Chapter 27

"No, no!" Lara screamed as she woke up from her slumber. Her heart was racing and she looked disoriented. It was a dream.

"Mummy!" Desi called out, rubbing her eyes with her tiny hands as she stood up from the bed.

"Oh dear, did I startle you?" Lara asked, feeling sorry. She took hold of Desi's arm and laid her back on the bed. "Shush."

She whispered and hummed a lullaby till Desi falls back into her slumber before she finally leaves the bed. The dream she just had was strange but made her remember something very important.

It had been years since she last saw her father and cousin. Her father promised to come back for her yet it had been years with no letter or message from him.

Where could he be? She wondered. His lack of communication and disappearance had always troubled her. She thought of searching for them years ago when she found out her mate was the Alpha's son.

All plans to run away were dashed but she still kept the pendant that he made her keep. She always had a feeli
