The two brothers carried identical grins as they watched Layla's face turn pale.
"I am Darius," the one with stormy grey eyes said as he approached her. He gave her a warm hug and took her bag from her.
"And, I am Lucius," the second said. He also came forward and hugged her. He didn't stop there he placed a peck on her forehead and took her hand.
Layla's heart was frozen. Her head was working at a thousand thoughts per second.
Her fears started rising and threatening to swallow her up.
Her mind tried to bring up the contract. She wanted badly to read the content. But she had foolishly signed without reading, thinking that everything was just as they discussed in the office.
The house was relatively empty. And not the image she was thinking of in her head.
She expected to find a ton of servants and cameras mounted all around but it was not the case at all.
The large living area was free from any humans. The large sofas filled the room with decorative flowers positioned at strategic places.
Lucius led her to the stairs, where Darius was already at.
She realized they were taking her to the room. Her heart resumed racing as the steps to the higher floor became shorter and shorter.
Finally, they got to the room. It was a large room. She couldn't even describe it as a presidential suite. This was more than presidential.
The bed could fit twenty people comfortably with more than enough space to play around with.
The wardrobe was so large, she thought there was a hall behind the doors until Darius pulled it open and placed her bag in it.
Lucius left her side and moved to the bed.
"May I ask a question?" She whispered from where she stood.
Darius —the one she spoke with, turned to look at her.
"Sure, what's up?" He demanded casually.
"The contract is for you... Just you, right?" Her heart stopped again as she waited for him to give her an answer.
"You didn't read it?" He asked with a smirk.
Blood drained from Layla's face.
"You are our fianceé and we will be spending time together. Oh, and he is my twin brother. Lucius and Darius Winston, welcome to the family," he said as he moved away from the wardrobe and moved to the door.
"Next time you are signing something, make sure you read it," He hissed before disappearing.
He left her alone in the room with his brother. The one she had never met.
"Why don't you come to the bed and relax, I am sure the ride was a long one," he said.
She blinked at him and moved her eyes to the lounge chairs in a corner of the room.
"No, thank you. I am fine." Layla moved quickly to the lounge chairs and sat down.
Her hands were shaking as she realized the mess she had put herself into.
She was still lost in thoughts when the wind shifted and Lucius was standing in front of her.
How did he move so fast?
He sat on the chair, impossibly close to her. His long fingers stretched and rested on her cheek.
"I am not as patient as my brother... If you read that contract you would have seen mine conditions as well... I am a very touchy partner..." He snickered as his hands moved to her neckline.
Layla found herself unable to move. It was like she was in a trance.
A strong magical hold that prevented her from reacting.
Half of her mind told her to scream and run, but the other half wanted this strangely handsome man to continue whatever he was doing to her.
"Damn, you are so beautiful..." He whispered as his eyes moved lower to her chest.
His fingers were trailing dangerously above her chest, a thin line to her cleavage.
Layla's mind was having an internal battle. Goosebumps appeared on her skin and her breath became harsher as her body reacted to this strange man's touches.
This was just day one and she couldn't resist him. What would happen in two months?
"I made a very good choice..." He mumbled shifting his nose closer to her. He inhaled her scent, smiling as her jasmine-scented perfume clouded his mind.
"You are just seeing me now. Your brother made the choice," Layla pointed out.
He stopped caressing her skin and pulled her slightly away so that his eyes could focus on her face.
"In that canteen, it was me you barged into... Not my brother," Lucius corrected.
Layla blinked as she tried to remember, she must have been so shocked that she didn't notice the slight change in their eyes color.
His eyes moved to her lips and all he wanted was to kiss her. The urge was so strong that he had to fight the turmoil within him or he would explode.
"Why me... why didn't you pick someone else?" She whispered, breathlessly.
"Strip!" He said instead.
Like a hard option hit through her head, Layla snapped her eyes widely open and glared at him.
"What?"
But he only smirked and relaxed into the chair.
"You said you didn't want my brother to touch you and he won't. But you and I didn't hold such a conversation."
She jumped to her feet as the enchantment she was in earlier broke off and she became overwhelmed with fear.
"What? You can't do that!" She yelled already backing away.
"I am not going to rape you. I can't do that even if I wanted to..."
Her mind relaxed a bit but she could tell there was more from the way his evil grin returned.
"But, my side of the contract says that you have to be naked at all times when we are alone in the room," he said.
He pulled out a file, Layla had not noticed beneath the table and flashed it to her.
"Section five. You signed it. So now we execute it, strip."
Darius returned from the kitchen with a large tray of food in his hands. His wolf was excited. Their mate was finally with them. They have been searching for years now for the perfect mate that would suit both of them to no avail. Until he met her that morning. His wolf almost let out a primal sound as she stepped into his office that morning while Rita was sucking him off.He knew then and there that she was the one. When Lucius returned that afternoon to say the same thing, this contract was the only way to bring her close to them without scaring her. After all, she was only a human, and creatures like them were supposed to be myths. With the tray in his hands and a smile on his lips, he pushed the door to their bedroom open. The air immediately changed. Tension lingered in the room.He turned to the lounge and saw Layla standing with her hands pulled into fists while his brother only smirked in anticipation.Knowing Lucius, Darius was certain he had made a very crazy demand. He qu
Layla stood staring at the naked guy in front of her. She couldn’t imagine what was going on with her life at the moment.Thousand of thoughts were going through her head, she ought to pay attention to her coronary heart screaming and crying for help. How could she resist the captivating guy in front of her?“Come sleep here with me,” Lucius's words snapped her out of her thoughts. One part of Layla wanted all of him and some other part needed to run but how could she possibly run? They had her damned signature! She slowly dropped her towel and her bare frame became exposed to him.Lucius's s wolf almost let out a primal groan as he gazed lustfully at her bare body despite the dimmed blue light coming from the bedside lamp.He had been looking forward to this time all his life. He couldn't wait to get his hands on her.He tapped the space beside him and beckoned to her to come close.“This is going to be fun,” he said.He was attempting to withstand the urge within himself. As his bro
“Argh!“ Layla screamed as she jumped out of the bed like someone who had seen a ghost.Lucius raised his face to her and cocked his head to the side like a predator. “What are you doing?” she asked, her heart moving so fast she feared it would tear through.Lucius stood from the bed and chuckled lightly. He thought Layla must be amazing at acting. Surely she couldn't have been asleep. How could she be asleep while he did all of that to her? She was most definitely just pretending now. She was acting scared. Brilliant..."Layla..." He said and started coming toward her but she jumped farther away from him and raised her finger in warning."Do not come any closer or I'll scream!" She stuttered as she took unconscious steps backward. He chuckled all over again and continued strolling towards her. “Why are you acting like a child? How can you pretend not to know what was going on?”Layla felt the sincerity in his voice but her mind refused to put the puzzle together. She was determined t
Chapter 8:Layla woke up to an empty bed the next morning. A thousand thoughts rolled up in her head as she sat up and stared across the room. Everything felt surreal to her. It felt like the day had gone by when she met Darius who proposed this crazy plan to her... And here she was…"I have to speak to them," she said as she threw the bedsheet to the side and got on her feet. This madness they called a contract had to cease today. She didn’t think she could cope with them for another day not to talk of two months. She took a short shower and threw on the same clothes she had worn the day before. She packed her hair up into a ponytail and exited the room. The hallway was just as lonely as the room, but its beauty paid off on this. The twins' brothers were really swimming in money. Every detail in the mansion seemed to be carved in gold. Waoh!"Oh, I was just about to come to you, ma'am. Good morning!"Layla heard the chirpy voice of a woman and she turned to find a blonde-looking ma
Chapter 9:"Good morning ladies!" Leo greeted and Layla narrowed her eyes at him.She was still very unhappy about her situation and the smallest of things pissed her off."There is nothing good about the morning! I don’t think I can cope in this place with the way you all behave!" She cried out as she walked towards him. She needed someone to vent her anger on.“This is Leo, he is going to be your assistant,” Danah said with a short smile.Leo pulled the car's door open and gestured for her to move in instead. She hissed but did as she was instructed. He went in after her and they settled in the back seat while Danah sat with the driver at the front seat of the SUV.Layla didn't see the need of having an assistant, everything looked weird."So?" Layla started as the car moved. Was he just going to ignore her like his masters did?Leo let out air from his mouth and turned to her. "Layla, we will do everything possible to make sure you are comfortable. We have orders to make you feel a
Chapter 10:Lucius couldn't but imagine the kind of girl Layla was; just last night she was begging to be spared yet here she was initiating the same thing ran from.He hoped she was truly the virgin she claimed to be because her character didn't match her claim at all. What kind of a lady moaned so loudly beside a man and still claimed to be a virgin? In all ramifications, she must definitely be a good actress. But she couldn't hide forever; her days were numbered sooner or later the truth would be revealed. He couldn't deny her moans had turned him on; she was too beautiful to ignore. If she wasn't a virgin, they could only be disappointed but she couldn't be let go. Besides, it was too rare to find a beautiful woman like her as a virgin. He could still remember the conversation he had with his brother after breakfast.“Lucius you are taking this too far. You need to let her stay with her clothes on. Maybe even let her have her room," Darius said.Lucius scoffed and continued walki
Chapter 11:Layla felt her heart skip to her throat as his dark eyes stared at her form on the bed.Lucius wanted to rip off the blanket she was using to cover her body so perfectly and show her exactly his sexual identification but at the last moment, his brother's words came to him and he controlled himself."You should get some sleep," he said to the curious woman. He got on the bed and turned his back to her.Layla was not satisfied with his response but she knew better than to make a fuss about it. She sealed her lips and let her eyes roam over his naked back, soon the contours, lured her to sleep. She hoped she wouldn't have one of her naughty dreams so as not to cause problems for herself and thankfully her sleep was peaceful until the soft sound of the door closing pulled her out of sleep. She blinked with raised brows as she realized Lucius was sneaking out.She looked at the time on the bedside clock and saw that it was exactly 11:45 p.m. She couldn't help but ponder where h
Chapter 12:"Okay... You may do what you want then," Layla waved, motioning to Beatrice to step forward.Layla just stood there and let Beatrice dress her up, when she was done with that, she went on to fix her hair and makeup. The rich did know how to get value for their money, she couldn't believe she was the one in the mirror. She saw the benefit of having someone dress her because she appeared to be a completely different person.Soon, Layla started wondering where she was going for them to go through this much trouble dressing. It wasn't her wedding, yet they had taken the trouble to employ someone to fix her up."It's done ma'am," Beatrice said and Layla smiled at her."Thank you," she whispered as she cautiously got out of the chair and moved out of the room.Darius and Lucius, who were waiting downstairs, were stunned when they saw Layla. The Layla they were meeting that morning was perfect; she was always beautiful but this one looked extravagantly adorable. A perfect match
Chapter 252:The sun painted the sky with hues of orange and pink as Layla, Darius, Lucius, Diane —her mother— and their energetic quadruplets spread out a vibrant picnic blanket on the lush green grass years after the incidence that almost took her life. The scent of blooming flowers and the distant sound of a babbling brook created a tranquil ambiance around them. The family had decided to take a break from the hustle and bustle of their eventful lives, choosing to immerse themselves in the serenity of nature a few months after everything that happened to them.Layla watched with a smile as the children, a whirlwind of laughter and energy, chased butterflies and played tag. Darius was setting up a portable grill, the scent of sizzling barbecue already wafting through the air."You know they pretty much look like you when you were at their age,” Diane said, which made Layla come out of her mind and smiled.“Do they? They are draining the life out of me with their stubbornness,” Lay
Chapter 251:The moon cast an eerie glow over the ancient clearing where the Council of Wolves convened. Tall trees surrounded the clearing, their branches intertwining to create a natural canopy that shielded the area from prying eyes. It was where the Council held their meetings any time a member committed an offense.A hushed silence settled over the assembly as Rosa and Vanessa were escorted to the center, where a circle of powerful wolves awaited them.Magnus, from his seated position, fixed his penetrating gaze on the two culprits. "Rosa and Vanessa," he growled, his voice echoing through the clearing. "You stand accused of heinous crimes against the pack. Your actions have sown discord, mistrust, and fear among us. Explain yourselves."Rosa stepped forward with defiance in her eyes. "It was never my intention to cause any disharmony in the pack. All I have ever wanted was the unity of this pack. I never knew it would end up this way. It was all for the greater cause," she
Chapter 250:The café was bathed in the soft glow of afternoon sunlight as Leo walked in, searching for Dane. She practically denied him access to her house after everything he had done, this was the last time to make things right with her. He spotted her sitting at a corner table, engrossed in a book. Determination set in, he approached her, ready to confront the tension that had lingered between them.Leo cleared his throat. "Dane, can we talk please?"Dane looked up, her eyes narrowing with a mixture of surprise and skepticism. "What do you want, Leo? There is nothing to talk about?" she stated and continued readingLeo took a deep breath, his gaze steady. "I want to apologize. I messed up, and I want to make things right. Sincerely I am sorry for everything I did, I should have done better."Dane scoffed, a defensive wall evident in her posture. "Apologize? Is that supposed to make everything okay? So you expect me to receive you with an open arm."Leo sat down across from her,
Chapter 249:The minutes stretched into an eternity as Lucius and Darius waited in the hushed anticipation of the hospital reception. The swinging doors leading to the theater remained steadfastly closed, concealing the fate of Layla and their unborn children. Finally, the doctor emerged, his expression somber. Lucius and Darius shot to their feet, their eyes locking onto the doctor as a silent plea for information hung in the air.The doctor approached, his gaze heavy with a sadness that echoed through the room. Lucius's heart sank, and Darius's grip tightened on the edge of the chair. They urged the doctor to speak, their words a symphony of anxiety."Please, tell us. How is Layla? How are the babies? Please say something, are they fine?" Lucius implored, his voice strained. The doctor took a deep breath, the weight of the news evident in his eyes. "I'm sorry. Layla experienced complications during the surgery. We couldn't save the baby, it had to be between her or the baby."A h
Chapter 248:The hospital reception was a canvas of subdued hues, the gentle hum of conversation and the distant shuffle of footsteps creating an ambience of anticipation. Lucius, perched on the edge of an uncomfortable chair, checked his watch for what felt like the hundredth time. The sterile white walls seemed to close in as minutes stretched into an agonizing eternity.Lucius was oblivious to his environment, not minding the activity going on in the hospital. The goal was Layla, nothing must happen to her. It was the second time she was facing this kind of situation and it was irresponsible on his own side. How could he not protect their supposed Luna as an Alpha that he was?Lucius couldn't shake the knot of worry in his stomach as he waited for any news about Layla. The theater doors loomed before him, a barrier between him and the answers he desperately sought. He stood, pacing the small waiting area, glancing at the doors every few steps as if expecting them to swing open wi
Chapter 247:Lucius felt a cold shiver run down his spine as he burst through the door, closely followed by Darius and Leo. Layla lay unconscious on the floor, her usually vibrant eyes now closed. Panic gripped Lucius's chest."Darius, something's not right. We need to get help," Lucius urged, rushing to Layla's side.Darius swiftly pulled out his phone and dialed the emergency number, his voice urgent as he described Layla's condition to the operator. Meanwhile, Leo crouched down next to Layla, gently trying to rouse her."Layla, come on. Wake up," Leo muttered, his voice filled with concern.“I should have known from the start,” Darius spat angrily.“What happened?” Lucius asked turning to Mary while attending to Layla at the same time.“I don’t know I just saw her lying there, I swear I don’t know,” Mary stated in fear.“Why the hell are they taking so much time?” Lucius yelled at Darius, ignoring Mary, “Can you call them again?” he urged.“I am trying to..." Darius replied but h
Chapter 246:Leo paced back and forth in his quarters, his mind a whirlwind of conflicting thoughts. The weight of the discovery in Dane's wardrobe pressed heavily on his shoulders, and he couldn't shake the unease that gnawed at him. He glanced at the folded letter in his hand, the evidence that threatened to unravel the fragile peace within the pack.As he mulled over his options, he couldn't escape the turmoil within. The pack had been through enough, especially Layla. She didn't need another layer of deception and manipulation. Leo clenched his fists, the frustration building within him.Eventually, he made a decision. He needed to tell Darius that Dane was the traitor, he wasn’t going to let emotions get the best out of him.But it pained him that Dane wasn’t the person she claimed she was.Leo stormed towards Darius's office, his determined strides echoing in the quiet hallway. He knocked briskly on the door, and Darius looked up from his desk, a questioning gaze in his eyes
Chapter 245:The room was cast in a soft glow as Leo surfs through Dane's wardrobe, a single purpose guiding his search. He needed his credit card, but as he moved the clothes aside, his fingers brushed against a stack of letters. Curiosity piqued...He pulled them out, his eyes narrowing as he recognized the distinct handwriting that mirrored the ominous letters from Jake.He took a look at the letter once again if it was a dream but it wasn't.It was the letter from Jake with the same content and handwriting.Dane walked into the room, catching Leo off guard. He held up the letters, his voice steady but laced with suspicion. "What's the deal with these, Dane? They look a lot like the letters we've been getting from Jake."Dane's eyes widened, and she stuttered, "Leo, what are you doing going through my things?"Ignoring her defection. Leo pressed on. "Answer the question. Why do you have letters that mirror the ones from Jake? I need you to start talking now?""What letter?" Sh
Chapter 244:Layla and Rosa sat in the living room. The air filled with the warmth of shared secrets and laughter. They were surrounded by the familiar comfort of their home, a safe haven from the challenges that awaited them beyond its walls. The twins had always been a source of support, and today was no different.Rosa glanced at Layla, etching her features. "You sure you're okay, Layla? You've been coughing a lot lately. Maybe you should see a doctor. This pregnancy is very taking a toll on you.”Layla waved off the suggestion with a weak smile. "It's just a cold, Rosa, nothing to worry about. Besides, we have more pressing matters to discuss."Rosa leaned forward, her curiosity piqued. "The letters, right? But your health should be your greatest priority now. Have you figured out who might be behind the letters?" she asked wanting to know the recent information concerning the situation.Layla sighed, her eyes reflecting a mix of frustration and fatigue. "Not yet. It's like ch
