72. Three's a Crowd

I squinted at the invitation. I was going through my mail when I spotted the envelope with Jonathan's name on it.

"It looks like he invited us to his birthday bash," I said.

Delilah's eyes lit up. "Are we going?"

"I don't know....you know how I feel about these events. I'd rather not go," I said.

Delilah's face fell. "But Sebastian! We never go anywhere. Why are you so antisocial? I'm so tired of being cooped up at home while you get to go to work. Don't you think about me at all?" she pouted.

Damn, I didn't think how bored Delilah must be. "Oh, sweetheart, I didn't mean you couldn't go. I'm just not a fan of social events. You are more than welcome to go," I said quickly. I regretted it instantly as I realized I had said the wrong thing. Delilah looked even angrier.

"So you want me to go alone? You won't even keep your wife company? Why Sebastian? Is it because I'm fat and ugly now, so you don't want to be seen with me?" she roared.
