Nina's POV

That ache in me worsened shortly after Ryan had left, and I couldn't bring myself to do anything, no matter how hard I tried to, I could feel it, like it was tearing me down.

My gaze swept across the room, while I stared at Gladys, who was trying to talk to the kids. They were listening just fine, attentively if I was asked to put a tag over it and I didn't know what was wrong.

I was supposed to be okay, celebrating also, but I couldn't bring myself to, not with Rivolty out there, and we didn't know what else he was capable of doing.

The sound of my phone ringing blazed through the air, tearing everything in me apart while I stumbled across to place it over my ear.

I dragged in a breath, my brows knitted when I saw who the caller was.

“Yes, Reina, good morning” my hands weaved through my hair, while I tried to mask my earlier thoughts.

Her voice came through, cranky at first, but I could hear everything later on.

“ Hey,” she said.

“ Are you free now? I am downstair

Ryan's POV “You can opt out. It isn't compulsory that you do it, if you aren't fine with it” I explained to Nina who was by my side. If I was asked to explain the thoughts that had besieged my head while I laid there, it would have been that of her and our kids, I couldn't just take it. When I sat, back against the wall, a burnt that would always serve as a memory of what had been done. I thought of Nina, her tears and how uncomfortable they made me. How I didn't want her crying at all, I didn't want that beautiful face of hers tainted with tears, no one deserved that, not even me. When she pulled away, saying to Richard, I couldn't help but watch. “ I am ready to do so now. I will address them all, as his wife.”“ I don't want you in there, Nina,” I insisted. “ You will be their target, they will want to hunt you down, I don't want you getting hurt” I reached out for her, a hand stretched out at her, one I waited for her to accept, but she didn't. “ I will do it,” she insisted

Nina's POVHurt swirled in me so fast that I knew this wasn't it. I tried to stand, but I couldn't understand why my legs refused to take my weight. I wasn't that huge. I stumbled backward, hands grasping me before I could do so. My eyes burn holes into the bed, where Ryan sat while I wondered what exactly it was that I had done to him that he had hurt me again. I didn't know what else to do, or think. I dragged in a breath, while waiting for his answer. “ I did nothing with her,” he insisted, even under Richard's gaze that threatened to tear him apart. “ I did nothing with Dezreel. Nina can attest to it. I was with her on that night, I sent my body double instead to be with her and not me” I bobbed, when it dawned on me what he was talking about. My eyes went to the faces that waited for an explanation from me, or rather for me to confirm what had just been said. “ He was with me that night,” I confirmed. I could still recall it. “ He had sent his body double in his stead and

A hand, fair and slim, swept through the table while she panted so hard at what she had just found. Dezreel knew she had been through a lot, that she had ambitions, but she was never one to be played, she was never one that left when the field wasn't leveled yet. Her eyes punched the table so hard before she broke down, her knees buckled as she dropped to the ground in tears. Her heart felt like it was being wrenched from her body, while she contemplated on what she had just heard. “ I am sorry, but this DNA bears no paternity to the child in your womb” she had never wanted to wreck anyone like she had wanted to do to Ryan at that moment. She had never taken it into consideration that it would have been a body double, never knew that he had one. She had seen it as an advantage, no one knew what was his status with Nina, aside from her having his kids, he didn't care about her so she had taken it as an opportunity to get what she wanted, a bit of him. His company was where it wa

Ryan's POV My hand sluiced around Julia as I rained dainty kisses on her face that had her giggling. “ Why do you think I am going to leave you, princess?” She shrugged, mumbling out words before she flipped her head to Julian, who had stomped away. “ We both did. Julian kept assuring me that you were fine, but he looked like he could break down at any moment as well” My gaze trailed that of Julian as he stalked off. I couldn't attest to the fact if it was because he was cold, or like to be out of everyone's way, but I needed him to know that it was fine showing emotions. I had a long way to go, he did same, and I was going to put it to work. Gladys, who had been stealing glances at me, nodded. “ I knew you were fine” I could take her as a motherly figure already. She was always there by my side, and now she was by the kids as well. I sauntered over at her, bending down as I threw my hands over her shoulders. Her tears ran out before they stopped. “ I am glad you are back” I

Ryan's POV “ You told him about the vault?” It was coming together now. It has to be her and here I was thinking she was the one who had sent men in there. My eyes turned bloodied, with hands wrapped around her neck, I attempted to strangle her. Kill her and no one would know. I could snuff her life out right now and no one would know, but I pulled my hands away. With eyes seething with rage, I pulled away before she could drop dead. Her eyes turned misty with tears as I asked. “ Why?” I demanded. “ Why! Did! You! Do! It?” I demanded an answer. She had made me lose one of the men I had grown up with, that we had shared bonds, that had loved me as much as he loved himself. “ You never wanted to see me. You are here, aren't you? If I hadn't done that, you wouldn't have come searching for me. You would have sat back home, relaxed with her…with that thing you claim to love and…”My hands punched the wall beside her, denting it in the process.“ She isn't a thing,” I warned. “ Nina

  • Chasing my estranged wife: I want you back    Attempted murder

Nina's POV I waited at the door for him to walk in, for him to walk past the door. My hands clawed into my palm while I did so, as time drifted away, and I was left to my thoughts. I knew that I was supposed to go alongside him, but he had clearly rebuffed me doing so. It was at times like this I wondered if indeed I had any use to him. I had caused all of this, every single thing happening was because of me. If I hadn't insisted that he should fight for the company, then, maybe everything would have been fine. I dropped to the couch behind me, my hands patting my face. I needed to know how he was. I needed to know what he was thinking and what he wanted to do, I needed him to tell me, to talk to me. When the door beeped, revealing his slanted form, I held out my hands to him. He hugged me, squeezing me so tight that I had to push him a bit just so that I could breathe properly. His alcohol scented breath wafted into my nostrils, before I held him to myself. “You are drunk,” I

Nina's POV “ What do you mean? Why would he do that? How did he know where exactly you were at? Who told him?” I threw those questions at her, wondering what exactly was going on. It wasn't supposed to be this way, we were supposed to have the upper hand here. We were supposed to be the one dictating what we wanted, how and where exactly, but it seemed that was it right now. “You should be fine here,” Ryan added. His hands clasped around mine. “ Do you have proof? A video or anything? There has to be something that would help” he said to her. She placed her hands into her bag, before drifting a car to him. “ Here, the hotel management handed it over to me. It is where I usually stay at, and they also promised to testify when the needs arise” I didn't know if anything was more fucked up than this situation right now. Reina had parents who loved each other, they loved each other so much that they couldn't let go of each other, they even teased themselves with how they were going

Ryan's POV My gaze was on Rivolty who had a smile on his face. I didn't know what to make of it, but I knew that there was no way that I was going to let him go. I was going to make sure everything turned against him today, and maybe only then would he know who I was. My hands held the microphone, before it went to the judges who were seated in three’s. “ Plead your case” I began, reading out every single thing that I had filed, the smile lingered on his lips, but I was sure it would leave when I was done with him today. “ Mr. Ryan, the charges you read out are outrageous, are you sure that you have proof to back them up?” I nodded, giving her an answer. I wasn't going to be a fool without one. When I said I wanted the company back, I meant it and I wasn't going back on my word. She turned to Rivolty. “ I will listen to the accused now” Rivolty tapped on the mic, flashing a smile before he spoke. “All of these charges are false, and my client is aggrieved. He hasn't been ab

Ryan's POV “Am I doing too much?” I questioned Richard who stood by my side. I had on a sea green suit and a blue lapel which was to match with the gown she had on, but she wasn't here yet. I didn't know what to do, if I was going to cry, but I wanted to do this clear headed and without shedding a tear. It wouldn't make me masculine like I was supposed to be. She shouldn't see me tearing up. Richard stood by my side, in a peach suit to match Reina's own. “You doing too much would be you tearing up when she shows up to the aisle, please don't do that. You did before and it wasn't easy for me to stop you, don't make me do that again” he pleaded. I bore a hole in him at the words he had just spoken. He wasn't supposed to say that .He was still going to rub it over my face. “You did the same to me, remember?” he quizzed when he saw the look on my face. “So I don't really think I am doing anything wrong by telling you what I just did” I shook my head, not wanting to listen to him.

  • Chasing my estranged wife: I want you back    Happy ever after

Nina’s POV “ You don't get it Reina” I hadn't known when exactly this had happened, but it was too much. I had given up on Christopher right now because I had no other option, but that was because my mum looked so happy with him. I knew he was young, well, too young if I am asked, but my mother being happy was everything to me and I wanted her to be. “ You both were going at it raw, what did you expect? A truckload of gifts?”Wait, what? “ I am almost in tears right now,” I explained. I just couldn't explain it, but I was really tearing up. She stood up, patting me on the back. “ It's the hormones, you are actually tearing up” “I am pregnant, just a month to our wedding and I don't know how to tell him, the wedding gown won't fit” “ The designer can always work on it, we can have her do that” “ But still, I am not ready for this. I don't know if I want this child, it is too much for me to bear right now, what exactly am I to do?” I questioned. I had to think about this. All t

  • Chasing my estranged wife: I want you back    Troubles

Ryan's POV That name didn't ring a bell at all, why would somebody who wasn't affiliated to them do something like that? Or was it that we didn't know what exactly we were searching for? “ I can't really say” We both got into the Porsche as I answered.“ There is no one else that would be able to give an answer except her, but I don't know where she is”“ Who?” “ Her mother of course, I am so sure Nina doesn't know anyone by that name, and it will be so awkward bringing that up to her, we need to be certain. We don't want her suspecting us now, would we?” A part of me was glad that I didn't have to do this anymore, it would have pricked me a bit to know that. Richard was a drive away from the bar when my phone rang out. “ Ryan, where are you?” I could sense the urgency in her tone as she asked. I swallowed, gazing at Richard whose eyes were probing to know what's wrong when I answered. “ With Richard, is something wrong?” “ Yes, can you come over? I am at the morgue and I di

  • Chasing my estranged wife: I want you back    Disapproval

Nina's POV I had never felt this jittery in years, months even with how tense I was, I thought I was going to mess things up. “ You have to calm down, he is just your mother's spouse” That brings us back to why we were here, my mother's spouse, the one she said she wanted to introduce to me. I had wanted to be here first, just to get along foremost before passing it on to anybody what exactly he looked like, but my mother had insisted I came with Reina. She was better than me, as it was to be expected, and she was here to keep me in place or so I had thought. “ Something bulging your mind?” I shook my head when she asked. We had just gotten to the spot, fine dining with a reservation so difficult to get even if you were well known, but we seemed to be here, my mum had said this was the designated venue, and so we had to be here on time. “ It's now or never” the door opened with a slight push from me and we were in. It didn't take so long to find the booth that we were looking

Ryan's POV A smile crested over my face while I hummed alongside to perfect by Ed Sheeran, that was how my life was like currently, it was going the right path that I wanted it to be. Stepping on the gas, I couldn't keep thinking of how everything was just the way it should be presently, but there was merely a problem and that one had to be taken care of. I slammed the brakes in front of Richard's company, swept my gaze around when I stepped out of the car, beaming at the CCTV camera that told me he had his eyes glued on it. I figured him letting out a string of curses at what I had just done, before turning his attention back to his pile of documents. When he wasn't with Reina and the kids, playing the obsessed husband, he had his head into his documents trying to work even harder. Stepping into the elevator, I waited for it to drop me in front of his office and when I did, I pushed the door open. “ You should take a breath, you are always working” I pointed at him when I was

Nina's POV I beamed at the hand that had wrapped itself around me, before kissing me noisily. Pushing him off gently, I let out a plea. “ Let me sleep a bit, hmm” I pleaded while trying to shut my eyes a bit when the scent of freshly baked potatoes and cabbage lamb roast stew had me opening them in a sec. “ You surely do know how to get me” I gave him a slight jab at the arm before staring around, my mouth watered at the sight before me. “A little bit burnt, but I guess it's the intentions that matters” Ryan said while being nervous. I could tell because he was unusually jittery, which wasn't a fine attribute of his person, unless he had done something wrong, or he intended to do something that has him this way, I hope it was the latter because I could do without any huge thing at the moment. “ Spill” I urged, taking a scoop of the delicious goodness in front of me. A moan escaped my lips sending a little tingle in-between my legs when he stared at me like I was the most delic

Nina's POV “ Mother” I ran across the pavement after slamming the door shut, accepting the hand she had given me. “ Nina” she enclosed me into her arms, savoring the moment. “ Are you okay? I heard about the verdict?” I bobbed at her, giving her an answer. “ It was nothing, I feel better now, and I am glad that I had to watch” She searched my eyes probing before she pulled away, grasping my hands in hers as she sauntered off with me in suite. “ Is something wrong?” She shook her head. We were at our house, the one where everything had gone down, where I had been poisoned, where I had come to seek refuge after Ryan, and where my father had decided to get. We had memories from this house, a lot of it and I would have kept them all if the very last wasn't as painful as it had been. She smiled briefly before shaking her head. “ Would you want anything else? I am bringing down the house”“ Mother” I exhaled. That must have caused a lot of decisions and I didn't really know if

Nina's POV My hands squeezed around Reina as as we waited for the judge's verdict, my heart slammed so hard as she made a point on how he had committed murder, and had burnt an orphanage killing kids as well. Everyone had watched the video and it had been brutal. So brutal that I had shut my eyes through it all. “ Brian is sentenced to death by shooting for mass murder, and it should be carried out immediately” she snapped the pen she held into two. He stood up, eyes bloodshot as he glared at the judge. My heart spiked as I recalled what he had done the last time, thinking of how he might make a repeat of the same thing, it was going to be heart-wrenching. “ You won't be able to kill me. You won't be able to, what makes you any different from me? You do the same thing as I do, and you are still alive, you can't!” My eyes brimmed with tears in them, as Ryan punched a hand up in the air, his eyes were on me as he mouthed out. “ We did it” I knew he was also trying to tell me abou

Ryan's POV My eyes slithered into red when I saw him pinning her against the wall. “ Fuck” I cursed, pushing against the chair in my way before shoving the door open. It came open in a crank and shoving him away from her, I threw a punch into his face. He collided against the wall, before aiming one at me. He threw one on my face, which I returned before we were pulled away. “ I will make sure you live the rest of your life behind bars” I yelled at him, venomously. Even if it was going to take my last breath, I was going to make that happen. Nina stood at the far edge, a hand around her neck as she took in gasps of air, pulling off the jacket I had on, I threw it over her before guiding her out. I made sure we were safe in the car before zooming off. I didn't know what I was going to know if he had hurt her more than this, maybe send his body rolling, I would have made him regret every single thing about his life. I might have ended up punching him to death, the rage in me st
