Stepping stones

Nina's POV

It seemed my ass had glued to the chair at the word that I had just been told. The vault. It was what I know as the paragon of wisdom. What Ryan had said was the reason he had messed up at first, and I didn't know if I were to be glad about it, that he was showing it to me.

My hands circled my laps until I was sure that my blood was flowing just right. His hands on my legs, jolted me out while I stared at him.

“ You don't have to worry about it. It will be fine”

I wanted to ask if he felt it was worth cheating at first, but I knew that I had to get that away from us at some point.

I had to forget that he had hurt me and even though it would hurt, I had made up my mind that I didn't want anyone else so it was the little that I could do.

My head swarmed with thoughts besieging it when he drove, slanted out of the usual route we would have taken down a narrow road.

I wanted to question him, but this must be the way to vault. His secret paragon of knowledge.
