes locking onto his. "What is it?"
"A small note, along the part the arrow came from. It reads: 'Die in hell, I can’t wait to see your face twisted in agony."
My vision blurred, rage coursing through my veins. Who dared threaten me and harm my mate?
"Get me the pack's best trackers," I ordered. "I want the assassin found, and I want them alive."
As the doctor nodded and left, I leaned in, my lips whispering against her ear.
"Come back to me, my mate. I promise to keep you safe, to cherish and protect you. Forever."
Raven’s eyes fluttered open before she slowly stared at me. For about 20 minutes, we are lost in each other’s eyes, not a word said but a lot understood. The beeping sound from the life support machine did nothing to the thumping sounds booming in my heart. I slowly looked away from her, feeling guilty to have judged her wrongly and selfishly rejected her.“Alpha…”she said in a very low voice that I could barely hear well.“Shh, please don’t try to say anything” I whispered. “Just nod at my question and I’ll understand you” I told her in a cool voice. .“Whe. re a.m i” She managed to stutter out, I smiled at her stubbornness as it was amusing, even on a deathbed, she still had to be this stubborn.“You are at the pack hospital but don’t worry, you will soon be discharged” I quickly added seeing the discomfort on her face.I could tell she was feeling dizzy and maybe a bit confused but that could not stop the question ringing in my head from stumbling out.“Why…why did you save me?” I
Jake hesitated, glancing around nervously. "I don't know if I should say, Alpha. They're powerful, and I don't want to cross them."I hissed and took a step closer to Jake, my eyes locked on his. "You're under my protection, now tell me Jake. Tell me who it is."Jake swallowed hard before speaking. "It's...it's Mark, Alpha. Mark, one of the elders."My eyes narrowed, my mind racing with implications. Mark, one of the most respected elders in our pack, involved in Raven's attack? It couldn't be. Even with the glaring evidence, I knew I had to investigate further before punishing him."Thank you, Jake," I said, my voice firm. "You've done the right thing. I'll make sure you're protected."Jake nodded, looking relieved, and I turned to Maria. "Assemble the elders for me, I need to write a new rule involving the assassin.” I smirked going to my room.I smirked victoriously after the rules had been stamped. The assassin was to be locked in the cell with hard punishment three months before
Raven’s povAs I lay in bed, my eyes fluttered closed, but my mind refused to rest. The darkness was suffocating me as it mostly does at this time of the year, the deafening silence eating into my soul. Suddenly, I was transported back to that fateful night, the night that changed my life forever. From being a sweet loved girl to being a sadistic loner. I could see my mother's smiling face, but it was distorted in agony as she lay on the ground, surrounded by flowers which was mostly used as a hideous hideout for games. The flowers no longer look bright as they deemed along as her life was slipping away. My brother, Karl, was by her side, his eyes filled with tears as he held our mother's hand. This moment made me feel the same helplessness I had felt that night, the same powerlessness to save them. But as the scene unfolded, it twisted and contorted, almost like a reflection in a broken mirror. My mother's face began to fade, replaced by an empty void while Karl’s eyes turned cold
Jack pov“When will Raven be allowed for a sleepover here?” I asked my dad, Alpha Liam. “I don’t know, you know that it is the month for she wolves who have reached the age of eighteen to know where their mates are from.” My dad repliedMy heart pierced at the thought of Raven being with another man If I am not chosen as her mate, I have had a huge crush on Raven since we were kids and had tried really hard to hide it so I always hoped and prayed to the moon goddess.“Jack!” I jumped at the mind link, I will recognize that voice anytime anywhere but why does she sound so tired. “Raven? Raven!” I called back but there was no reply. Raven had never called me jack which means she probably needs me, her nickname for me has always been Jackie since we were little so she must really need my help.Reaching out to my wolf, I tried to track where she could be. Since I am of Alpha blood and is also the future Alpha, it was pretty simple for me as I soon found her on the road side with a littl
Raven pov"Lie down, Raven, and close your eyes," Sofia instructed, her voice soothing as I finished drinking almost a pot of her tea. "Let the tea work its magic."I obeyed, feeling the soft cushion beneath me. Sofia's hands gently placed a warm compress on my forehead."Focus on your breath, Raven. Imagine your wolf stirring within you."I inhaled deeply, trying to calm my racing thoughts. Jack's face, my mother’s and brother’s all lingered in my mind, but I struggled hard to push it aside, focusing on Sofia's guidance."Visualize your wolf's eyes, Raven. What color are they?"I concentrated, and suddenly, piercing yellow eyes appeared in my mind.“I can see yellow ma’am” I whispered "Good, Raven! Now, imagine yourself running with your wolf, feeling the wind in your fur and the sun on your back."I smiled, feeling a sense of freedom. My wolf was emerging, and I was ready to embrace her, the thought of her filled me up with more energy.Sofia's voice whispered more calmly in my ear
Raven pov“So all in all, I am called a stealer because I can be stolen?” I asked, trying to make sure I got her message right “Yes, and you can also steal other mates too”“What! I thought I am only in danger for those who lost their mate?”“Raven, you wolf can also trick a wolf to think that you are their fated mate”“Oh really? That means I can be mated to jack?” I asked, suddenly interested “Of course, but it could lead to a disaster when he meets his real mate as he would have no choice but to leave you or make you his concubine while he crowns her his Luna.”…“Hey! Stop over there” Fear coursed through my veins as I sprinted deep into the woods, desperate to escape the rogues closing in on me. I had finally managed to run away from home as I never had the guts to do so before even amidst the maltreatment from my stepmother, but now I was being hunted, I am beginning to rethink my decision. As my legs went further into the woods, my heart raced alongside it, making me wish ba
Raven povThe second probability was that I pass neutral ground and appear in the human world. Gosh, that is probably the best of my situation. That shouldn't have been in the options to start with but it is better than death. And thirdly, I pry into another pack, then consider myself a rouge, and get killed once I'm in sight. Either way, they all end with me dying. pathetic isn't it?I guess it's survival instincts because one minute I know I have to die, and the next minute, I'm running away from the death that I would definitely face. When I saw Green Oak Pack art on the top of a huge and gigantic gate, I knew that option three had befallen me.Well, I can not die by the hands of the rogues, so it's better to die a fair death. To my benefit—to the benefit of death actually—the gate to the unknown pack was wide ajar, and I fled in with no caution.Even the guards could not stop me, and once I was inside, I swerved to see the rouges retreating in defeat.“Yes! RAVEN I stood there, stunned, as the Alpha's words echoed in my mind. I have been rejected by my fated mate. The one created for me amidst the others that I could steal. The irony was not lost on me. I had wanted to reject him, yes, but somehow, his rejection had managed to stung me and my wolf as she howled weakly ."Wh-why?" I stuttered, trying to hide the hurt.Alpha Perez raised an eyebrow. "Are you seriously asking me that now? Is that not what you want too?”“Well you are an Alpha, Alpha’s always get what they want but you are just throwing your soulmate just like that? You have a lover right?” I accused, drastically putting the blame on him.“You really don't know, do you? You think you are worth keeping by my side? Lol, all I can say though is you might smell different, Raven. Your scent, that energy...it's like nothing I've ever encountered. And those eyes..." He trailed off, his gaze lingering on mine.My cheeks flushed. No one had ever made me feel so exposed."And what ab
