Contracted Hearts
Contracted Hearts
Author: Anne Blue

Prologue

“It looks like I will have to make the decision for you, considering that I introduced her to you,” Alex said as he looked at Ethan.

“We were happy, weren't we? This was supposed to be a contract marriage but then I felt my heart yearning for you and wanting to give you the best. Everyone was against this union, but I fought for you, but this is what I get in return right?” Ethan questioned with tears forming in his eyes

Everywhere was dead silence as the only thing I could hear was the beating of my own heart.

“I would ask you these questions one more time in the presence of Ethan, Isabella, my mum, and Ethan's mum” Alex began, staring deep into my eyes as though he wanted to control my thoughts and answer

“Did you or did you not have an affair outside your marriage?” he questioned. In that cold moment, my eyes met with Alex and I noticed the sly smile on his face

“I did,” I eventually responded, my eyes landing on Ethan's disappointed face. I didn't want to meet eyes with my mum, I didn't want to see the pain that came from within her.

“Are you or are you not carrying the child of that bastard and want to pin it on Ethan?” He asked again, all eyes piercing at me. From where I stood, I could feel the piercing from their gaze

Although my marriage to Ethan started as a business deal, I had unfortunately grown to love him and vice versa. Hurting him or losing his trust was what I never wanted to do, but here I was

I held my breath, my heart racing in my chest as Ethan's sad and disappointed face broke me into a thousand pieces, but I was willing to sacrifice myself and throw myself under the bus rather than let harm come to Ethan. This was the least I could do for him out of love.

Placed my hands on my tummy, asking the child growing inside me for mercy as I knew the child's life was already a living hell before birth because I was choosing the love I had for a man over the love I had for my child yet unborn.

“I am,and I wanted to.”
