Brooklyn-
When I had opened the door, I had not expected to find Alpha Tatum standing on the other side. It looked like he had just stepped out of the shower and gotten dressed. His short black hair was mussy and wet. The smell of strong liquor wafted towards me, and I had to do my best not to gag.
It wasn’t that the smell of alcohol bothered me, but it was what it did to those who drank it. In my experience, it was never a good sign when someone drank. I had countless run-ins with Chad over the years when he had drunk himself into a stupor. Not that I had ever done anything to provoke his beatings, but when he drank it was completely different.
Oddly I didn’t feel the fear that I was accustomed to when facing this Alpha after he had clearly been drinking. My curiosity as to why he was standing outside my door after midnight was piqued. I wasn’t sure if I should invite him in or not. I saw the way his gaze perused over me, no doubt seeing if my
Tatum-Really regretting asking her about her past right about now. Anger boiled inside me to the point I was ready to go back to that pack and teach them a lesson they would never forget. I knew I was going to regret asking my next question even more, but I needed to know.“What had happened for you to end up like that when I found you?”Those bright blue eyes of her rapidly dimmed at my question. I had just opened a can of worms and I wanted to kick myself. Hearing even the first little bit she had told me, I don’t know why I kept digging deeper. My vocal cords just had a mind of their own and when the questions started coming out, I did nothing to stop them.I was starting to understand her a lot more, even if I hated what she was telling me. The heaviness of her story was weighing down on me and I should have never even considered putting her in this contract. If it had just been she needed a place to stay, it wouldn’t have bee
Brooklyn-For the last three days, I didn’t venture outside of my own private area. No one bothered me and I haven’t seen or heard from Tate since the night I spilled my guts to him. He had given me an opening to tell him about the threat the guy gave me, but I decided it was probably water under the bridge. He had already seemed mad, I wasn’t wanting to add to his anger. These were his people. Besides, it wasn’t like I was hurt or anything. I had been a little surprised and a bit uneasy with his response before he left. It did make me feel a little better that maybe I wouldn’t have to worry so much here. Not that I was ready to just let down my guard any time soon. What caught me off guard the most, was that I had so easily opened up to him. It didn’t make a lick of sense to me. A weight had been lifted off my shoulders from unloading all that I did though. The only other person I had ever talked so openly with had been my da
Tatum-Pacing in the hall, I tried to calm myself. I had seen she was afraid of me, so I left. The more I learn about her, the more pissed I got. She had been not only abused but severely neglected. Being left in the care of a pack that should have protected her, looked out for her, made me question the judgment of who sent her there.I really wanted to get my hands on whoever had put her in Lunar Eclipse and wring their neck. If she hadn’t gotten out of there when she did, or if I hadn’t found her, would she have ended up like Leslie? I had a feeling that is exactly what would have happened.Running up the stairs, I made my way to the gym and went straight towards the punching bag. Needing to release my anger, I started hitting the bag as hard as I could. After punching a hole right in the middle after beating on it for a while, I was still no calmer. Even watching the sand drain from the bag, while it was satisfying, did nothing for me.Turn
Brooklyn- I was sure I pissed him off this time. Just because he hasn’t hit me, he still had the biggest temper I have ever seen. That was saying a lot too. Considering I had been surrounded by people that hated me to the max. Was I intentionally trying to test him or something, to see just how far I could push him? This hot and cold temper of his frustrating me to no end. I couldn’t figure him out and I spent all night trying. He had left in such a hurry last night without even finishing his food. Had I said the wrong thing? I mean one minute he was asking me how I felt and the next he was practically storming out of the place. It was five in the morning and while I didn’t want to deal with everyone, I knew I had no choice. It was part of the contract and I was obligated to follow it. Digging through the clothes I had, I couldn’t decide what to wear. There hasn’t been a time in my life that I could remember that I had so many options. Sifting through
Tatum-Turning around, I let my gaze travel up and down her body. Seeing her in my clothes, had me fighting the urge to throw her on my bed to ravish her fully. There was no way I could deny that she was stunning. Every inch of her, from the top of her head, that I now know smelled of cherry almond, down to her small and dainty feet.I was almost certain she has been untouched by any man, or at least I hoped so. I would hate to find out something far worse than what she has already told me, happened to her. Clenching my jaw, I didn’t move until I knew I could trust myself not to react and do exactly what I had in mind.Taking a few seconds longer than I wanted, I was finally able to approach her. She flinched slightly but stayed in place as I tugged on the bottom of the shirt, to tie it off to the side. Knowing that her response was from the way I handled her when we stood in her bedroom, it quelched my desire for her. Well, enough that I could be this clo
Brooklyn-It had been a little unnerving having Tate so close to me. I hadn’t known what his intentions were, and it had taken me a minute to understand what he was trying to do. As we moved, I started to feel surer of myself. Each thing he called out, he helped me with the movement. Some of the things he wasn’t able to help me in the same way, he would occasionally tell everyone to hold their position so he could correct my stance or where my limps needed to be.I tried to remember every movement and what they were called. I appreciated what Tate had done, but I felt like it put me at a disadvantage with everyone else.If it wasn’t for me, I am pretty sure that they would have been doing more advanced things.I was going to make it a daily routine that every chance I was able to, I would practice these moves in my room, or in private. The last thing I wanted to do, was to show everyone my incompetence. We continued training
Tatum-It was five after six in the morning and Brook still hadn’t shown up to training. Whatever her reason for being late was, it better be good. I had let her not attend training the first couple of days because she had been injured. Now there were no excuses. After yesterday’s performance, I was more insistent that she continues training. She could barely even throw a punch.I knew she wasn’t injured, weak maybe, but not injured. Her weakness didn’t even stem from her injuries. I was certain that after everything she had told me, she was just malnourished to the extreme. It really was no wonder her wolf hadn’t shown itself, she probably wouldn’t even survive her first shift. If she didn’t think she had anything to wear, well I had already seen to that yesterday and had dropped off a bag of clothes after dinner. She hadn’t answered the door, so I had left them hanging on the doorknob. I knew she got them since t
Brooklyn-Tate continued to help me with my form, each time my punching improved and I was soon able to throw a proper punch. The longer we worked on it, the better I started to feel. It felt good knowing that I could now throw a punch. It may not be much, but it was better than what I had known.“Let’s call it a day for now. We can work on your kicking tomorrow in class.”Now was my chance. I could see if maybe I could work on my own up here. I wasn’t going to tell him the real reason, but maybe I could convince him to let me train alone, at least until I approved.“I would like to train on my own.”“No, out of the question.”“I promise I will work hard every day, but I am only holding everyone back. It isn’t fair to them that they are being trained at my level.”I hadn’t wanted to use that reason, since it showed just how unskilled I really was, even though he a
