Chapter 5

She was walking aimlessly on the street as she had nowhere to go. She kept on walking aimlessly until she saw a light getting closer to her but then, a huge wave of air passed by her that made her fall.

She heard a car screech and stopped just before her.

"Oh my Goodness!" She exclaimed. The breeze that blew past her was a car that almost killed her. She knew that she was at fault because she was walking on the road without minding the traffic rules.. she hoped the driver would not be mad at her.

"Are you trying to get yourself killed?" She heard the voice of an angry man. That must be the driver! She turned around and began apologizing profusely.

"I'm so sorry sir...I...I didn't mean to walk on the road sir." She was shivering and her voice was shaking due to fear. She was so scared as she nearly died.

"Kito!" A stern voice called the driver from the car he alighted.

"Yes master." He quickly went to answer his master who had his side of his window rolled down.

"Is she okay?" Not like he cared but he didn't want someone's life to be wasted in such a manner.

"She's only frightened sir." Mr Kito replied immediately.

"Here, give her this." The man brought out a stack of cash and handed it to him. He rolled up the window and continued on his laptop.

"Have this and get yourself checked at the hospital for any injuries." He quickly handed over the cash to her and drove away.

She stood there still recounting in everything that happened. She was also shocked at the amount of money that was given to her. She knew she wasn't injured but only frightened.

She looked for a cheap motel and lodged in. Immediately she got into the room, she brought out the fast food she bought and began eating hurriedly. She had not eaten a thing since morning and she was starving.

She took a shower after she was done with the food and wore a bathrobe. She plopped on the bed as she began thinking of what to do next.

She planned on going to work as early as possible because she had a presentation to do. She had already prepared everything, it's now left for her to do a good job. She would not let what had happened ruin her mood.

She was finally free from the clutches of her family and now, she would start a new life. With that, she drifted off to sleep.

She woke up early the next morning and quickly went to take a shower. She pulled out a grey skirt and a white blouse to go with it coupled with a pair of black heels and her office bag.

She didn't have the time to take breakfast because she still had to set to up the meeting room for the presentation. She worked in the marketing department of her father's company while Chloe was the head of the department.

She hailed a taxi and went in. She arrived at the company early just as always. As she passed through the reception, she saw many people giving her weird looks. Some laughed and pointed at her while some snorted when she greeted them.

She pretended like she didn't hear their comments and stares. She took the elevator to the marketing department.

"Here comes the abandoned fiance." Sarah her colleague who was also Chloe's lackey said to her immediately she got to her desk.

"Good morning to you too, Sarah. I don't have time for your chit chats today, okay. If you will excuse me, i have a presentation in an hour time and i also need to prepare the meeting room for it." She took the documents she needed from her bag and prepared to leave for the meeting room.

"Hahahaha... really, didn't you see the envelope on your desk? It seems you're blind." She laugh and went to her desk to pick up the envelope and handed it over to her.
