Chapter Twenty-Eight

At least he would watch over the company to monitor any unusual threat.

"Come on throw the ball. Don't be a boring boyfriend." Kacie yelled from the other end of the pool.

I smiled, tossing the beach ball in my hand. "You want it, come get it," I teased, knowing she'd take the bait.

Kacie splashed into the water, swimming towards me with a determined look on her face. I chuckled, waiting for her to reach me. As she approached, I tossed the ball high into the air, and she leapt out of the water, catching it with a triumphant grin.

"You're so competitive," I said, laughing, as she swam back to me, ball in hand.

"It's because I always want to win," she said, her eyes sparkling with mischief.

I pulled her close, our bodies touching in the cool water. "You've already won me over, Kacie. You don't need to compete for my attention."

She blushed, looking away, but I could see the happiness in her eyes. We spent the rest of the day lounging by the pool, enjoying each other's comp
