Hello readers, this is my first update since a week ago. Moving from a city to another city can be really exhausting and I am yet to settle down. Once all these is over, I will continue my usual updates of three chapters per week. Till then, please bear with me....thank you đ
ALPHA KONAN'S POv Seated opposite Alpha Novare and his pack members, we listened intently as the pressing matter of pack security unfolded. We both proposed a plan to boost patrols both within and outside the pack borders, and it was met with unanimous agreement. Amidst nods of approval, the importance of emergency preparedness and first aid training for werewolves was discussed and underscored. With everyone coming to a consensus, the diplomatic meeting came to an end. "Konan," alpha Novare called. "We will be leaving your pack in two days, and for whatever discussed in this meeting to take effect from my end, your-whore-of-a-servant-girl needs to come with us." I bubbled with anger. I knew he was planning to poke on my pride and rile me up. "Need I help remind you that she goes nowhere with you? My decision is final Novare. There's nothing to discuss about that anymore. The only sole thing I can do for you is to give you another servant girl in replacement of Madeline. I w
ROSALINE'S POV This wasn't time to pretend selective amnesia. I remembered vividly the events that lead me to the pack hospital. The steady rhythm of the IV drop, the beeping of the heart monitor and the smell of anaesthetic and disinfectant added to my throbbing headache and churning stomach. I stood up from the bed and it was almost impossible to guide my steps. "Shit, this dizziness!!!" The door opened and my attending nurse came in. "You've regained consciousness miss Rosaline. How are you feeling," her face beaming with smiles. "How long have I been out," I interjected. "Uhm..." "If I am to be precise, you were out for a day and half," she replied. I rolled my eyes. "Hope you are feeling better," she asked once again which I found annoying. "You should know from my looks that I am far from being okay." "Alright. So I suggest you take more rest," the nurse replied. "I beg to differ. I might as well get worse or catch some nosocomial infection if I stay a t
GODFATHER'S POV "Nurse Maude, why would you carry out such expedition on Oceanwolf pack without anyone's consent?" She rolled her eyes. Really? I was seething with my barely contained rage. I don't take delight to being summoned by alpha Gritus without prior knowledge of Maude's actions. With her wrinkled middle aged face, she stood her ground, unwilling to answer me. "I believe I am talking to you Nurse Maude. Answer the god-damned question," I retorted almost losing my cool. "I don't have to answer to you. Do I ??" she replied rudely. "Bitch..." A clear of the throat interrupted me. There stood Braco, giving us both a questioning look. "Alpha Gritus is ready and waiting for you both in the grand hall." Beads of sweat broke on my forehead as we made way to the grand hall. There sat alpha Gritus in his usual seat, his look expressionless. "I remember telling you all to take a pause on everything to re-strategize. Now which one of you attacked Oceanwolf pack wi
ALPHA KONAN'S POV "You haven't fallen in love with Madeline, have you?" Rosaline asked with a questioning look on her face. My gaze snapped to Rosaline. "What is the reason you ask this question Rosaline?" "There's every reason for me to ask, Rosaline replied without missing a beat. Look at our pack borders. Alpha Novare indirectly threatens us each passing hour to withdraw their troops. We aren't too good with security right now. Letting emotions cloud your judgement could be disastrous." "For the umpteenth time Rosaline, Madeline is a servant who carelessly lost my baby. Nothing more." Rosaline arched her eyebrows. "You are strongly in denial alpha Konan. It is obvious to me that Madeline has ignited a fire in you and you are gradually growing fond of the fire. This isn't just about Crescent pack or her deeds. You definitely care for her." I let out a frustrated sigh. "Even if I do, it doesn't change what's she's done. She still broke the rules." "And yet, here we
MADELINEâS POV I was summoned to Alpha Konan's study. This time, I was unsure of what to expect. My heart pounded in my chest as I walked down the corridor leading to his imposing door. The air around me felt heavier with each step, and my palms were clammy with unease. The heavy door creaked open as I pushed it, revealing the grand study. Alpha Konan sat behind his imposing desk, his posture rigid and his expression unreadable, as usual. âWhich do you want to hear first, Madeline? The good news or the bad news?â His voice, calm yet cutting, carrying an undertone of menace. I hesitated, caught off guard. Why was I the one forced to choose? Couldnât he start with whichever he deemed fit? âMadeline,â he called again, his tone softer yet tinged with impatience. His penetrating gaze locked onto mine. âWhich do you wish to hearâthe good news or the bad news?â âThe good news, Alpha Konan,â I replied cautiously, my voice barely above a whisper. A flicker of amusement danced in his eyes
MADELINE'S POVThe private session with alpha Novare wasn't necessary. He used it as a way to feel alpha Konan's interest in me. Did it work? Yes it did.Alpha Novare escorted me out to the door of his room and there stood alpha Konan standing at the far end of the hall. Alpha Novare's face was plastered with a smug grin and he whispered to my ears."Your alpha is here. Keeping alpha Konan on his tippy toes has never felt so good."He closed the door behind me and I walked towards where the predator was standing, ready to devour."Follow me," he demanded.I followed him obediently to his study. He stood for a while backing me, his hands on his waistâakimbo. A little while later, he turned to me, his eyes, narrowed and bloodshot. The look in his eyes was one I hadn't seen in my entire life."Did he touch you," alpha Konan asked straight to the point.Goosebumps crawled on my skin."No he didn't," I replied softly."No he didn't," he questioned. His eyes blazed with fury that threatened
ROSALINE'S POV "Ohh shit!!!" I stumbled and fell on a hard rock body. I looked up to see who I just fell on, and it was Gabriel. "I bet you saw me coming," I replied. He scoffed. "And I bet you didn't realize that there was an obstacle on your path which made you stumble. I have been standing right here all the while. You were the one who hit me. An apology would suffice," he said I huffed. "Stalking me?" I asked. "You wish, don't you?" he replied sarcastically. "Then why do you always seem to be in my way," I questioned. "The last I check, your name wasn't imprinted on any passage way here," he answered with a light grin on his face. I knew this question and answer would continue for eternity. Gabriel had such time but I had no such time for that because I needed to see alpha Konan urgently. I ignored him and tried to make my way when Gabriel fully stopped me in my tracks. "Beta dear, I sneered. I would really appreciate if you would clear the way. I have somew
ALPHA KONAN'S POV Sleep was far from me. Madeline betrayed me, I muttered continuously, unconsciously. I buried myself with work. Morning was here and it was time for alpha Novare and his people to take their leave. I had to see them off because it was only customary I did so. Madeline yet wasn't in sight. She appeared from the other end of the mansion. My eyes was fixed on her as she made her way to join alpha Novare and the others. Her eyes was fixed on everything except me. She clearly avoided my gaze.Alpha Novare noticed and whispered to me."Tone your stare a little bit Konan. You could burn her with those laser eyes of yours."I scoffed."Your whore will be back like she never left. Chill out Konan, you won!!!" he grinned.I gritted my teeth at the sound of the word whore coming from his mouth. I knew he was indirectly trying to provoke me.I never moved my eyes from Madeline. The early morning breeze blew her silky hair about and her smooth skin glistened under the rising su
MADELINEâS POVIt was time. Time to return back to Oceanwolf pack. Three years had passed, yet it felt like as if i had spent a lifetime here.Memories of Oceanwolf pack came rushing back, and with them, it was a mix of emotions I couldnât quite name. Nostalgia. Fear. Anger. Courage. It was all tangled together in such a way that made my heart heavy. But I was no longer the same girl. The same naĂŻve, servant girl that everyone could trample on. I had grown past that. I had changed. I had molded myself into something stronger. But still, the thought of walking back to Oceanwolf pack made me tremble, leaving me with uncertainties, and there was one last chain I needed to break.Alpha Konan. He was my final prison, the one tie to the person I used to be. I donât know what would happen when I saw him again, but I did know one thing. I wasnât going back to serve him or anyone.I thought back my time here in Crescent pack. From the first day I came in, to the Stealth and Stalk training, th
MADELINEâS POVToday is Louisianaâs Luna ceremony. I wasnât surprised when I got a message from her, early in the morning. I wasnât eager to go, but ignoring her wasnât an option. Her room was bustling when I arrived. Servants swarmed around her, fixing every detail of her outfitâthe rose pink dress that hugged her in the right places, the heavy gold necklace on her neck, even the tiniest strand of her hair. Louisiana stood in front of the full-length mirror, soaking up the attention. She was born for it, anyway.âEveryone out,â she commanded suddenly. The maids stood, unsure if they heard her right, before scurrying out like frightened nice. I stood near the door, watching her, until the last servant left. Finally, she turned to me smirking.âWhat do you think?â she asked, gesturing to her dress.I glanced at the dress. It was beautiful, no doubt, but there was something about the way she asked that made it feel more than a question.âIt looksâŚnice,â I replied cautiously. Her laug
MADELINEâS POV The room grew eerily quiet. All eyes snapped to Louisiana, her voice cutting through the air with an unexpected force. âWhy donât we let her finish?â she snapped, her words sharp like a whip. âThe general pack meeting is about addressing grievances. I, too, have something to air.â I noticed the pack elders exchange quick, uneasy glances, their expressions tense. They hadnât expected this. Their faces were filled with a mixture of concern and annoyance. Alpha Novare, usually calm and collected, seemed confused, his eyes locked on Louisiana. I could see the questions running through his mind, but he was waiting. Louisiana, however, didnât flinch. She stood tall, her gaze sharp, as if she were daring anyone to challenge her. âI need to clear the air about something,â she began, her tone cold. âI know what people say about me. You all think Iâm a fake, donât you?â She let the words hang in the air, watching the packâs reaction. âThat Iâm not really Alpha Novareâs mat
MADELINEâS POV It was a chilly morning, and I stood at the edge of the pack training grounds, watching my breath turn into visible puffs in the cold air. I pulled my coat tighter around me, my thoughts random as I replayed the conversation Iâd had with Louisiana days ago. I had told her about Alpha Novare's ridiculous demands. She had been unusually quiet since then, which wasnât like her at all. But now, I needed her help. The plan I had in mind was simple but risky. Louisiana despised me, especially where Alpha Novare was concerned. If I could use her hatred to my advantage, I could get Novare off my back and maybeâjust maybeâset myself free. As I waited, Louisiana approached, her sharp features set in a scowl. âWhat do you want from me, Madeline? You want another fight you canât win?â she snapped, her tone dripping with irritation. âI need your help, Louisiana,â I said qu
"Louisiana of all people!!!" She was the last person I wanted to see showing up at my front door. But here she was, leaning casually against the frame like she had all the time in the world. For a moment, we just stood there, staring at each other in silence, both of us determined to hold our ground. Then, finally, she spoke. "Meet me at the pack training grounds, now!!!" My pulse kicked up a notch, her timing was suspicious. The last thing I wanted was her knowing that her presence made me uneasy. I swallowed back the urge to argue, but I wasn't going to let her get her away easily. "Why? It is late, and there's no reason for this," I replied. Louisiana chuckled dryly." I am your leader and your superior, she said gritting her teeth. Anything involving the warrior wolves is my business. And I will call anyone for training whenever I see fit." "Oh, wow!!!" I whispered under my breath. Arguing with her was pointless. "Fine," I replied with a reluctant shrug. She gave me on
MADELINE'S POV Maybe it was all manipulation sprinkled with his touch of mischievousness. Maybe it was one of his many tactics to drag me to the abyss. Maybe this was my form of punishment for prying into his private affairs. ".....What?" I whispered out in confusion. "Why what? You didn't hear me right?" he asked. "Listen and listen attentively. I will repeat myself again just once." "I like you Madeline." That was it. I wasn't mistaken. I heard right. I sat there, my heart hammering in my chest. My mind went for a spin. He likes me? "Cat got your tongue," alpha Novare asked casually, with a grin evident on his face. The tug of shock and amusement deepened on my face and it was damn obvious. I stared at him, trying so hard to guage his intentions. His expressions began to shift back to the cold authority I was accustomed to. The casual grin he had flashed moments ago had disappeared. It was like watching him reverting to the alpha Novare I knew, but I couldn't help but b
MADELINE'S POV Ever since my confrontation with Louisiana, I haven't seen her. But I could feel her anger hovering around like the storm cloud. I could feel the way the others looked at me, quick glances and whispers behind my back. No one spoke anything to me directly. The moment the words left my mouth, I knew there was no going back. I was in for shit and Louisiana would be out for my blood. "You really gave Louisiana a hit, Freya said. You were the only one who had the boldness of a lion to confront Louisiana concerning the rumors in such manner. You are totally different now. You have finally removed the cloak of naivety. Congratulations Madeline!!!, but don't get too comfortable." Just as I had thought to take a rest, a knock was heard at the door. Alpha Novare had summoned me. My heart leapt in terror, but I followed obediently. While on my way, I met madam Apricot. She stared at me squarely and her sharp eyes never missed a detail. She walked past me and I knew she was go
MADELINE'S POVI winced as Freya dabbed the wet antiseptic cloth against the wound on my arm. I could feel Freya's eyes on me, glancing up from time to time to where Louisiana sat at the far end of the camp with someone tending to her wounds."You got something on your mind," I asked Freya."Beat me, she exhaled. There's something different about Louisiana. What happened between you two?""Nothing," I replied her. I didn't want to talk about it or talk about the mission either. "Maybe she's still rattled from the fight," I added.Freya narrowed her eyes. "You are telling me, that Louisiana is rattled because of a fight? The same Louisiana who never misses a chance to remind us that's she's the toughest in the pack? Louisiana behaves like an asshole, but she isn't one to run away or be rattled because of a fight. You know you make a bad liar, don't you?"I didn't answer right away. I knew the words I said to Louisiana had struck a chord of reflection or better still, more intense hatre
MADELINE'S POV"They are coming. Our captors are coming," I whispered loudly."Shit!!" Louisiana huffed in frustration. The poison had seeped deep into our system and transforming to our wolf form could not be attainable. "What are we going to do," I asked softly but loud enough for Louisiana to hear."We have nothing to do than fight them off physically."The surrounding flickered with a faint light from a worn out, old lamp. The faint light exposed three bulky men, thrice our size with hardened expressions. They towered over us, clearly confident in their build. The odds were against us, but that didn't matter."Seems they broke free. Feisty, just the way I love my women to be, the lead captor sneered with his folded arms across his chest. Do you really think you can take us trio on?" he asked, his fingers pointing at the three of them."Why don't you come try," Louisiana dared.Fright overcame me. "Louisiana, I whispered into her ear. We are at odds here, so I suggest we talk it ou
