Amara Kol endured three years of Kalus Mike's compliant, subservient wife, enduring his chilly disdain silently while reserving his affection for herself. But when he serves her with a divorce notice, eager to wed his long-time sweetheart Lydia Osita, Amara is confronted with harsh reality: the union, to him, had been three years and a mistake that could not be erased. Heartbroken and spurned, Amara vanishes into thin air, leaving only tears-soaked divorce papers behind. What Kalus fails to know, however, is that Amara Kol was never the woman he thought she was. She is actually Dera Denz, only child and heiress of the powerful Denz clan—a woman infinitely wealthier and more powerful than he could ever imagine. By the time Dera re-emerges as the gorgeous, hot, and untouchable CEO of Zz Group, she is no longer the modest wife who pleaded with him to love her. She is a queen on her own terms, determined to get everything that had been lost—her dignity as well. Now Kalus is haunted by guilt, unable to shake the memory of the woman he spurned. But Dera is gone—and doesn't want to come back. As he watches her climb to the top, with a clique of powerful acquaintances surrounding her—including Frank Denz, ominously guarding over her—Kalus learns too late: The woman he had cast aside is the one he can't do without. But Dera isn't that woman who asked him to stay once before. It is his turn now. Will Kalus reclaim the love he never cherished, or will Dera depart leaving him where he so rightly belongs, in the past?

CHAPTER 1

I gazed at the signed divorce papers on the table.

I gazed in the window direction through brimming eyes. Kalus Mike stood there under the glare of the sun of the afternoon, as faultless and stiff as a marble carving and giving out an overpowering aura.

I've signed them. You'll need to sign them at your earliest convenience so that we can finalize the divorce before Lydia gets home.

Kalus rested his hands at his back and said, without glancing at me, "Since we had a prenuptial agreement, there won't be a problem with property division. But as compensation, I will give you an additional $20 million and the villa in the western suburbs. Otherwise, I won't be able to justify it to Grandpa if you get away with not a single cent."

I was shocked. "Does your Grandpa know you want a divorce from me?"

"Grandpa's wishes won't be a factor for me."

My skeletal frame shuddered, so I clung to the edge of the table to stabilize myself. My tears streamed down my face as I begged, "Kalus, can't we stay married?"

Finally, Kalus wheeled around and looked at me hesitantly.

He pressed his slender lips together and scrunched up his dark eyes. His handsome face still caused my heart to skip a beat.

"Why?"

"Because I love you."

My tearful, puffy eyes stared at him. "Kalus, I love you. I still want to be your wife even if you do not love me…"

"I've had enough of this, Amara. A marriage without love is hell for me."

Kalus shooed me away. He did not even bother to listen to me. "Our marriage was a mistake in the first place. You knew that I was only having trouble with Grandpa then. You also knew that I had a crush on Lydia. I just could not be with her then for some reasons.". She will be back from Meridan soon, and I am going to marry her, so you need to leave now that our three-year contract term has ended."

I lowered my head. Large teardrops fell on the table, but I quickly wiped them away.

Kalus saw it, but he did not say anything.

It was just then that his phone rang. He quickly took the call when he saw the name of the caller on the phone screen.

"Lydia, did you get on the flight already?"

He used such a gentle voice that I couldn't help but wonder if it was the same man who was so distant from me a moment ago.

Lydia Osita responded with a bright voice over the phone, "Kalus, I'm already at the Savrow Airport."

"What? You weren't supposed to come in tonight!"

"I wanted to surprise you!"

"Wait for me, Lydia. I'll go pick you up now!"

Then Kalus stormed out.

I was left feeling dejected and abandoned after the door closed.

I had sacrificed so much for the Mikes and had dedicated myself to Kalus during our marriage.

He only thought of his three years of marriage and ten years of pining in the end.

Kalus acted as if he had been released from serving a three-year prison sentence and quickly abandoned me at the first opportunity. This was to wed his childhood sweetheart, Lydia Osita, whom he had been pining for.

I was heartbroken and disillusioned to learn that I could not do anything to win Kalus's heart.

I took a deep breath, grinned wryly, and shook my head. My outraged tears smeared Kalus's stunning signature on the divorce documents.

In the night, Kalus brought Lydia back to Tideview Manor.

Kalus, second son of rich Mike family, carried a demure woman in wedding attire as he walked into the manor, catching everyone's eye.

"Kalus, we are not yet divorced, so let us not be this intimate. Amara will loathe me otherwise if she knows we did something." Lydia touched Kalus's chest while softly whispering to him.

"She won't."

The eyes of Kalus hardened as he replied, "What if she happens to see us? I don't love her. She's nothing more than a name-marriage wife of mine, so she must keep her place."

The Mikes fenced Lydia in and welcomed her while I set the table in the dining room.

Kalus noticed his wife's solitary figure and smiled, musing, 'How was Amara such a submissive servant to my family? Did she think that it would undo my decision for the divorce? How silly!'

"Master Kalus!" Then, after some time, the butler rushed to Kalus. "Young Madam just departed!"

"She departed? When?"

"Just now! She didn't take anything with her. She just took off her apron and left through the back door. There was a black car waiting for her."

Kalus hurried back to the bedroom, which was clean and tidy. He saw the signed and tear-stained divorce agreement on the bedside table.

He scowled and strode towards the window, just in time to catch sight of a black Rolls-Royce disappearing down the drive from Tideview Manor. In a moment, its tail lights vanished into the darkness.

Kalus mused to himself, 'Wasn't she in no hurry to leave this afternoon? It seems like she can't get out of here fast enough now!'

He thought that I had tricked him like a fool, so he grabbed his phone and called his secretary in anger.

"Get to know whose car this is. License plate number SA9999."

"Yes, Sir."

Five minutes passed, and Kalus's secretary called him once again. "Mr. Mike, I found out that the car with that license plate number belongs to the CEO of Zz Group."

The CEO of Zz Group was the Denz family's eldest son, Frank.

I was from a small town. I was poor and had no connections. Over the last three years, Kalus had observed that I didn't even have friends since all I used to do was stay at home. How did I get to know Frank Denz?

Kalus thought that I had already acquired myself a rebound guy.

"Mr. Mike, did you talk about the divorce with the young madam today?" His secretary inquired hesitantly.

"Of course! Why would I delay it?" Kalus grew annoyed.

"Oh… But today is the young madam's birthday."

Kalus was taken aback upon hearing this.

Frank, the eldest son of the famous Denz family, held my hand gently in the back seat of the black Rolls-Royce.

"Your second brother arranged a fireworks show for you tonight to celebrate your homecoming."

"I simply do not have the mood to watch fireworks."

I went back to being Dera Denz, the heiress of the Denz clan. I cried on my eldest brother's shoulder uncontrollably.

I glanced at my old phone and read the last message I had received, which was from Lydia.

[You've stolen Kalus from me. I told you I'd get you to let him go sooner or later. Kalus is mine, so back off!]

I laughed with tears and closed eyes and had an epiphany.

"What's wrong? Do you still miss him after everything he has done to you?" Frank hugged his sister in distress.

"Ash, it's my birthday today…

"I know. Kalus is an ass to divorce you on a day like today."

"That's why there's no remorse on my part. Kalus just murdered Amara Kol."

I awoke with my eyes once again and I was no longer Amara Kol, wife of Kalus Mike. Instead, I had become the proud heiress Dera Denz of Zz Group again. And this time, I was not hung on that man.

Dera said, "I'm over him. I'll be damned if I ever go back to him.".

I was Mrs. Mike's niece, so I stayed and enjoyed a good family dinner with the Mikes.Kalus was the only one with a frown. He had no appetite because Amara left with Frank Denz. She did not even pack anything with her, nor did she take his $20 million settlement or the villa."Where's Amara? Why didn't she come down to dinner?" Gregory Mike, Kalus's father, asked in shock. We've already signed the divorce papers." Kalus lowered his eyes and spoke, "I will proceed with the divorce as soon as possible."Gregory was taken aback. "Divorce? Why?""Oh, Greg, I've told you ages ago that Kalus and Amara are not a good match. Your father organized their wedding.".Kalus's stepmother, Zera Zapper, sighed and continued, "This poor girl suffered for three years. Now they could both have their own life, since she is ready to let go of Kalus. This is genuinely a good deal for them. You know, Kalus had always loved Lydia.""Marriage is no game, Kalus. Amara is too."."Dad, we got the divorce documen

The Rolls-Royce pulled up to Yara Park, where the Denz family resided in Hatchbay. The car stopped in the middle of the red carpet rolled out at the front entrance. In the middle was Dean Denz, my second brother. He opened the car door for me and greeted me."Welcome home, Princess!"I was standing tall under the lights at the mansion. I had taken off my sneakers and dressed up in stilettos beforehand inside the car. Getting out of the car, I was a proud queen."How have you been, Dean?""I'm fine, but I feel much better now that you're here! Are the fireworks nice? My birthday gift to you has gone viral on the internet!" Dean's handsome face was filled with excitement."Yeah, I saw it. They say that you're a filthy rich bastard trying to win someone's heart. That's quite an achievement, isn't it?" I clapped my hands and smiled broadly at Dean.Dean ignored my joking and hugged me close."Dera, you won't escape again, okay?""Where can I go now that I'm divorced?"I patted the back of

Five days after that, Kalus summoned his secretary, Ian Harris, to his office after breakfast."Did you learn more about Amara?"The man stood by the floor-to-ceiling glass window and glanced out at the city view of Savrow. His tall and broad physique projected an overwhelmingly crushing aura."Uh… sorry, Mr. Mike. Progress has not been made."Ian wiped his sweat uncomfortably. "After the young madam left home that night, she never came back to the nursing home where she worked before. I also went to Fogville, her hometown, to carry out an on-site investigation, but the address she provided me in advance was a false one. The Kol family never existed in that little town.""The address was a fake?!" Kalus turned around violently. His eyes were dark and intimidating."Yes. I have also gone to the police station in our area to confirm her details, but they were not able to find someone matching the description of the young madam."Ian had addressed Amara as the "young madam" for three yea

Therefore, the high-ranking executives were embarrassed to be caught red-handed gossiping about their new boss."That's absurd! Ms. Denz is the only legitimate daughter of the Denz family! What's wrong with their heads?!" Frank's secretary, Steven Lovett, was fuming in the passenger seat."'Legitimate' or 'illegitimate' doesn't matter. We're not living in the Middle Ages anymore! Why are you so angry, Steve?"I narrowed my sparkling eyes and extended my hand to pinch Steven's cheek. His cute face instantly turned red."Dera, you are the future CEO of Zz Group. Would you please act? Don't harass Steve." Frank frowned slightly."What's wrong with that? No one complains when a male boss harasses a female secretary!"I tutted and went on, "Besides, it's his privilege that I touch him.Frank shook his head and looked dotingly at his sister. The Denz siblings stepped into the hotel, flanked by top-level executives.Michael Gordon, the vice president of the hotel, kept leading us to the VIP

I was taken aback to see Kalus's name on Frank's caller ID."Should I answer?" Frank asked."Yup!"Frank put the call on the speaker."Mr. Denz, is my wife with you?" Kalus spoke in a croaky voice.I was irritated because I was angry that Kalus called me his wife. "Mr. Mike, watch your mouth. I am your EX-wife now.""Amara Kol! So you really are with him!" Kalus's voice lowered."Where else can I be? Do I have to stay in your house and wait for you to throw me out?"How inconsiderate of him!Kalus frowned. "Don't be so hasty. We have not finalized the divorce, so you are still my wife by name. You should at least think of Mike Corporation's reputation and your own reputation!""You took Lydia to Tideview Manor when we were married and forced me to sign the divorce papers. Kalus, did you ever think about how I felt?"I scoffed. "I always do unto others as they do unto me. Why should I care about your company's reputation now? Joseph turned healthy-looking once I was around in the ward. His face lit up."Amara! I'm glad you've come, Grandpa!"I changed hats within a matter of seconds and sat respectfully alongside Joseph."How do you feel now, Grandpa? Any pain?""Yes, now that I get to see you, I am so much better!"Joseph grasped my hand and inquired worriedly, "Amara, this punk informed me that you two are divorced. Is that true?""Yes, Grandpa. We are divorced." My eyelashes shook, and my heart was empty."Kalus, you fool! Why would you divorce such a fine wife?! Amara is the best there is!" Joseph fought to sit up, and he glared at Kalus.Kalus feared his grandfather's health and dared not respond.Grandfather, please don't be angry. I didn't wish to follow this marriage, and Kalus agreed, I said in a soothing voice to calm Joseph down, stroking the back of the old man. This caught Kalus off guard because I didn't protest to his grandfather or bring out his grandfather to retaliate to him.He thought,

Kalus was amazed."Are you certain that you pushed me?" I grinned. I did not get angry. Instead, I was appreciating Lydia's acting."Why would I have fallen suddenly?" Lydia was so angry that her usually soft voice rose in pitch."That's not at all impossible.
