I was dragged away by the guards, my feet dragging behind me as I struggled to keep up. The pack members watched, shouting "The witch has fallen!" in a chorus of gleeful voices. The further we got from the pack house, the louder they became.
Once I was locked in the dungeon, I prayed to the Moon Goddess for darkness to fall. But as the hours passed, the moon rose higher in the sky, bathing the world in silver light. It seemed the Goddess had betrayed me, or perhaps she simply couldn't hear my pleas. The walls of the dungeon were constructed of rough, gray stone, with narrow windows set high in the walls. The only view was of the night sky, vast and uncaring. It was a place of despair, where only the worst offenders were sent. And now, I was one of them. I sat on the cold, damp floor of the dungeon, the only sound was the occasional footsteps of the guards on patrol. I was alone, with only my thoughts for company, for the dungeon was hollow. Time seemed to stretch on forever, as I counted down the minutes until my punishment. Suddenly, I noticed a faint red glow coming from my pendant. It matched the color of my eyes, a shade of red so deep it was almost crimson. I scrambled to my feet in alarm, glancing around to see if the guard was approaching. But the dungeon was empty, save for me and the shadows. I quickly covered the pendant with my hand, blocking the glow. I've worn this pendant since I was a child. My mother had given it to me, saying it was a family heirloom. "When you come of age, you'll discover its true power," she had told me. "It will help you unlock your potential. Just be patient, and until then… wait.” She told me those words and died when I was just ten years old and my brother was six. In the Silvermoon kingdom, you're considered an adult at the age of eighteen, which is the coming of age time. So I waited and waited, hoping that something would happen on my eighteenth birthday. But nothing did. I was kind of heartbroken but I still didn't give up. I thought that it would happen on my nineteenth birthday but never did. On my twentieth, twenty-first, twenty-second, and even twenty-third birthday, the pendant remained the same. And I lost all hope. I started to wonder if my mother had just been telling me stories, or if I was just imagining the glimmer of light I had seen earlier. But now, I saw it - the pendant was glowing brighter than ever, and I knew that my mother had been right all along. Something magical was happening right in front of my eyes. I couldn't believe it. I'd been waiting for so long, and now, it was finally happening. The pendant spoke, its voice soft and melodic. "Hello?" it said. My heart leaped in my chest in fear and I jumped back. I couldn't believe that the pendant was actually speaking to me! I hurriedly took off the pendant and lifted the pendant up to my face, examining it closely. It glowed brightly, pulsing with a soft, green light. "Who are you?" I asked, my voice trembling. I felt like I was going crazy, talking to a pendant like it was a person. But it was definitely talking to me, and I had to know more. I looked around nervously, worried that the guard might be coming. But the dungeon was still and silent, save for the soft hum of the pendant. “Is that you Alina?” The pendant asked instead of answering my question, its voice soothing and calm. "How... how do you know my name?" I stammered, my fear quickly giving way to curiosity as my eyes widened. Still can't believe that a talking pendant knows my name! "That's because I am you," the pendant said, its tone eager and bright. "I-I don't understand," I stammered, still trying to wrap my head around what was happening. "What do you mean by that?" "You see, I am a representation of your wolf side," the pendant explained. "I am the part of you that is connected to your inner wolf.” "My wolf side?" I whispered to myself, still trying to process what the pendant was saying. "I have a wolf side?" I asked, my voice shaking with disbelief. "Yes, you do and that’s me Alina!" the pendant replied, its voice steady and reassuring. My mind was reeling from what I had just heard. I still couldn't believe that I have a wolf side. I was totally overwhelmed by this new information. "For as long as I can remember, I've always thought of myself as a regular person who can communicate with spirits. The idea of having a wolf side never occurred to me. I've never transformed under a full moon or any other time. I don't even know what my wolf looks like, or when I'll howl for the first time. While others younger than me have, I never have. I thought maybe I just wasn't old enough, but as my twentieth birthday passed, I thought that maybe I wasn't meant to have a wolf side after all.” I muttered out loud to myself, oblivious of my humming pendant. I felt my eyes become teary and my throat dry but I couldn't stop now. This is the only chance I will ever have to pour out my heart “While others found their mates and got their wolf gifts, I felt left out and like something was wrong with me. I never got to hunt with the pack, run in the forest, or experience transformation. All I could do was watch from the sidelines as everyone else figured things out. I started to believe that I was cursed and decided to give up hope of ever connecting with my wolf, finding my mate or falling in love. The incident with my brother only reinforced my decision to give up. I thought there was no point in trying anymore." I said, my voice thick with emotion. “If it helps make you feel any better, I am here now.” The pendant said. "Why now, after all this time?" I asked, my voice full of anguish. "Why did you wait until now? Why didn't you come sooner? Why did you let me go through so much pain and humiliation?" “Because you only awakened me today.” The pendant said, its voice soft and measured. "Do you remember the Luna's seat?" "Yes, I remember the Luna's seat," I said, trying to make sense of what was happening. "It was only a few minutes ago. It is the reason why I am here, I mean it's not my fault. How could I have known it was the Luna's seat anyways? It just looked like a beautiful perfect chair!" "When you sat on the seat, you awakened me." the pendant said. "I know it doesn't make much sense, but that's what happened." "But how?" I asked, my head spinning. "How does sitting on a chair activate you?” "Because you are the chosen one meant to lead the Wolfsong Clan alongside your mate, Alpha Aleksander Stormgaze. You are the Luna, Alina!" the pendant exclaimed.“But I don't understand!” I exclaimed in disbelief, addressing the pendant, my voice shaking. “What do you mean by saying I am the chosen one? How can I possibly be the Luna?! I am just an ordinary girl who is despised by everyone!” "You're not merely an ordinary girl, Alina," the pendant responded, its voice filled with reassurance. "You possess something extraordinary. And soon, you will embark on a remarkable journey unlike anything you've ever experienced." This pendant seemed to know more than it should. “But what do you mean by I am the mate to Aleksan-” I attempted to ask, but before I could finish, the sound of footsteps echoed nearby. “Someone's coming!” I exclaimed, making sure the pendant could hear me. “I have to go now.” the pendant informed me. “But wait, you still haven't answered my question! How am I the chosen one?!” I exclaimed, anxious of the approaching footsteps. “Don't worry, I'll explain that some other time. I am a part of you, so you can reach o
Ellaine observed as Aleksander departed from the pack house and ventured outside. She had the desire to follow him and plead with him, but lacked the courage. Instead, she decided to make her way to the dungeon, hoping that some sort of miracle might occur there.Upon reaching her destination, she encountered two guards stationed at the entrance, emanating an aura of toughness. Additionally, there was another guard leaning against a wall, his emotions impossible to decipher. It was a face that Ellaine was all too familiar with.“State your name and business.” He said coldly as he walked up to her.“Ellaine Arvo. I seek to free my friend, Alina.” Ellaine answered.“You can't go in. Alpha Aleksander has given an order not to let anyone in.” The guard said to her.“Oh come on, Lucas! You're the one in charge of the dungeon, surely you can let me in for just a few minutes. Alpha Aleksander doesn't have to know.” Ellaine blurted.“I can't do that. I don't have to remind you of the punishme
Alina's gaze followed Aleksander's, her expression quizzical. "What are you looking at? Is someone there?" she inquired politely, her eyes meeting Aleksander's."It's nothing," Aleksander replied, his focus shifting back to Alina, but his senses remained on high alert, waiting to pounce at the slightest sound.Ellaine slowly emerged from the bushes, her hand pressed to her heart, relief washing over her face like a calming wave. She let out a deep sigh, her voice barely audible, "Thank the goddess they didn't see me. What would I have done?" She spoke to herself, her voice trembling with anxiety. "From now on, I'll focus on their body language, not try to eavesdrop." But her resolve lasted only two minutes, her curiosity getting the better of her as she craned her neck forward, frustration etched on her face. "What are they saying?" she groaned, her teeth sucking in annoyance.Meanwhile, back at Alina and Aleksander's clearing, the tension began to dissipate as Aleksander spoke up.
A young red-haired lady burst into the pack's dining hall, excitement radiating from her pores. "Have you heard the latest news?" she asked, her voice trembling with delight. The group around her looked up from their meals, curiosity piqued. "You mean about Alpha Aleksander and Alina?" Lucas asked, his tone laced with skepticism. "I can't believe he's fallen for someone like her," the red-haired lady said, her voice dripping with disdain. "That low-ranking killer?" She shook her head, her expression a mix of disgust and anger. "What infuriates me most is his deception. He treated her poorly in front of us, but behind closed doors, he was her doting Alpha." A feminine voice chimed in, "Thank God Ellaine exposed the truth." “Speak of the devil, and here she comes.” a voice said. Just then, the door swung open, and Alina walked in, accompanied by Ellaine. The room fell silent, all eyes fixed on Alina. She felt the weight of their gaze, her heart racing. "What's going on?" she
"Alina Starfall, you made a promise to me and you broke it!" Aleksander thundered, his accusing fingers pointing towards her as his eyes blazed with fury."Aleksander, I-I don't know—" she stuttered, her voice trembling. "It's Alpha Aleksander to you!" he bellowed, his chest heaving with rage. Alina's panic escalated, her hands shaking, her knees weakening, and her vision blurring as tears pricked at the corners of her eyes. Her mind raced frantically, trying to recall what she might have done to incur his wrath, but her desperate glances around the room and at Ellaine yielded nothing. With a trembling hand, she reached for the glass of water to quench her dry throat, only for Aleksander to knock it out of her hand, eliciting a collective gasp from everyone."Look at me when I'm talking to you!" Aleksander bellowed, his outrage so intense that he swept his arm across the table, sending plates crashing to the floor, food spilling everywhere, and shards of ceramic flying in all direc
Aleksander's voice was firm but laced with stress as he addressed Ellaine, who stood before him, her head bowed and her body trembling with fear. "Speak, Beta." As he leaned back in his chair, rubbing his temple, he heard faint whimpers and sat up straight. "Are you crying, Beta?" he asked, his brows furrowed in confusion. Ellaine's body crumpled, her knees hitting the floor as she begged, "Please, Alpha, forgive her and punish me instead!" Her voice cracked with emotion, her hands clasped together in a desperate plea. Aleksander stood up, Ellaine clinging to his legs. "Are you here to plead for your friend?" he asked, his tone softening. Through sobs, Ellaine revealed, "Alina is innocent! I started the rumor, Alpha!" Aleksander's eyes widened in disbelief, his heart racing with guilt. "Were you the presence I sensed in the forest that night?" he asked, his voice laced with fear and uncertainty. Ellaine's gaze met his, her sage green eyes filled with tears. "Yes, Alpha. I follo
"Try again!" Aleksander thundered at Meynard, his panic surging. The gravity of the situation hit him like a ton of bricks - if Alina died, the consequences would be catastrophic. Meynard's face contorted in fear as he crouched down beside Alina, repeating the process with shaking hands. "It's still not working!" he yelled, his voice laced with desperation. Alina's face grew paler by the second, her life force ebbing away. Her body convulsed violently, blood gushing from her closed eyes like a gruesome fountain. Ellaine's horror-stricken gasp filled the air. "Oh God, she's bleeding from her eyes! Is she going to die?" she sobbed, tears streaming down her face. Faris's voice cracked with emotion as he pleaded, "Alpha Aleksander, please, you have to do something! We can't lose Alina!" The weight of responsibility crushed Aleksander as he knelt beside Alina, his heart racing. Though he possessed healing abilities, he knew he wasn't the strongest, and if Meynard had failed, wha
Aleksander strode into the room, his piercing gaze fixed on Alina's closed eyes. "Here's Faris. Start talking!" he barked, his loud voice jolting Alina awake. Breathlessly, Alina rose to her feet, wiping her face and taking a step closer to Faris. "Oh, Faris... what have they done to you?" she whispered, tears welling up in her eyes as she took in his disheveled and bruised face. Her arms reached out to touch his face, her fingers trembling with compassion. Aleksander released his grip on Faris' collar and sat on the bed, his eyes watching with disdain as the siblings shared a tender moment. "Oh, don't be so dramatic," he muttered. Alina's voice was laced with concern as she embraced Faris, tears on her cheeks. "Are you okay? You look like you haven't eaten in days." Faris' voice was barely audible, his words muffled by their embrace. "I'm fine, Alina. Grateful to the goddess to even be alive." Aleksander's sigh was heavy with impatience, almost rolling his eyes. "Enough of this
