Camille's POV 

Well, that was hurtful. A little bit too painful especially when it came from a man whom I had seen as a father for about a year.  

I hadn't meant for Mr Martins to hear. I'd just wanted to scare Chad so he could be against the marriage as well. Our parents couldn't possibly force two unwilling parties to get married, could they? 

"Mr. Martins, I'm so-"

"Save it, Camille," he interrupted, his voice cold and cutting. "I may be bedridden, but my ears still work just fine. I never would have imagined you could be so callous and disrespectful. When I heard Caldwell's daughter was a brat, I didn't know how true that was. And you have shown me."

Well, shit.  

I hadn't expected it all to bounce back on my father.  

My cheeks burned with shame as I struggled to find the right words to apologize.
