MADELINE'S POV

This was the night I had chosen, the night of all nights—the night I had chosen to regain my freedom by hook or by crook. I had finally decided to abscond from Oceanwolf Pack.

My heart raved with pure excitement and vivid fear. I had devised a plan to slip away unnoticed, a plan no one knew of. I was convinced that I had done my homework and accounted for any obstacle that would come my way.

When the household was all asleep and inactive, I gathered the little luggage I had and headed towards the crooked gravel path leading to the western borders.

The western borders were more at peace compared to the other borders and were not heavily armed with warrior wolves. Although the border led to the dense forests, which were home to brutal rogue wolves, I was ready to take the risk for my happiness.

As I approached the western borders, my hopes were dashed by the sudden appearance of a group of warrior wolves. They detected me so fast with their keen senses before I even h

MADELINE'S POV It's been days since I started working in the alpha's mansion. I had little or nothing to do compared to when I was stationed at the servants' quarters. Even now that I was close to Alpha Konan, he was rarely seen around. But I could tell he had people watching my every move. Sometimes I sit and wonder why Alpha Konan could take a liking to me— Or was he joking? Liking for what exactly? That was his own cup of coffee, anyway. I hadn't given up on my plan to leave the pack. I was only an obedient servant so I could plan my next strategy and leave the pack for good. This fateful morning, I went about my normal business as I cleaned off the dust on the staircase railings. I overheard some of the servants discussing Alpha Novare's arrival coming in two days. They also enlightened me on the state of Alpha Konan's and Alpha Novare's relationship. They were always at loggerheads with each other. Alpha Novare's arrival day could be the perfect time to abscond from the pa

  • Contracted Mate To Alpha Konan   CHAPTER FORTY FOUR

ROSALINE'S POV Shock rippled through me as I found Gabriel, my mate beside alpha Novare. I was aware he was a beta, but never in my imagination did it occur to me that he was second in command to alpha Novare of crescent pack. All through the welcome dinner, he stole glances at me to the point he made it obvious, making the few observant ones around the table to take note. For everytime he did that, I made sure I averted his gaze. It made me inexplicably unsettled. I was used to being the one in control, the one whose single glance could intimidate anyone, male or female alike. His gaze held a warmth that I couldn't quite comprehend, a depth that made me feel exposed and vulnerable. Instead of thinking of Gabriel, I busied myself with the task at hand. I was at the pack's training grounds, trying to settle the scuffle between different ranks and Gabriel strutted in. "Talk of the devil," I scoffed and huffed. I signalled the warrior wolves present to leave and give us ample privacy

    MADELINE'S POV Rosaline pulled me out of the meeting room forcefully. She didn't let me go until we came to a secluded part of the hallway. "What was the meaning of what you did back there, Madeline? Do you know the gravity of what you have done? You could have just kept your mouth shut and maintained your place as the servant girl that you are." The word servant girl drove me to the brink of insanity. "What would you have expected me to do? Stand and watch how I was being ridiculed and embarrassed, and none of you lots from Oceanwolf pack could say a thing? You all are a whole bunch of hypocrites trying to save your asses whilst turning me into a sacrificial lamb," I retorted. My voice could be heard several miles away. "Listen, Rosaline, this wouldn't have happened if Alpha Konan had just left me to abscond without holding me back." Rosaline's face showed signs of surprise. "Wait Madeline, I don't get you. You mean you tried to abscond from the pack?" I withdrew for a while;

MADELINE'S POV I woke up and everywhere was pitch black. "Shit!!!" I was still in my wolf form. I cried and slept in my wolf form. It was all peaceful and quiet—the best sleep I had in a long while. The scent of the pine, mossy ground, and damp soil filled my senses, the earth cool beneath my paws, lulling me into a blissful tranquility. The worries of my human life faded. In that split moment, I simply aligned myself as a creature of the forest, one rhythm with nature. I felt a sense of freedom. No deadlines, absolutely no expectations, just the primal joy of being alive. I remembered suddenly that I had Alpha Konan and Oceanwolf Pack to deal with. I let out a soft howl, my voice blending with the anxiety I felt within. What was I going to do? I couldn't shift back to my human form. I had absolutely nothing to cover up my shame. I resolved to walk back to Oceanwolf Pack in my wolf form. With each step I took, I was overwhelmed with anxiety. Panicking, I glanced around, my he

ALPHA KONAN'S POV Seated opposite Alpha Novare and his pack members, we listened intently as the pressing matter of pack security unfolded. Plans were proposed to boost patrols both within and outside the pack borders, and it was met with unanimous agreement. Amidst nods of approval, the importance of emergency preparedness and first aid training for werewolves was discussed and underscored. With everyone coming to a consensus, the diplomatic meeting came to an end. "Konan," Alpha Novare called. "We will be leaving your pack in two days, and for whatever we discussed in this meeting to take effect from my end, your-whore-of-a-servant-girl needs to come with us." I bubbled with anger. I knew he was planning to poke at my pride and rile me up. "Need I help remind you that she goes nowhere with you? My decision is final, Novare. There's nothing to discuss about that anymore. The only thing I can do for you is to give you another servant girl in replacement of Madeline. I will allow

ROSALINE'S POV This wasn't time to pretend selective amnesia. I remembered vividly the events that led me to the pack hospital. The steady rhythm of the IV drop, the beeping of the heart monitor, and the smell of anaesthetic and disinfectant added to my throbbing headache and churning stomach. I stood up from the bed. It was almost impossible to guide my steps. "Shit, this dizziness!!!" The door opened and my attending nurse came in. "You've regained consciousness, Miss Rosaline. How are you feeling?" her face beaming with smiles. "How long have I been out?" I interjected. "Uhm..." "If I am to be precise, you were out for a day and half," she replied. I rolled my eyes. "Hope you are feeling better," she asked once again and I found it very annoying. "You should know from my looks that I am far from being okay," I replied. "Alright. So I suggest you take more rest," the nurse replied. "I don't want that!" I snapped. "I might as well get worse or catch some nosocomial infect

GODFATHER'S POV "Nurse Maude, why would you carry out such an expedition on Oceanwolf pack without anyone's consent?" She rolled her eyes. Really? I was seething with my barely contained rage. I didn't take delight in being summoned by Alpha Gritus without prior knowledge of Maude's actions. With her wrinkled middle-aged face, she stood her ground, unwilling to answer me. "I believe I am talking to you Nurse Maude. Answer the god-damned question," I retorted, almost losing my cool. "I don't have to answer to you. Do I??" she replied rudely. "Bitch..." A clear of the throat interrupted me. There stood Braco, giving us both a questioning look. "Alpha Gritus is ready and waiting for you both in the grand hall." Beads of sweat broke on my forehead as we made our way to the grand hall. There sat Alpha Gritus in his usual seat, his look expressionless. "I remember telling you all to take a pause on everything to re-strategize. Now which one of you attacked Oceanwolf pack without

ALPHA KONAN'S POV "You haven't fallen in love with Madeline, have you?" Rosaline asked with a questioning look on her face. My gaze snapped to Rosaline. "What is the reason you ask this question, Rosaline?" "There's every reason for me to ask." Rosaline replied without missing a beat. "Look at our pack borders. Alpha Novare indirectly threatens us with each passing hour to withdraw their troops. We aren't too good with security right now. Letting emotions cloud your judgment could be disastrous." "For the umpteenth time Rosaline, Madeline is a servant who carelessly lost my baby. Nothing more!" Rosaline arched her eyebrows. "You are strongly in denial Alpha Konan. It is obvious to me that Madeline has ignited a fire in you and you are gradually growing fond of it. This isn't just about Crescent Pack or her deeds. You care for her." I let out a frustrated sigh. "Even if I do, it doesn't change what she's done. She still broke the rules." "And yet, here we are, debating whethe

His face still carried the bruises from that fight.Everyone bowed in respect, including me. He just nodded, as expected of an Alpha. No words. His eyes caught mine briefly. Rosaline, swift as she was, glanced between us as if reading us both.I held my chin high, ignoring the sting our little misunderstanding had brought. After they were gone, Grandma Catherine's voice broke through like a soft bell."You had a fight with Alpha Konan," she stated.I didn't pretend. MADELINE'S POVThe silence that followed was drawn thin like a bowstring aiming for its target. Warrior Wolves on both sides grew rigid. It was as if the earth stopped its rotation to watch.I met Alpha Konan and beckoned to him not to do this. Instead, he ignored me like I was some trash to be disposed."Really? Konan. A duel?" Alpha Novare said, tightening the piece of cloth on his wrist.Alpha Konan didn't waste time. He stalked to the sparring circle and peeled off his shirt as if it offended him. Both of them were now shirtless, carved from pure grit and bloodlines, sweet and moist like candy. This was not the first time I had seen them shirtless, but the warm rising sun was unforgivingly honest, highlighting their Greek god features. It wasn't just me. Other women around. Even the male warrior wolves pretended to be unaffected, but I could feel the temperature spike.Still, in my own realm, the fight started. It didn't just start, it detonated. They didn't move like men. They mo

My clothes hung in tatters, but I cared less.Gabriel, on the other hand,, stood there, staring with an infuriating grin."That same scent..." he said dramatically, inhaling like an idiot. That same lithe, bossy little frame—but today...I swear, you look stunningly sexier, even in your tattered clothes.I hissed between my teeth. "Why did you follow me into the woods?"He shrugged. "Saw a rogue wolf tearing through Crescent Pack lands. Wanted to make sure it wasn't some rogue.""You wish, don't you? I questioned curtly. Why weren't you at the meeting?"He cocked his head, his infuriating grin, spreading wider now to his nose and ears. "Some strategist missed me. You did, didn't you?"His words slithered cunningly through the forest air. Rose moved aimlessly and restlessly within. Always perfidious when it came to Gabriel."There are other capable male wolves out there, ones who surpass your abilities all around, one wh

MADELINE'S POV I was still reeling. Everything had happened so fast. As the two Alphas left, everyone began to trickle out. Some scoffed, while others glanced at me with a newfound curiosity. The rumor about my subtle disrespect was already making rounds like dry, winter fire, twisting through both packs. My body aches for rest. I made my way towards the guest quarters, and a familiar shadow stood like a wall, waiting on the path. Louisiana, always the same, ready to mock me at any turn, asked with a profound derision. "What are you doing back here? Still can't get enough of Crescent Pack? Why are you back here as a damn diplomat?" I forced out a confident smile. Why don't you ask your Alpha? He still keeps crucial information from you, Luna?" She rolled her eyes dramatically and hissed. "The proposals about the new pack agreement are solid. It's a good plan, peace between Packs." I was thrown over the roof for a second. I wasn't expecting acknowledgement from anyone,

ALPHA GRITUS POVI paced the room continuously, like a caged beast. My mind was a battlefield, torn between rage and helplessness. The words kept replaying in my mind. "Godfather has been captured."Captured. I could see it all clearly—him bound and shackled, bleeding from the hands of Alpha Konan and Oceanwolf Pack bastards.Godfather wasn't the kind of man to beg. They would torture him, humiliate him, drag out every bit of useful information he had, I knew that much. He wasn't going to talk easily, but they would stretch him, until he would spill out every damn secret we had, jeopardizing our plan. The rage bristling within me, a force that made me want to reach out and strangle the life out of the world around me.Nurse Maude stepped in, moving with a gait that irritated me, like she could not see the storm brewing.I took deliberate steps towards her. She didn't flinch at the fury in my eyes when I locked it onto hers. She looked too calm, so calm. Instead, she spoke, straight to

ALPHA KONAN'S POVAs I neared my study, the scent of something familiar, innocent and sweet, struck me.Madeline. And she was a stark opposite what her scent represented. She just stood outside the door; tense, fidgety, her shoulders slouched. Even in the thin light, I saw the shimmer of unshed tears in her eyes.I breathed out slowly. I had expected this, this confrontation. I had given the instruction that no one allowed Madeline see godfather. And consider how stubborn she was, she would go see him.Seeing him would only reopen her wounds. Keeping her away was the only way to protect her."I heard you captured him... godfather," she said, her voice strained with frustration.I didn't reply. I reached for the study door and pushed it open. She followed, hot on my pursuit."I need to see him," she said as soon we were inside."No," came my reply. She paused, wide eyed, as if my response had struck her like a gavel striking judgement."Why not?" She retorted.I turned to face her full

  • Contracted Mate To Alpha Konan   CHAPTER NINETY SEVEN

ALPHA KONAN'S POV I took a look at Godfather's body, hung upright, his arms stretched above his head. His wrists and ankles were bound in thick, silver chains laced with painful shift serum. The serum was already working its magic as usual, keeping his wolf weak and on the edge of madness, but not enough to let him slip. I stepped closer and took in more of his sorry features. His head dropped forward, his chin, resting just above his chest. He was unconscious. Behind me, Kellan asked. "What do you want to do with him, Alpha?" I didn't take my eyes off the bastard. "Wake him up." Kellan got into action immediately and drove his balled fist hard into the godfather's stomach. A strangled grunt escaped from godfather's throat, his body jerking forward against the chains. His eyes opened slowly, and then realization struck. He struggled against the chains, but they held firm. He just winced, in pain. The serum had seeped deep into his system, making his every movement dr

Not that the silence was uncomfortable. Then, he turned his head to look at me, in a very soft way."Did this just happen?" He murmured more to himself. He let out a slow breath. "This is like a dream come true."I didn't know what to say. A part of me couldn't believe it either. Then, he shifted onto his side, facing me fully. "I have done grave things to you, things that scarred you. Forgiving me won't be easy, but I want to try, one step at a time, I will fix things. I will treat you rightly, the way I should have done from the start."I swallowed nothing, unsure on how to respond.
