Leilani-
There was no way he was telling me the truth. Brook didn’t seem like she has led anything but a perfect life. In just the few minutes I was around her, she did nothing but smile and look happy.
Eric reached toward me and placed his finger under my jaw. When he pushed up, I realized my mouth had been wide open. Shaking my head, I blinked at him a few times, this time keeping my mouth closed.
He pulled his hand back, which kind of bugged me a little. I wasn’t sure why I cared if he touched me or not. I should be relieved he pulled back, except I wasn’t. Now I craved his touch, in a way I couldn’t begin to fathom.
“You have to be kidding me.” I blurted out when my mind returned to the subject at hand.
“’Fraid not darlin’. When Tate had found her, she had barely been alive. Some of her classmates had beaten her just seconds from her life. She has come a long way since then, but she was in a
Eric-After having a maid take all the stuff we brought back with us upstairs to Leilani, I rode my motorcycle to the store once more. Returning with a bedding set that matched her eyes, I had it sent up as well. Finding Tate, along with Brook in his office, I didn’t bother knocking. If the door had been closed, I would have undeniably knocked. I had discovered the hard way not to enter a room they were in if the door was closed. Let’s just say there are some things in this world I never wanted to see.“I was about to send a search party to go look for you.” Tate snickered when I plopped down on the sofa.“Yeah, sorry it took so long.” I groaned as I rubbed my hand over my face.Unexpectedly, I felt completely depleted. It was like the past twenty-four hours just hit me. I was both physically and mentally drained right now. On the plus side, I was also humming with exhilaration, from having a mate.“
Eric- It was an innocent question, yet it pissed the hell out of me that he even considered the possibility of me rejecting her. On the other note, he made a valid point. There were dive bars that we could get into and put our noses to the ground, but unless she has the rank to back her up, she would only get walked all over. As much as I hated it, there were a lot of wolves that looked down on anyone that they felt was less than their standing. Technically I wasn’t an Alpha, but even I had Alpha clearance in other packs and the other resources our kind had outside of our pack. A lot had to do with the fact I had Alpha blood, even as a Beta. “First, fuck you for thinking I would reject my mate.” I growled out the words while wondering if I knock my brother’s teeth down his throat. Even Desmond released a growl, which made my growl sound louder and more challenging. Brother or not, I had no problem kicking his ass for even suggesting it. At that moment, I felt a s
Leilani-Feeling utterly embarrassed, I stomped out of the room. If he thought that what I had done was so funny, then he can laugh about it alone. I had felt awful about what I had done, now he just made me feel worse.“Hey! Come back, it is funny!” Eric called after me as I made my way through the hallway.“Go to hell!” I yelled over my shoulder.I wasn’t sure why, but yelling at him as I just did, caused me to smile. I wasn’t even mad at him, more just embarrassed. No idea why I was now smiling at this now.It didn’t feel like an actual argument. Maybe it was because he was laughing, or something else. Whatever it was, had me smiling like a crazy person as I was yelling at him and cursing at him.“It is funny because I had done the exact same thing when I was younger, towels and all.” Eric’s words had me stopping dead in my tracks.“Seriously?” I asked, my inte
Eric-I was over the moon with Leilani agreeing to the contract. After talking to Tate, I let him, and Brook go to bed. I, however, couldn’t seem to get to sleep. It didn’t help that my mate, whom I was growing very attached to in just a short time, was just down the hall. Instead of tossing and turning, as I have been for the past hour, I quietly got out of bed. As quiet as I could, I left my room. When my eyes fell on her open door, my feet decided to walk towards her room. I suppose if I really wanted to, I could stop them, except I didn’t want to. Reaching her room, I peeked inside. Her curtains were open, allowing the waning moon to illuminate her room. She was laying on her side, with her body curled up and her face pointing towards the door. Her face kept crinkling occasionally as if she were having a bad dream. My wolf tried to urge me forward, so I could comfort her. As much as I would love to do so, I thought it best tha
Eric- “Hello?” A groggy voice came through the other end of the phone. “Hey Jason, I am sorry to be bothering you so late at night, but I just saw something I thought you needed to know.” I spoke on the phone. “Is Brook, okay? Is it the baby?” Jason blurted out, sounding more away than before. I should have known he would likely respond like this. I didn’t normally call him this late at night or much at all. Yeah, he and I have somewhat become friends, but not in the normal sense. He was Brook’s father and the Alpha King, which made it slightly uncomfortable around him at times. “She is fine. It is about the program we created.” I assured him. “Oh good, okay I am all ears. What is going on?” Jason let out an audible breath, that I was sure he was probably relieved I wasn’t calling about Brook. “Well, I had a kid fill out an application and when I went to the database to look him up, as well as his parents, his parents didn’t ex
Leilani-Stopping dead in my tracks, I nearly dropped the glass of water in my hand. I had thought Eric had left for the day. Seeing him walk in, caught me by surprise.“Oh, you’re back. Did you forget something?” I practically stumbled over my words. What was it about him that just looking at him right now has me all flustered? Maybe it was because I was still a bit off balance this morning from waking up in a strange place. It wasn’t that I wasn’t glad to be away from my old pack, it was just going to take some getting used to.“Nope. I just figured you might be hungry, so I brought you something to eat. Brook made it, which I think you will love. She is a great cook. It was probably the best thing about her when I first met her. Of course, it wasn’t, but damn she can cook.” As he rambled on about her, I felt a sting of jealousy run through me.There was no reason I should feel jealous of Brook, or
Leilani-It was nearly six o’clock at night when Eric woke up. By the time we got everything ready to go, it was just after seven. Eric explained we were taking his car, while a couple of warriors were taking another vehicle.I didn’t know much about vehicles, but I had never seen one like the one we were sitting in now. Eric seemed to buzz with excitement when the car started. Faster than expected, we drove out of the garage the car had been parked in.Now I understood the excitement Eric was exhibiting, I was beginning to feel it as well. When he had thrown it into gear and took off, I hadn’t prepared for the power the car had. It had been enough to press me against the seat.It was exhilarating and made my heart race with delight. He didn’t let up until we were past the gate and on the highway. When he slowed down to a legal speed, I almost wanted to tell him to go faster.“I love this car.” Eric mumbled, his
Eric-Walking into the hotel lobby with Leilani, I noticed that she seemed distracted by something. I wanted to ask her what was wrong, but I didn’t want the receptionist to over here anything. Stepping up to the desk, I gave the lady my name and told her I had reserved two rooms. The warriors I had following us, went on ahead to the next hotel. While waiting for the lady to look my reservation up, I pulled out my phone to read the text Tate sent me. Or rather the ten texts he sent me.Tate: How is it going?Tate: Have you guys stopped yet?Tate: Let me know when you guys make it to the hotel.Tate: Has she killed you yet?Tate: Everything okay?Tate: Damn it, man, answer me.Tate: Anything yet on the contract?Tate: You better get your ass back before Brooklyn goes into labor.Tate: Do I need to send a search party?Tate: I don’t care what time it is when you get to hotel, give me a call
I wanted to thank you all for your support over these months. I haven't decided if I am going to do another book in the Contract series, but I will be working on other books that I hope you all love. I have another book called Alpha Ryker that I will be focusing on this summer. It will be different than my typical stuff, but I am excited to write it. If you enjoy apocalyptic romance, I hope you will check out Alpha Ryker. Just like all my werewolf romance books, I try to bring a twist to them to make them different from the typical stories. The book has already started, and I will be focusing on that book next. Thank you again for all of your support. I would love to hear what you think of this book, so I may improve my writing. Best wishes, Raelyn Karson
Brooklyn- I couldn’t believe it. It has been five years since that fateful night with Mavis. Nearly six since when I first met my mate, Tate. Looking back on everything that has happened over the years, I couldn’t be more grateful for how far we have all come. When I first came to the Black Fang pack, I never would have imagined that I would be happy, with two daughters, a son on the way, a loving mate, a pack, and a family that I loved with all of my heart. Since the night with Mavis, the program I had created had taken off without a hitch. With Leilani’s help, we were able to track down everyone that needed our help and even find homes for everyone. We had to deal with a few trouble packs, but once again Black Fang banded together to take them on. Now my father was getting ready to step down as the Alpha King and he had named Eric as the new Alpha King. I couldn’t be happier for Eric, since I know he is going to be the best for the job. It helps that he has a kick-ass mate, who m
Leilani-Breaking the hex on the door, I walked in and saw the other half of my soul standing next to the bed. She gave me a soft smile, which looked both sad and knowing. Before I could say anything, she began speaking.“If we do this, there is no going back. If death comes to us, it will be forever. Are you sure you want to do this?” She asked.“You know this is our only chance. Even if we redo the cycle, it still won’t be enough. Spending as much time as I did with the other versions of me, they still didn’t reach their full potential. There is no guarantee that if I come back that I will find a way to defeat her. How long must we continue in this cycle if I need to become complete to defeat her?”I don’t know why I just didn’t agree to this from the start. Was it out of fear or something else? It didn’t really matter now though. I knew now that it was our only real chance of defeating her. Even if I died, I could hopefully bring Mavis down with me.“Very well, then we will live ou
Leilani-In absolute horror, I stood there as Archer moved toward me. I could feel it through our bond that he was going to attack me. It was in that instant I realized why Mavis kept looking over at him.“You need to fight it!” I yelled at Archer, pleading with him.It was foolish of me to think I could take on Mavis with extraordinarily little time to learn centuries of magic. I had played directly into her hand. Now she had somehow managed to take control of Archer. There was no way I could fight him. The last thing I wanted to do was kill him or even hurt him. I could tell he was struggling against the hold she had on him, but I was starting to feel that he was slipping away from me.“Fight!” I screamed at the top of my lungs. He didn’t respond, which I didn’t think he could at this point. I could feel our bond, but it felt wrong, tainted. Just then I felt Eric’s arms come around me and I was lifted off the ground.“You can’t reach him anymore. We need to get out of here.” He said
Leilani-“Are you ready?” I asked Archer, who was now in his dragon form.“I will follow you anywhere.” He spoke into my mind.Knowing I couldn’t push the time anymore, I transported Archer and I through the threshold that divided the two realities. I trusted Jarod to join us when he was ready, he had left to get Delilah and any other help he could. It wasn’t that I wasn’t confident I could take Mavis on now, but we all agreed we needed as much help as possible.“Release them.” I yelled out to Mavis. For the past ten minutes, I have been watching everything play out. It had taken everything I had not to just appear sooner. Just as Eric suggested though, I used every second I could until I could no longer wait.I was on the other side of the group of pack members, opposite the packhouse. I couldn’t let Mavis know what Archer looked like in his human form just in case this went south. Where we were now, it was the only area large enough, that was close to them, that allowed Archer to be
Eric-With everything I possessed, I had to try to keep Desmond at bay. He was ready to come out and rip out Mavis’s throat, for forcing herself on me and kissing me. I had been able to push her off, but she was trying to do it again. If I didn’t know that she would kill us if my wolf attacked her, I probably would have let him out. I didn’t stand a chance against a witch as powerful as Mavis, or any witch for that matter. Unlike Leilani, I wasn’t anything special like that.“I don’t care how much you try. I will never be with you.” I gritted out, doing my best to keep her lips from touching mine again.“You know I can force you right?” She whispered, just before I felt the slickness of her tongue as it ran along the base of my neck.It felt like pins and needles were being dragged across my skin. Just her touching me like this made me feel ill. I just hope that Leilani couldn’t see this and that she was once again in her meditation.I had hated leaving her as I had. Jarod had gotten
Leilani-“Come on, I know you are wanting to get this done, but you need to snap out of it.” I heard Archer’s voice in my mind.It wasn’t the first time he has tried to get me to come out of my trance, but I have been ignoring him. He was right, I was trying to get this done. I know I already missed the first six hour break I was supposed to do, but I was doing well right now.Unlike the first time I did this, I knew what I was doing now. I have learned so much more and I felt completely fine. If anything, I felt as if I was fully rested and full of energy.“Eric is here.” Archer’s words hit like a brick wall.Okay, I don’t know if he was just saying it to get me to come out of it, but whatever the case was, it worked. Snapping out of my state of mind, I looked around the room and Eric was indeed sitting on the couch. It almost seemed as if he were looking at me, but I knew he couldn’t be.“I was wondering when you were going to come out of it.” Eric’s voice was like music to my ears.
Leilani- I spent an hour looking for Jarod. Even going as far as trying a locator spell, I produced nothing. I didn’t think I did the spell wrong, since I tried again with Eric. I also had Archer leave to go to the field of flowers, so I could try on him as well. Jarod was the only one I couldn’t locate. It was as if he was wiped out of existence all together. Continuing to look around the house, I looked for a sign or something of what could have happened to him. The longer this took, the more valuable time I was losing. “I found something.” Archer said from across the room. Moving to his side, he handed me a folded piece of paper with my name on it. Opening the paper, I noticed it was a note from Jarod. Hoping it would tell me where he was, I began to read the letter aloud. “I am guessing if you found this letter, then I was trapped inside the room. If that is the case, I am going to need you to let me out. I have cracked the code on the hex, but I have a suspicion that I am not
Leilani-I wasn’t ready yet. She couldn’t be here already, there was still so much I needed to learn first. I thought I had more time.“That was quite the show. I especially enjoyed watching you two fucking like bunnies in there. I find it exciting to know that my dear sister might be carrying your child and once again I will be taking away her hopes of a family. It is perfect really, considering that it all started this way.” Mavis laughed as she continued to clap.Petrified by her being here, all I could think about was everyone else that could be in danger now. I had hoped I would be able to face her alone, because she could seriously hurt or even kill everyone else that tried anything against her. What if someone walked out and saw her? They might get it in their mind to attack. Then there was Archer, who might decide to show her who he was and then he might be in worse danger than he should be. This was not good at all.At hearing her words, I wondered if it was possible if my ac
