“Dude, rather than standing her staring at her from afar, go and talk to her. Buy her a drink. Ask her if she wants a passionate night of lovemaking,” my buddy Carlos said.
“Lovemaking? Really?” I laughed, “And no. I am not interested in Miss Winters anyway. Plus, she works for the company,” I added.
“They all sound like excuses to me,” He replied,” And you don’t want her? Bullshit! Most men will want her, and you have spent most of the night perving on her,” He added, laughing.
“You imagine things, buddy,” I said, “There are strict policies and rules on this kind of thing,” I added.
It was true. There were policies against someone at my level fraternising with anyone who works for the company. They are put in place to keep everyone safe and away from legal issues.
“Who needs to know?” He smirked.
“I would,” I said.
Carlos rolled his eyes at me, laughing. He then got a look on his face that I didn’t like. He was up to something. He grabbed his drink and started making his way over to the table where Aubrey and her friends were. What the hell is he doing? My other two friends soon followed him. Great! Now I need to go over because I don’t want to sit alone. I downed the last of my drink and went to join them.
“Welcome to the mad table, Mr Hunter,” One of Aubrey’s friends laughed, “I am Dulcie, and this is Mia,” She added.
“Ladies,” I said with a slight nod.
“Nice to officially meet you, Gabe,” Mia smiled.
“You too,” I said.
Aubrey hadn’t even acknowledged me as of yet. And she says I am rude?
“I have a question, why do you two seem to dislike one and another,” Dulcie asked, looking between Aubrey and me.
“I don’t have an issue with Aubrey,” I said, “Aubrey seems to have the issue with me,” I added.
“And why is that?” Carlos asked, looking at her.
“Because he is rude and arrogant,” Aubrey stated.
I laughed when she said that. Those are always the words she seems to use to describe me.
“Yes, but he isn’t a bad guy,” Carlos said.
“If you say so,” Aubrey laughed.
“I do. I always got my buddies back,” Carlos said, patting my shoulder.
“I have only met him a few times, and each one. He acted the same way, “Aubrey said matter-of-factly.
Aubrey has met me more times than she thinks. That is a story for another day, though.
“You haven’t exactly been the nicest either,” I say.
“That is because I don’t put up with your bullshit!” She said, rolling her eyes.
“I don’t want you to put up with my bullshit, but you work for my families company, and you need to learn to respect me,” I said, getting annoyed.
“I respect the company, the work you all do, your family, even you, and I love my job, but that doesn’t mean I need to like you,” Aubrey replied, “I don’t need this shit, not when I am off the clock,” She added.
Aubrey didn’t give anyone a chance to say anything before she walked away, heading back to the bar.
“Is she always like that?” I asked her friends.
“Nope, just with you, “Mia shrugged.
“I feel so privileged,” I said sarcastically.
I don’t know how I am going to deal with working so closely with her. I could get her removed from the project, but that would be a stupid idea. Aubrey was one of the best at what she does; removing her from the project would not be a good move for the company. I will just have to get used to her smart mouth and terrible attitude. At least there will not be a dull moment.
“I should go after her,” I sighed.
“I don’t know if that would be the best idea, Gabe,” Dulcie says.
“Probably not, but I don’t want to ruin her night,”
I head off before anyone could stop me. It probably wasn’t the best idea, but what is the worst that can happen? I look around for her, spotting her at the bar. She wasn’t alone. There were two guys with her, chatting her up, but she didn’t look interested. If anything, she looked annoyed. I watch in amusement for a moment, but the amusement soon disappeared when one of them tried to get handsy with her, and she looked uncomfortable, and that is not ever OK! I hate men like that, it gives the rest of us a bad name, and we aren’t all like that.
I made my way over to where she was.
“I think it is time for both of you to leave her alone. She isn’t interested,” I said firmly.
I wasn’t backing down. I don’t care that there was two of them.
“Who the fuck are you?” One of them slurred at me.
“None of your damn business, but if you don’t leave right now, I will make you my business,” I replied, “Now, back the fuck off,” I added.
They hesitated for a moment before cursing me out and walking away.
“Are you OK?” I asked.
“Yeah, thanks, though,” She smiles.
“No need for thanks. I hate guys like that,” I said.
“Me too! Can I buy you a drink? My way of saying thanks?” She asks.
I smiled and nodded. We were playing nice, for now, so I will take it. She grabbed the attention of the bartender and ordered two Scotch’s, neat. I liked a woman who drank Scotch.
“Here you go,” She smiles, handing me one.
“Thanks,” I reply, taking it from her.
Suddenly silence came between us, things getting a little awkward.
“We should head back,” Aubrey says, beginning to head back to the table.
Hmm, that was fun while it lasted. I sigh, following. It was probably for the best that we were in a group because the last thing I need was someone to see me alone with someone who works for our company. That wouldn’t go down well even if it were all innocent.
“You two survived being alone. That’s a good sign,” Dulcie laughed.
“Time will tell,” Aubrey giggles.
“You will learn to like me. I can be charming when I need to be,” I smirked.
Aubrey cocked her brow at me, shaking her head and laughing before turning away from me.

“I need to go home,” Aubrey slurred, “I have work at twelve,” She added, looking at her friends.
It was getting late, and the girls have had a bit much to drink. I was still sober. I am not one for getting wasted often. Plus, I had too much to do to spent my time hungover. I wasn’t going into the office until Monday, but I still had some prepping to do before then. I don’t even know why I agreed to take this project on. Well, I do. My sister convinced me to help because one of her friends is one of its founders, and she wanted the best. It had been a while since I have work on a project like this. I don’t get to do much of this since I become the CEO. I have all the right degrees behind me to do it, though.
I know most people believe I got everything handed to me, but that wasn’t the case. I had to work my ass off to get here, the same as my siblings. Our parents made us work for it all, just the same way they had to start from the bottom and work their way up. It took them over thirty years to get where they are now.
“Come on, stay a little longer,” Mia pouts at her.
“No, home for me. Taxi for me,” Aubrey responds.
It would seem everyone was staying out a little longer. I was ready for home too.
“I will take you home, Aubrey. I can have a car here soon,” I suggest.
“OK, thanks,” She smiles.
I text my driver. I have two drivers, one who works days and another who works nights if I need them. I know that makes me sound like an entitled fuck, but my parents have always insisted on it for some reason, us not using public transport, including taxis. I have never understood why.
I grabbed my phone, texting my driver, who replied to say he would be here in ten minutes. I helped Aubrey get her coat on, making sure she had everything. We said goodbye to everyone, and I led us out to wait for the car. I slipped my arm around her to steady her. She was going to regret this in the morning.
“This does not get spoken off come Monday, OK?” She said firmly.
“We shall not speak of it again,” I laugh.
The car pulled up, and I helped her in. I got her address from her, and we got on our way to hers. The moment she sat down, she fell asleep. I left her sleeping until we pulled up outside.
“Aubrey, we are here,” I say, shaking her gently.
“Hmm, OK,” She said, wakening up.
I offered to walk her in, but she refused to let me do that, telling me she would manage independently.
“Goodnight, boss man,” She laughs loudly before staggering into her apartment building.
I chuckled, shaking my head. I hope she doesn’t get too embarrassed when I see her on Sunday for the video meeting or Monday morning in the office. I am sure by then that things will be back to normal.
Aubrey I regretted drinking so much last night because now I have to go to work, and I feel like shit! Why did I let myself get in such a state? I don’t know how I will face Gabe at this video call on Sunday, not after last night. I should not have got as wasted, not in front of him. I was dancing on tables and everything, and then he had to take my drunken ass home. How embarrassing for me.I had my shades on to hide my eyes as I walked into work, an extra-strong coffee in my hand. It was my third coffee thus far, and I took painkillers, so hopefully, the hangover will ease within the next couple of hours. I said hello to everyone, heading straight for my office.“You looked like you had a good night,” Darren said, coming into my office.“I am regretting it now,” I groan, resting my head on the table.“Well, sweetie, you bet
Gabe I was frustrated by the end of the meeting. Why? Because of Aubrey. I saw the eyes rolls and the annoyance on her face when I said certain things. Yes, we discussed work in the meeting, everyone seems to know what they are doing, including Aubrey, but her attitude sucks! I could get her ass fired if she wasn’t so damn good.“I think that will do for today,” I said.Everyone nodded and started gathering their things.“Except you, Aubrey, I need a word,” I said, looking at her.“Yes, Sir,” Aubrey replies.Kay and Darren headed out, leaving us to talk.“I would appreciate if you dropped the attitude, Miss Winters,” I said firmly, “If you weren’t as good at your job, I would get your ass fired,” I added.“Yes, I am good a
Aubrey It was Monday morning, and I was heading into work, coffee in hand. I knew I had a busy day ahead of me. I wasn’t dreading it as much as I was on Friday because my time spent with Gabe at the gym has made me relax. We even grabbed a coffee after it. It was strange the two of us getting along. I am not sure how it will be at work, though.I was ignoring how tired I was. That is what happens when I need to get up at five a.m. and only fell asleep about one. Plenty of caffeine, and I will be fine. I headed to my office to drop my things off before heading to the conference room where we were meeting this morning.I grabbed my iPad and phone and headed through. I was the first one there, which surprised me. I thought Gabe or Kay would already have been here. I took a seat, sipping my coffee and waited for the others to arrive.Suddenly the door opens and in walks Gabe. He
Gabe “I think it is time to call it a day. You have all worked hard today,” I announce. It was eight p.m., and I had been working them hard but making sure they had breaks in between. I don’t think I have ever seen people move as quickly as Kay and Darren were moving. Aubrey didn’t seem to be in such a rush.“I will see you all tomorrow, just your usual starting time,” I said, “We made a good start today,” I add.Kay and Darren said goodbye to us, heading out. Aubrey was still typing away on her laptop.“Aubrey, it is time to go home,” I said. She didn’t look up at me; instead, she held her hand up, stating she would be one minute. I don’t even know what she was doing. I waited a minute, and that soon turned to five, and then ten. I was getting impatient. I wanted home.
Aubrey My time with Gabe had been going well until now. We were in the middle of a conversation, and he decided he would rather perv on some woman who just walked in. I shouldn’t be surprised. I hate when people do that. I don’t care who he flirts with, who he does anything with, but it pisses me off that he was so damn rude! The woman seemed to be enjoying his attention. I shook my head, going into my purse and setting money down on the table. I grabbed my things, and stood up, and walked out the door without saying a word. I don’t need to sit there and get ignored.I was trying to hail a cab which wasn’t going so good for me.“Aubrey, what the hell?” I hear from behind me.I roll my eyes and refuse to turn around. Gabe didn’t like it. He came up behind me, turning me around to face him.“Can
Gabe I have been unusually distracted today, especially after Aubrey’s little act this morning about if she wants me, she would have had me. I wanted badly to tell her that she has already had me, but I decided not to, not right now anyway. I hope she works it out herself, but I am not sure if she will. It was years ago, and I looked very different from what I do now.But back to right now. Aubrey has stolen a lot of my attention today, and I don’t even think she realises. I found myself thinking back to the night we spent together, the way her lips felt, the way her body felt below mine. I was having thoughts I shouldn’t be because things were different now.It was one night we spent together. We only exchanged first names. We didn’t give each other any more than that: no phone number, no way to contact each other. One night of hot, passionate sex and the following day, s
Aubrey Gabe and I staggered into his house, both drunk and laughing. The plan for one drink didn’t stick. I had lost count of how many drinks we have had, but the drink has relaxed us. We were getting along great. There had been a lot of talking, laughing and even a little flirting in the last few hours we have been together. I know the flirting shouldn’t be happening, but drink makes you lose common sense if you have enough.“Drink?” He asks.“Yes, please, one more, and that is enough,” I giggle.“If you insist,” He chuckles. He heads off to grab us both a drink. I look around, and my eyes fall on a music station. Yes, music is good. I went over, working out how to put it on and found a song that I could dance to. Yes, I wanted to dance. I always want to dance when I have been drinking.I dan
Gabe It didn’t take long until we were both completely naked. I forgot how sexy she was, even sexier now than she was back then. The kissing between us becomes heated and quickly. I was desperate to get inside of her again, feel her wrapped around me once again.I let my lips wander her entire body, taking in the feel of her skin, her scent once again. Aubrey moaned below, arching into my touch. I run my lips to her breasts, sucking and kissing on each one before continuing down. I made sure to explore anywhere I could reach.“Gabe, please, I need a release,” She begs.“Patience,” I said firmly, slapping her thigh.Aubrey cries out. I think she liked that. If I remember correctly, she likes it a little rough.“Mmm, yes, Sir,” She pants out.She also isn’t afraid to tell or
*** Three Years Later *** Aubrey “Ahh, I can’t believe it. We are officially in business.” I squeal excitedly as I look around. The workers had done a fantastic job! All the desks were in one large open area so everyone could work in the same space. Gabe and I had our office. We had a food bar set up with everything from cereal to candy, plenty of drinks, and there will be fresh food every single day. We wanted to make a space where everyone would be comfortable. Our staff will consist of forty people in total. I couldn’t wait to get started. The place is decorated with blue and white. It was modern in style. It is everything we pictured it to be. Ga
Gabe “Will you please tell me where we are going? You can’t ask a girl to dress up, take her in the car somewhere and not tell her.” Aubrey huffs from next to me. “No, you will find out soon enough. It doesn’t matter how many times you ask. I am not going to tell you.” I reply firmly. “Fine!” she groans. I laugh and shake my head. The woman had no patience. I know once she realises my plan, she will forgive me. I had a special night planned for us. I enjoy spoiling my stunning fiancée. I am still trying to get used to calling Aubrey that, but we have only been engaged a week. I was eager to make my wife, but we didn’t want to hurry things. “We are here.” I smile, finding a parking spot. Aubrey looks around, a confused look on her face. “Why are we at a hotel?” she asked, c
Aubrey “Marry me, Aubrey….”Wait, did I hear him right? Did he just ask me to marry him? I stilled and lifted my head to look at him.“What? Did I hear you right?” I asked, surprised.“Yes. Marry me?” he repeated.Oh My God, I did hear him right. I stood there, just staring at him. I needed a moment to process his words. Where did that come from? I was not expecting it.“Are you being serious?” I stammered out.“Yes. I love you, and I know in my heart you are the one for me. I don’t ever want to be with anyone else, only you, my love….” He trailed off, the nervousness evident in his voice.I love him too, with everything I have in me. I was ready to spend the rest of my life with him, bu
Gabe Aubrey and I had just arrived at the launch party in the limo.“Are you ready for this, my love?” I asked, looking at her.“As ready as I can be.” She smiled.I nodded and kissed her softly. She looked stunning tonight, and a part of me couldn’t wait to show her off to everyone. The limo door opened, and I stepped out first. The place was swimming with the pressed guests walking in, stopping for photos. The place was crazy. I knew it would be a big deal tonight. I just didn’t realise how much of a big deal.I turned around, offered Aubrey my hand. She smiled widely at me, took it, and I helped her out of the car. The moment she saw what awaited outside, she was like a deer in the headlights. She wasn’t used to all of this, not to this extent.“I am right
Aubrey I had dragged Gabe out shopping with me. I was supposed to go with a friend, but she was sick, so I decided that Gabe would take her place, much to his dismay. I was looking for a dress for the launch party next week. Gabe had his outfit, and it took him like ten minutes to find it online. By doing that, he believed he would get out of shopping altogether, but that didn’t go as planned for him.“Please don’t take all day, my love,” he pouted.“I won’t, promise, then maybe we can stop by the lingerie shop,” I smirked.“Mmm, yes, please…” he groaned.I would say that was a good compromise. I knew he would like that idea.“But there is a catch to it,” I smirked, “You can’t complain again about going shopping with me, or
Gabe Aubrey and I have been living together for a couple of weeks now, and it is going great! I love having her there, and I have been happy non-stop since she did.I was at Aubrey’s work today for us all to finish off the project for MV. They were pleased with everything and had won the bid to advertise for them. We only had a couple of minor things left before it went live. It was going to be incredible. I am proud of the team; with us all working together, it had turned out perfectly. Everyone was happy, which was the main thing.I was currently heading into the break room to get a coffee. I noticed a few women who work with the company, but they didn’t notice me coming in.“I still think that is how Aubrey got to work on the project because she is screwing the CEO,” one said.I can’t remember h
Aubrey I was eagerly waiting for Gabe to get back. He should be here soon. I had missed him these last few days. As I thought about him, I heard the front door open.“Hey, sweetness, where you at?” he called out.I grinned to myself, got up from the sofa and went to greet him. He smiled brightly when he saw me approach him. The second I was within arm’s reach, he grabbed me and pulled me to him, kissing me passionately. I moaned, slipped my arms around and kissed him back. He held me tight to his body.We parted after a minute.“I missed you, my love,”“I missed you too,” I replied and kissed him again. He didn’t seem to mind. I missed not only him but his kisses and bedtime cuddles. When we stopped kissing, he pulled me to his chest and h
Gabe I woke with a pounding headache and the hangover from hell! We got back to the hotel at six a.m., and most of last night was a blur. I checked my phone and saw I had called Aubrey in the early hours. It took me a moment, but then I remembered why I called her and that I told her I would call her first thing.I hit the call button on her name. I wasn’t sure if she would answer because I knew she had plans with her friends today, but I wasn’t sure of the time she was leaving. It rang only a couple of times, and then she answered.“Good morning, love. Are you rough?” she giggled.“Morning, sweetheart. Yes, very,” I groaned.“Aww, my poor baby,” she teased.“Come and look after me,”“Nope! No one to blame but yourself, s
Aubrey Gabe was away for the weekend with a few of his friends for one of their bachelor parties. The wedding was in a couple of weeks, and he asked me to go as his date, to which I agreed. I had plans with my girls tomorrow. We were going for a spa day which I was looking forward to because it has been a busy week.As for Gabe and me, we were keeping it on the down-low for now, well, to the people at work anyway. It is none of their business. The most important people know, and I am sure the time will come everyone at work will find out. But I don’t care. The fact doesn’t even bother me now. What is the worst that can happen? They judge. What is new in this day and age? I have another job to go to if I need to. My personal life has nothing to do with anyone.I was currently in bed, reading. Yes, it sounds boring for a Friday night, but I enjoyed it. I had
