Damon had said it was an invite-only party, so I wasn’t expecting that much of a crowd. However, Damon had failed to tell me just how many people his family knew.

“I thought it would be a small party,” I murmured to Damon, my hand holding onto his upper arm firmly. I didn’t want to lose him because he was the only one I knew at the party.

“It is small.”

Small? There were over two hundred elegantly dressed people at this party. I was putting on a black floor-length dress with a slit that ended in the middle thigh. It had spaghetti straps with a v-neckline. While I was used to such dresses, it had been a while since I wore any. I ran away from my rich lifestyle at home only to meet another one in the form of Damon.

He wasn’t the type to show off but he also wasn’t the type to act like he wasn’t rich. He liked spending his money on me.

“It’s just a casual gathering for people to form new connections in the business world.”
