Chapter Three

2024-10-29 19:42:56Next day, I started thinking on how I would live my life, thinking on so many ways, I thought of engaging in business but if I should, I need some money to start. So I need to work to save some money.
I started looking for work but no one is interested in employing me because of my condition.After two days, I saw an uncompleted building which work is going on there so I slept over night till next day.
I talked with the engineer and he promised to employ me if I can work.I worked there for seven days and after seven days, I couldn't cope again so I ran away and started new business with the little money with me.
I started a petty job at market, selling pure water at the near by market, I'm also helping people carry loads after buying from Market to their car or house.After doing all this in day, I slept at the front of a shop beside a market.I started thinking and worried about how to take care of my unborn baby and at least rent an apartment.So I started saving among the little am earning after using little among it for consumption.
One evening, after I finished my daily job, I went to the front of the shop to take a rest, that day was an amazing day for me because I earn alot of money more than usual.I started planning to rent an apartment and keep the rest for my baby.The shop owner stayed long at the shop so I slept so late.Immediately the shop owner left, I quickly arrange the benches and planks and package my self inside it to take a rest.After some minutes I noticed that I was feeling cold, I stand up to see what could have happen.And surprisingly, I don't see any beach or planks which I used to cover myself up again.
"Was that a dream?Who could have taken the bench " I started soliloquising.Suddenly, I saw three street boys turning back to me without saying a word.I started packing my belongings and preparing to run."If you want to lose your life, You can take a step" said by the street guy!.
I don't bother to run again so I started begging them and asking them what they want.One of them moved closer to me and started touching my bodies.I closed my eyes with tears and started praying to God to deliver me from their hand.Thank God for answering my prayers. One of the guys noticed that I was pregnant so they ask them to pardon me.But they ; collected all my money from me and left
"Take care of the baby in you, it is the one to deliver to you from poverty and made you a woman". said by one of the street guys.I was so surprised about their words but I think they were drunk.
Second day after the incident, I started thinking of where to start from, Especially on how to take care of my unborn baby but I don't know the way out.I started looking for a job and I'm lucky to have seen one at the restaurant.
I was employed to wash dishes and to sweep the floor.I did this for two weeks and after two weeks, I noticed some strange things in my body, I couldn't eat or drink.I'm really tired but no one to look after me so I went to nearby pharmacy to complain and drugs was prescribed for me.AImost all my money was used for drugs.Since I believe that if there is life, Hope it is certain. I couldn't go to work for three days.
After using the drug, I started feeling relieved.I went back to the restaurant after three days but I was sent away because another people has been employed.I broke down into an uncontrollable tears.I am thinking about the next thing but I don't know what else to do.
I stayed beside one tree to relax and i slept off after some minutes, suddenly, heavy rain started falling. The rain was so heavy and everyone was running to their various houses. But I don't want to run because I have no direction to go and I can't go to the shop because the owner would still be there.
I keep on going inside the rain without knowing the actual place I am going but hoping on God, after some hours in rain, I couldn't move again, I'm feeling some pain in my body, I noticed that blood is coming out from my body.
I cried but no one to wipe my tears, my clothes turned into blood so I sat down on the road shouting for help. After a lot of tears and pain, one man stayed beside me and quickly rush me to the hospital. The nurse quickly attended to me and after thirty minutes, I gave birth. It was a very beautiful girl! . the baby was given to me and I broke down into tears. I give the baby a name "Destiny". Doctor asked for my husband or relatives to look after me and to pay the hospital bill.
I explained to him that I have no one, but he was really annoyed and promised not to discharge me until I pay the hospital bill. The hospital management later arranged little money for me, to buy some clothes for my baby and to take care of myself, after I promised to work for them in return. I help them in cleaning the hospital and to take care of the surroundings.
I did that for a good nine month before I was finally discharged from the hospital. The doctor gave me additional money to set up a business after leaving the hospital. I was so surprised and gave thanks to God. I rent one apartment with the money.

After three days, thugs came into our compound caring stick as weapon, they tried to past eviction notice on the door of the tenant, they proceeded to throw away my loads and belongings and started beating me with the sticks in their hands, thank God that Destiny isn't around that day.I cried and asked for help but my cries we're wasted because none of the other tenants were around because it was on Saturday. God used the policemen as my helper that day, one of the policemen in our area was passing by and came to my rescue that day."Who sent you to remove this woman's loads?" asked the policeman."We are sent by the lawyer, he told us that this lady has been sent away but she refused to leave" reply by the leaders of the thugs.The policeman was so angry and requested for the lawyer including the landlord's children and the matter was settled. The debate finally came, there were thirty states and all the states that partake were invited. Destiny stood on the podium in all her glory, she was very neat and beautiful, her long hair was neatly maid and smelling well. Her white shirt was well looked and attractive, her white socks and shoes were well polished. She held her notebook and pen in her hand. They were asked to take their seat while the moderator gave the instructions. "Today's competition is between thirty states that register for the debate. Our topic for today is "Should a rapist abusers go unpunished?" The state will be sub divided into two, which would involve fifteen candidates each, fifteen candidates are to support and fifteen candidates are to against. After all representatives were participated we are going to fix out the winner which will be a single person from each side. After fixing them out, then, the two sides will compete
