Chapter 24

Seraphina paced back and forth in her room, her mind racing with thoughts. “What if my dad finds out about us? What will I do?” she felt trapped, unsure of how to escape the dilemma.

Then her phone rang. It was Ava. She picked up the call, and Ava immediately asked, “Sera, have you found out the truth?”

Seraphina started shedding tears, unable to form words. Sensing her pain, Ava said, “I’m coming there right away. We can’t discuss this on the phone.”

Seraphina kept crying, unable to stop thinking about the whole situation. She heard a knock on her door and wiped her tears immediately. Her mom entered, asking about her day.

“Mom, everything went well; we’re still preparing for our final exam,” she forced a smile, hiding her emotional turmoil. She did not want her mom to know that she had cried.
