Chapter - 9

Luis's POV

'Friends? Are you out of your mind? Do you want to be friends with your mate? seriously.....'

I heard my wolf growl in frustration. He was right. It was so stupid of me agreeing to be just friends and nothing more. Being her mate, it hurts to see her move away from me, Isn't friends better than nothing?

'Get it together Luis! Mark her! claim her as yours! what's stopping you? she's yours after all!'

I sighed after hearing my wolf again 'It isn't that easy. I don't want to force her and do things without being loved'

'Love? You think she'll love you?'

I shook my head looking at the 5th floor's window 'Im not sure' I smiled when the lights went off 'But.....I'll try my best to stay beside her and make her happy'

After saying this, I didn't hear my wolf, maybe he's angry, upset and also sensitive right now for not claiming our mate but looking at her....I didn't want to be an alpha whom she hates instead, the one whom she loves and can't live without.

I took a deep breath, feeling the coldness around me.

Sitting on a lonely bench in front of her house, smiling like a lost man, looking at that dark window, remembering her beautiful face and those pearl like tears....all I wanted was to promise something to myself.

To promise not to make her cry. To promise to make her smile

George's POV

I turned towards the old man who was staring at the empty streets.

we both were standing at the balcony of Aery's room, She fell asleep as soon as we laid her on the bed.

"Err...Old man" I broke the silence between us "Why did you say that? What do you mean by.....she shouldn't be alive?"

I heard nothing but a deep sigh, he kept staring at the empty streets "Old man..." I called

"She's an omega" Finally he spoke "Just like her mother"

"I know she's an omega.....But.....why did you say..."

"She's the most weakest omega among the all other ranks. Just like my wife Grace" I could see a faint smile on the old man's face "She was so beautiful. Everyone in the town was jealous of her beautiful, they were jealous of me to have the most beautiful omega as my mate but...You know...everything can't be perfect, there's definitely some or the other pause in life that will make a huge turn" He caressed the ring on his finger "She was an omega....An omega who can never be marked"

hearing him, I was surprised. What is this man saying? omega who can't be marked?

"I know your wondering if it's possible or not but....trust me...I'm the witness standing right in front of you" He turned towards me "My daughter Aery. She's just like her mom. Everything about Aery....reminds me of my wife... specially....her omega eyes. It's glitters purplish whenever she's happy" The old man looking at Aery who was sleeping "I know I'm not worth to be called as a dad but.....I was scared. I was scared that my daughter would turnout to be like her mother. Fragile, innocent, weak......I was scared"

I gulped looking at Aery. I'm not sure what this man mean but...Why can't Aery's mother be marked....I mean...why?

"I never marked my wife before, we did marry, we did accept each other as our mates but I never marked her" He said lowering his head "But when she was conceived with my son, she was weak....very weak....the doctor said she wouldn't make it. Both of them wouldn't. So.....I had to choose. Loose both or save one..." he grabbed my hand "I choose my son. I didn't want to loose both..." He said as tears rolled down his eyes "I marked her"

my eyes widened. Aery's mother died because her mate marked her? what in the world is even....

"Son" I looked at the man holding my hands "Please don't hurt her. I'm not sure what's going on but....She's not like other omega you could treat...she's very fragile. She's weak. I know she's your mate but....Please don't do the same mistake as I did"

"I already marked her....." I barely said for which the old man nodded "I'm aware. Maybe I lost my wife because I marked her when she was carrying my pup....But....All I wanted to say is...please be careful"

"I.....I promise to keep her safe"

The old man smiled "Thank you" He smiled again as he looked at Aery "I hope she lives long with her husband and her Childrens"

"She will..." I smiled looking at Aery "She definitely will old man"

Few hours passed, me being seated in front of arey who was still sound asleep. Her skin shined due to the dim light in her room, her perfect long hair spread across her pillow making her look like she has a crown, tilting and frowning from time to time, taking deep breaths, humming and twisting in her sleep....She looked like a small kid.

"Aery" I barely whispered, not wanting to wake her up "I'm sorry" I wanted to apologise, I wanted to say it because without knowing anything about her.....I marked her.

She did ask me to claim her but....I had zero awareness of my mates condition which made me an idiot to not understand her better.

That night when we spent together, I understood everything about her situation but not about her.

I wanted to know more, I wanted to be part of everything that she's been through. I want her to smile, be happy for the rest of her life. I'll make sure I'll keep you happy "I promise to protect you my omega" I stretched my hand, placing it on her silky soft hairs, I smiled caressing it "Your gonna be okay soon" Tapping slowly on her head, I realised, the mark on her neck looked.....very erotic.
