I gazed at Steven.

Steven advanced and came forward to open the door.

"Ms. Denz!"

Michael Gordon, the vice president of the hotel, who committed the mistake yesterday, rushed in. He was in such a rush that even Steven could not hold him back.

I frowned and observed how Michael rushed towards my table.

"Mr. Gordon, why do you still linger here? I accepted your resignation so you may go seek a job elsewhere."

"Ms. Denz, you can't do this to me! I have worked for this hotel for almost 20 years! I worked so hard for the hotel that I had many illnesses due to overwork. Even your father would not fire me. How could you just fire me like this?!" Michael was sweating profusely while he yelled at me.

"I've studied the medical history of all the bigwigs of this hotel. Your condition includes fatty liver and gallbladder polyps. You have to be an awfully hungry person." I snarled.

Michael caught the sarcasm in my voice and shook in terror. "Honestly, I didn't know that Alia Furniture has been providing inferior bedding to our hotel! Alia Furniture has been with us for the past three years, and they offered us a fair quote. They are also a brand of international fame in Savrow, so I…" 

Before he finished speaking, I cracked my hand and dropped a paper at his feet.

This is an entire record of everything the hotel had done with Alia Furniture within the past three years. Can't you recognize that there are holes in the financial report if you're the one responsible for the finance department? Michael folded his fingers over the document hastily and read. The pages radiated hotly in his hands like embers.

"I received an anonymous complaint, too.".

I picked up the coffee mug and casually took a sip. My eyes shone coldly. “Someone reported you, saying that you’ve had close contact with Alia Furniture and received a huge bribe from them to purchase Alia’s second-rate bedding in bulk.”

Michael was so frightened that his teeth chattered, and he almost lost his balance.

I won't fire anyone unjustly if I don't have evidence. However, I have the evidence now, so I won't be showing mercy. Mr. Gordon, if you still object, we will settle the issue legally.

Ms. Denz, forgive me! I was blinded to the benefits and made a wrong decision. Please have mercy! If this were to be found out, I would never again be able to work in Savrow.

Michael was that afraid that he almost begged me on his knees. "Alia Furniture called me first and said they would make me rich! Mr. Gold started this plan. I thought all mattresses were about the same, so I did not really listen and got tricked by his guile."

Michael’s face was filled with despair as he was driven out of the office like an unwanted dog.

Outside the office, Michael immediately changed his expression and took a deep breath.

“That bitch! I’ll teach her a lesson!”

I resented seeing the hotel’s executives fill their own pockets while disregarding the hotel’s interests.

"Michael Gordon must have a bad reputation with the staff to have a whistleblower stand out as soon as you investigate him." Steven was beaming with joy, like he had finally gotten his revenge.

"No one reported him."

"What?! Were you just bluffing?"

"Yup."

I answered in a relaxed tone and started playing video games. My stress relief was to rant my anger by killing zombies. "Even if I was bluffing, he would not have confessed his mistake if he were innocent."

Steven could not help but commend this action. I was actually a risk-taker. He said, "Michael and Alia Furniture have been in partnership for three years. It seems that he has made a huge cut. We should sue him and force him to spit out all the money."

We should have a bit of leeway, just in case. If I push him too far, the rest of the hotel managers will hatch a conspiracy! And Wyatt was the one who gave him his last promotion, anyway, so I should be respectful to my father.

I chatted informally as I chased a couple of zombies throughout the game with a big axe, "Now, in the meantime, have someone keep an eye on Michael. If he gets in touch with Lydia's brother again, let me know immediately."

My phone at this time in history kept ringing with messages received in a group chat.

"Steve, not right now. Will you help me figure out who's texting me?" I maintained my attention on the game.

Steven rushed over to take my phone. "Oh, look, it's a group chat called 'The Denz Family Secret Bureau'. Your brothers are messaging you."

Dean was the one who had created this group chat, and members included me and all my four brothers. It was called the Secret Bureau because my marriage to Kalus must remain a secret from other people.

I was so flabbergasted that I didn't give a hoot about the game and quickly took out my phone.

Steven still did not know about my divorce and marriage. The less people who knew, the better. Otherwise, if this information reached Wyatt:

[Dean (my second brother): I can't stand it anymore! Kalus Mike is a complete asshole!]

[Declan (my third brother): I'll find out if Mike Corporation is doing anything illegal and will try to bankrupt them within a month!]

[Frank: Go not in wrath nor turn aside in anger; do not chafe—you will do nothing but evil.]

[Drew: Bella, I will remove all negative news about you in half an hour and remove news of Kalus's second wedding from trending.]

Ian's phones and the public relations team were swamped by the media. The news also left Savrow and the whole country shocked.

Even before the media could get a chance to ask him questions about his first marriage, he was divorced already.

Savrow Daily belonged to Mike Corporation. This media channel had been backing them.

"Who do you want to sue?"
