Chapter 5

Gina’s POV

“GINA!!! GO HOME, DON’T MAKE ME REPEAT MYSELF.” He raised his voice at me and I cried running out of his company.

I got to my car and my hands were shaking, I cried out my eyes trying to get into my car, what Liam was doing to me was so unfair, is he angry that I ruined things when I came into the office? Was he planning to take those two ladies to bed? What happened to the sweet Liam I used to know when I came newly to Grandpa's home after I lost my parents?

“Gina, let’s get married.” Sweet Liam said to me.

“Married? but we never dated”

“Doesn’t matter, okay a contract marriage, after three years, if it doesn't turn out well we can end it and please don’t say no, I really need us to get married as soon as possible when the time comes, I will tell you why.”

I thought he was too shy to express his feelings to me and I concluded maybe he wanted us to give it a shot and once love grows among us, we are going to be happy though it was too sudden, people said a lot of negative things about him that he is not capable of love so I wanted to prove them wrong that Liam surely has feelings for me and just a matter of time he will be able to express it and I am willing to wait.

I stopped thinking about the past, he used me to get what he wanted then. I was so foolish and to think that he even fooled Grandpa, should I call him? No, there is no point in reporting my husband to him right now, no point at all, even if it was true, we have spent three years together, I love him helplessly, he once had strong feelings for me and I am certain he still does, maybe what happened between him and Mariam was just a mistake. I will go home and wait for his return.

My husband didn’t come home again, I was getting impatient so I drove to the company, I will not leave without an explanation.

I got to the company immediately and met Mariam at the staircase, “Why are you at my lover’s company? I thought you had left for good.”

“Mariam, no matter what you do or say to me, I will never leave my husband, just have that in mind.” I was about to go up when she gripped my hands.

“Take your hands off me,” I said to her.

“Why? There is no one here, do you know how angry Liam will get when he discovers you slapped me and pushed me down the staircase.”

“I never did any of that, so let me go.”

“But you are about to do it.”

She changes the tone of her voice, “Why are you hurting me? It’s not my fault your husband loves me, let us be, don’t harm our baby.”

My eyes widened, what is she trying to do?

“Stop this madness,” I said.

“I will make sure Liam kicks you out today.” She tightened her grip.

“Let me go, Mariam, you are insane” I tried taking her hands off mine but I don’t know why she purposely fell from the staircase and she cried out, “Help, she is a monster, she wants to kill my baby.” I was confused as hell when she passed out, what have I done? Everyone thought wrong and looked at me with hatred but I never pushed her.

Liam walked in and saw everything, “Liam I didn’t push her.” I cried but he didn’t say a word to me and just carried her in bridal style to the hospital and I had no choice but to go with them in my car, I needed to make sure she was alright and well.

A few hours later, the doctor informed us that she lost the baby, what I don’t understand is why she harmed herself to lose her baby. I overheard Mariam telling Liam how I swore at her and her baby and threatened to get rid of  her, she told him I pushed her on purpose, she cried like a baby and everything felt so strange to me, I expected Liam to hear my side of the story but instead, he came out and said to me with his cold eyes,

“Gina, we need to talk.” Liam cold voice gave me the chills and I nodded walking with him and standing beside his car “I know you overheard everything Mariam said, so tell me, is it true?”

“You have never explained why you cheated on me and where the baby comes from but you are asking me if  I did it. Do you even know me all these years? Do you think I’d do this?” I asked with tears leaving my eyes.

“Since this is also what we should talk about then we can do this now.” He brought out the divorce papers from the car with his signature on it.

“Let’s end this, I will compensate you and explain things to Grandpa.” How can Liam be so cold to me? What I expected was an apology and not this, I can’t believe the three years we spent together didn’t mean a thing to him at all, I thought our marriage was working despite the complications, he cheated on me and believed her, he doesn’t feel remorse at all and he is the one asking for divorce, does he think money can fix my broken heart?

“I don’t need your damn compensation, I just need to know one thing, did you marry me just to get what you needed from Grandpa, was I a tool you used in the past and now you wish to get rid of me because I am no more needed? Tell me, Liam.”

“Gina, I don’t have much to say, yes you are right, Grandpa won’t will what was mine as the heir and he froze my account, you were vulnerable and I was desperate so I took the chances with you, to me. our marriage is just an agreement and I never told you I had feelings for you and that’s all since I am the one who breaks the condition, I know this will be an unfair situation for you so don’t worry about the compensation, Grandpa will understand.” What kind of a man is Liam? I should have believed the rumour that says he was a cold beast and not capable of love.

I slapped him hard on the face, “I hate you.” I took the divorce paper from him and left.
